  • Oyo SSG storms APC party secretariat with supporters

    The political permutations of who is likely to succeed the Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State was on Tuesday altered when the Secretary to the Government of Oyo State, Mr Olalekan Alli, make good his intention by submitting his intent letter at the APC state party secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan, where he also declared his interest in contesting the governorship seat.

    Alli, who was accompanied by thousands of his supporters to the party secretariat however maintained that decided to join the 2019 governorship race in the state on the platform of the ruling party because the ideology of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the most proficient and capable of transforming Nigeria.

    The SSG was received at the secretariat by the state chairman, Chief Akin Oke, who was accompanied by other state executives, leaders and elders of the party.

    While receiving the intent letter from the aspirant, Oke noted that a total of 13 members of the party have taken similar action by submitting their letters of intent to succeed Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

    He promised that the party would provide a level-playing ground for all the aspirants

    Reading the letter, Alli, said, “I am proud to note that the APC ideology provides the most efficient platform that is capable of transforming our dear nation. Together, we will continue to see that Nigeria attains the required global recognition and relevance that is befitting of our size and diversity.

    “This desires cuts across all levels – from national to sub-national administration, even down to individuals. It is therefore with great pride that I proclaim my conviction in the party as the panacea for national and community development.”

    “In good governance, as we have observed in the last seven years, are the signals and symbols for safety, socio-economic welfare, poverty alleviation, human capital development, service reforms and reorientation, sound health, urbanisation, environmental uplifting, infrastructural growth and industrialisation and public engagement as manifested in Oyo State.

    “Indeed, the commitment to empowering women and employing the youth as well as other well-crafted objectives of the tripod agenda is our collective mission. These legacies must be sustained and taken to the next level.
    “In the history of Oyo State, the vision of a 25-year organic development master plan is unprecedented. To lock-in this history requires institutionalizing the execution of the master plan rooted upon transparency, commitment and professionalism.

    “Also, our solid upbringing in the ethos of the traditional and modern Yoruba culture calls for our continued total devotion to ethical paradigm as ‘Omoluabi.’ These are the values we shall continually espouse and which shall be our guide for the advancement of governance for the benefit of the citizenry.

    “Having been privileged to be part of the first-rated team of Governor Ajimobi, I am offering myself to serve the state as it’s governor in 2019.

    “My interest in Oyo State governorship project is to further the repositioning of agriculture as the basis of our industrialization, enhancing the fortune of our education, health, human capital, including staff development and welfare, industry,  commerce, youth development, engagement and empowerment of women, sports redevelopment, and other strategic potentials across the state.

    “My humble knowledge and modest participation in the rebuilding effort of the present government, under our leader, how ignited my interest in this ‘Continuity for Progress Scheme,’ required for further advancement of Oyo State.

    “It is for this reason that I seek your support as I formally declare my interest in the governorship position of Oyo State on the platform of our great party, APC, in 2019, in order to continue the next phase or our socio-economic master plan.

    “As we are set to further promote and sustain the current all-inclusive governance in Oyo State, together we shall progress, together we shall prosper, together we shall advance and together we shall triumph.”

  • Oyo workers laud Ajimobi on human capital development

    Participants at a two-day “train-the-trainers” workshop for civil servants in Oyo State have expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for his commitment to the welfare and development of the state’s workforce.

    This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the workshop, held in Ibadan, on Thursday, with the theme, ‘The Imperatives of Change Management in Oyo State Public Service.’

    According to the communiqué, the participants resolved to embrace work practices, which would enhance productivity and efficiency in the state civil service.

    Some of the resolutions include, “emphasising recruitment based on merit; attitudinal change among staff to ensure better service delivery and continuous capacity building of staff through training and re-training”.

    Others are, “constant review of relevant extant rules, regulations, circulars and general orders; clearer definition of the mission and vision of MDAs for effective service delivery and effective deployment of technology in day-to-day operations”.

    Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli, delivered a keynote address at the workshop, while the lead paper was delivered by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Efficiency, Dr. Isaac Ayandele.

    Resource persons included retired permanent secretaries in the state and seasoned administrators, while participants comprised staff of the efficiency unit of all MDAs and political appointees.

    Oyo SSG family awards scholarship to 10 indigent students

    The family of the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli at the weekend awarded scholarships to 10 indigent Junior Secondary School Students of Ibadan Grammar School in commemoration of the one year remembrance of their father, Pa Mustapha Alli (Baba Odoye)

    Pa Alli, who was a 1948 set of Ibadan Grammar School, died on February 2, 2017 at the age of 96.

    While presenting the cheque of the N350,000.00 scholarship to the school Principal at the school hall, the representative of the Alli family, Mr. Adekunle Alli said that the gesture was in line with the passion of their late father and mother.

    Mr. Alli explained that their late parents believed in education for all during their life time, noting that the scholarship to the 10 indigent students was a way of actualizing the realization of their late parents’ dream.

    He stated that the Sum of Thirty Five Thousand Naira (N35,000.00) was apportioned to each Student which covers their Annual Education Levies such as, School Uniforms, Text Books, School Sandals, Socks among others.

    In their separate remarks, the Principals of Ibadan Grammar School, Molete, Ibadan, Mr. Ajani Oyeade and his counterpart from Junior School, Mr. Jinadu Samuel thanked the Family for the support giving to the Students to attain success in their academic pursuit and prayed for the repose of their late Parents.

    Earlier, a special prayer was organized at the family House as part of the activities marking the one year remembrance of their Late father.

    Oyo, Osun constitute LAUTECH’s Governing Council

    The Oyo and Osun governments have announced the immediate constitution of a seven-man Governing Council for Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

    A statement issued on Monday in Ibadan by the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Mr Olalekan Alli, said the newly constituted council would be headed by a retired Head of Service of the Federation, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi.

    According to the statement, Prof. Lai Olurode, Prof. Olaide Adedokun, Mr Abiodun Owonikoko, Mr Isiaka Olagoke, Mr Tise Adenipekun and Bade Adesina would serve as members of the Governing council.

    “Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State and his counterpart form Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola,  acted on the powers conferred on them by the laws establishing the institution as Visitors  met and approved the immediate constitution of the Governing Council of LAUTECH

    “The tenure of the Governing Council  as mandated by the University Law  shall be for four years from the date of its inauguration unless determined by the Visitors.

    “Visitors have also directed the immediate inauguration of the Governing Council  whose mandate shall also be guided by the provisions of the relevant laws establishing the university,”  the statement  said.

    According to the statement,  the Visitors are confident that with this development, the ongoing crisis in the institution will  be resolved soon.

    “They consequently enjoined all stakeholders to cooperate with the newly constituted council in its determination to realise its mandate,” it added.
