The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has inaugurated a committee to audit agreements or MOU on Accelerated Gas Development Projects (AGDPs).
A statement from the Ministry of Justice says the Committee is tasked with ensuring that Nigeriaโs gas resources are managed securely and strategically.
The statement reads: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Olasupo Shasore, SAN – Senior Partner at ALP NG & Co., as Chair of the Federal Government Legal Audit Committee for Agreements and MOUs on ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ (๐๐๐๐ฃ๐) and other high-profile commercial arbitration matters.

“The Committee is tasked with ensuring that Nigeriaโs gas resources are managed securely and strategically.
“A significant part of the Committeeโs mandate includes reviewing concluded high-profile arbitration cases to identify the causes of Nigeria’s exposure in those cases, with a view to making recommendations for avoiding similar situations in the future.
“This oversight will help align AGDP agreements with the Nigerian Gas Master Plan, advancing domestic gas growth and safeguarding Nigeriaโs interests in international contracts and disputes.”
Alongside Mr. Shasore, the Committee comprises Mrs. Folashade Alli SAN, C.ARB, of Folashade Alli & Associates; Mr. Tolu Obamuroh of White & Case; Muyiwa Balogun of Olaniwun Ajayi LP; ES NURPC; and senior officials from NNPCL and the Federal Ministry of Justice.
“We congratulate Mr. Shasore, SAN, and the entire team on this crucial assignment to strengthen and protect Nigeriaโs commercial and legal standing in international fora,” it stated.
