    Olorunda LCDA chairman marks 100 days in office with new projects

    The Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon Ajose Peter Kumayon, has marked his first 100 days in office with the inauguration of some laudable community projects.

    Kumayon, who is popularly called “Irorunde”, said his administration policy will continue to cut across on infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth and women development, agriculture and food security.

    Among the key projects were Imeke Town Hall; renovation and full furnishing of Ilado and Ayede Yenopawa Primary Health Care Centres with modern medical facilities and solar-powered lighting; Mowo Police Post;  groundbreaking of Aradagun Community Hall; Morogbo Primary Health Centre, and flag-off construction of Old Mowo road with solar lights.

    Others are: Renovated and furnished Chairman’s and Vice Chairman’s office, the leader of the council office and the chieftaincy chamber, among others.

    He explained that time-to-time empowerment has been designed to be part of his administration’s agenda, aimed at driving progress and development in the local government.

    Kumayon reiterated his commitment to offer women every necessary support that will continually boost their small-scale businesses and financial independence.

    He also pledged his commitment to youth empowerment, especially on education, saying the administration has distributed nothing less than 250 free GCE forms to indigent students.

    Olorunda pledges support for persons living with disabilities

    The Chairman, Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Mr Kumayon Ajose, has assured persons with disabilities that the council would support them.

    He gave the assurance during the third edition of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, in Badagry, organised by Association of Persons with Disabilities, Badagry chapter.

    The theme of the event was: “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress”.

    Ajose said: ‘’I assure you that my administration will not let you down.

    “We will continue to assist you; we will continue to work with your association, to listen to your views, suggestions and advice in every aspect that will alleviate your sufferings in all areas you want to be assisted.

    “In terms of the materials that will aid you to navigate your cause to make you comfortable in any situation, my administration will not let you down.”

    He said the LCDA met the executives of the association some months ago where needs and aspirations of the association were discussed.

    He promised that the council would alleviate their sufferings.

    Mr Monday Tanimowo, who represented Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, urged persons with disabilities not to hide themselves in their homes.

    He urged them to come out and showcase their talents so that people would know they were part of the society.

    Dr Olalekan Mohammed, a lecturer at Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo, Lagos, urged the association to fight for its rights.
