    Olowu of Kuta: My induction into NBR hall of fame comes with greater responsibility

    The Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, HRM Oba Dr. Hammed Makama Oyelude, Tegbosun III, has described his induction into the Nigerian Books of Record (NBR) Hall of Fame as a call to greater service.

    Speaking at his palace in Kuta on Saturday following the honour, Oba Makama said the recognition has placed a huge responsibility on him, emphasising the need to intensify efforts to positively project Nigeria’s image both nationally and internationally.

    The monarch stressed the importance of collective efforts in achieving this mission and pledged his full support to the NBR in his new role as a brand ambassador.

    He said,  “On behalf of my good people of Owu Kuta and Olowu in council, I want to heartily welcome you to my kingdom, the Owu Kuta. A land flowing with milk and honour. 

    “I also want to appreciate the Federal Ministry of Information and, by extension, the National Orientation Agency, NOA, and, more importantly, the Nigerian Books of Record, NBR, for this recognition. I’m fully aware that it comes with huge responsibility. 

    “As you are also aware that I have contributed and am still contributing anytime the need arises to project the Nigerian military which is the symbol of our sovereignty and encourage the officers and men for their sacrifice to rid  our country of divisive elements manifesting  in various forms. 

    “As a result of this, I was recognised by the administration of Gen Muhammadu Buhari rtd, who conferred on me the National honour of Commander of the Order of The Niger, CON.

    “For me , I’m conscious of the fact that the role of traditional rulers in securing their communities  and nation building to use the legal term is sine qua non to egalitarian society.

    “I am also aware that the  NBR was conceived to promote and support the Government in laundering the Nigerian image, by celebrating Nigeria’s excellent records in other to drive the campaign of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (Nigeria) and National Orientation Agency (Nigeria), NOA of attitudinal re-orientation.

    “I align with this onerous task and will ensure that I join in this project of nation building so that the labour of our heroes past shall not be in vain.”

    Speaking earlier, the Director General of NBR, Prof David David, said Oba Makama was found worthy of the honour because of the goodwill he has created for the country both nationally and internationally. 

    He said, ” Our research team did a thorough job to discover Oba Makama based on his intimidating citation to arrive at his choice as the first to be so honoured in the entire Osun State.”

    Also, two awards were also delivered to Oba Makama in quick succession alongside the NBR’s induction. 

    The Big Brothers Club and Nigeria Youth Council, led by its President Aare Oladotun Hassan, conferred on Olowu awards for his developmental efforts in Kuta, his efforts at rallying Yoruba obas together and being a national Icon.

    An elated Oba Makama flanked by his Olori Abebi was grinning from ear to ear as media practitioners, community leaders, and captains of industry joined him in the celebration. 

    Dignitaries at the Occasion include the Rector of Iree Polytechnic,  who represented Osun State Governor, Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, Member House of Representatives, representing Iwo, Aiyedire and Ola Oluwa federal constituencies, Hon Mudashiru Lookman, Hon Akinyemi Elijah of Osun State House of Assembly. 

    Others were pro- Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof Siyan Oyeweso, Timi of Ede, Oba  Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa 11 , Olu of Ile- Ogbo, Oba Olupona, Oba Obaloyan,  Kwara State among others.

    New Year: Olowu of Kuta greets Nigerians, calls for unity, national progress

    The Olowu of Kuta, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama CON, Tegbosun III, has extended warm New Year greetings to Nigerians, applauding their resilience, unity, and patriotism as the nation steps into 2025.

    In his New Year message, the monarch highlighted the significance of reflection and renewed hope for the country’s future. 

    He expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its citizens. 

    Oba Makama urged Nigerians to continue appreciating and supporting the sacrifices of these gallant officers, emphasising that collective effort is key to building a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

    The monarch also pledged his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, encouraging Nigerians to align with the government’s vision of progress, inclusivity, and development. 

    He emphasised that unity and collaboration are essential for achieving milestones in governance and economic growth.

    Oba Makama further underscored the critical role of traditional institutions as custodians of Nigeria’s culture and heritage. 

    He called on citizens to uphold the respect and dignity of these institutions while promoting Isẹ̀ṣe traditions, which he described as anchors of the nation’s identity and unity in diversity.

    “As we begin this new chapter, I pray for peace, prosperity, and progress for our dear country. May 2025 be a year of transformation, renewed hope, and unprecedented achievements for Nigeria,” the Olowu said.

    “I wish to express profound gratitude to the gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies. Your unwavering commitment to the defence of our sovereignty and the security of our people remains a beacon of hope. I urge all Nigerians to continue supporting and appreciating the sacrifices of our military. Together, we can build a safer and more prosperous nation.

    “As the mantle of leadership rests firmly on His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

    “I encourage every citizen to align with the vision of progress, inclusivity, and national development that his administration embodies.”

    The royal father concluded his message with a call for all Nigerians to work collectively towards national transformation and wished everyone a Happy New Year.

    Adeleke celebrates Olowu of Kuta at 60, hails monarch’s open door policy

    Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has rejoiced with the Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Hameed Adekunle Makama Oyelude (Tegbosun III), on the auspicious occasion of his birthday, describing him as a delightful example of devotion to the people.

    Governor Adeleke, who acknowledged that Oba Oyelude sustained efforts in fostering peace and harmony in his domain, noted that the monarch’s open door policy and soft power approach has engendered unity among subjects.

    The governor lauded Oba Oyelude’s steadfast observation of culture and traditions, adding that the monarch continues to inspire a great deal of interest in Yoruba’s rich heritage through appearances and utterances.

    The governor’s message was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.

    He said: “On this auspicious day, I congratulate HRM Oba Hameed Adekunle Makama Oyelude (Tegbosun III).     “As he turns 60 years today, I join every sons and daughters of Kuta to celebrate Kabiyesi, and commend him for the incredible leadership he exudes just as I honour his commitment to fostering peace and stability by promoting harmony in his domain.

    “It is my prayer that God Almighty will grant Kabiyesi more celebrations in good health, strength and wisdom so that he can continue to offer impactful leadership and also to contribute to the promotion of Yoruba’s culture, traditions and values.”
