The family of late poet and social critic Chief Olarenwaju Adepoju has announced plans to preserve his arts and works.
The move, the family said, is to sustain his legacy as a cultural ambassador and content creator.
The Ewi exponent died on December 10 at his Idi-Orogbo, Ring Road residence in Ibadan and was laid him to rest in accordance with Islamic rites on December 11.
The family, in a statement, said: “A devout Muslim, Mas’ud Olanrewaju Adepoju lived an extraordinary life, leaving behind a legacy that will forever inspire generations. He was a fearless social critic, utilizing his gift of Ewi metaphysical prowess to amplify the voices of the voiceless, even during the tumultuous era of military junta in Nigeria.
“His unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of justice, equity, and freedom served as an inspiration to many, igniting the flames of change within our nation. His resounding voice became an instrument in the struggle for return to democratic rule in Nigeria.
“A self-made man, Chief Olanrewaju achieved remarkable feats without formal education, embodying the power of self-determination and perseverance. His life serves as a testament to the boundless potential that resides within each individual, regardless of their circumstances.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all those who have reached out to us, offering their condolences, prayers and support during this time of profound grief. Your kind words and gestures have provided solace and strength to our family, and we are deeply grateful for your compassion.”

Declaring plans to preserve his works, the family said: “Prior to his passing away, we have been humbled by the overwhelming clamor from his fans and admirers, both at home and abroad, who yearn for his past works of art to be made available in various formats. It is our solemn duty to ensure that his legacy endures eternally, and we are diligently working towards fulfilling this request.
“The family is actively engaged in the preservation and dissemination of his artistic contributions. These intellectual works, including his poetry, writings, publications and other artistic expressions, will continue to be compiled, curated, and presented.
“We are exploring different avenues to make his works of art accessible to a wider audience, ensuring that his powerful messages and artistic brilliance continue to inspire and resonate with generations to come.
“We understand the significance of this endeavor and the profound impact it will have on preserving Chief Olanrewaju Adepoju’s memory. Therefore, we are meticulously planning the release of his works in an organized and commemorative manner for his artistic achievements.
