Ogunsina said: “We gathered here today for the programme initiated by Prophet Sam Olu Alo. The prophet has donated vehicles to this local government for the security operatives to be more effective in securing this LGA.

Lent/Ramadan: Pray for peace, unity, Olu Alo urges Nigerians

Planter of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain World-wide, Prophet Sam Olu Alo, has called on Nigerians, particularly Muslims and Christians to use their respective fasting periods of Ramadan and Lenten to pray for peace, unity, and progress of Nigeria.

The Cleric, while congratulating practitioners of both religion urged them to embrace spirit of love, kindness, and generosity that defines the sacred holy period.

A statement by the Personal Assistant to the Cleric, Hon. Deji Ogunbusuyi stated that prayer and fasting are essential tools for spiritual growth and development, saying Nigerians should utilize this time to seek divine intervention in the country’s challenges.

According to him, collective prayer and fasting can bring about a sense of unity and purpose among Nigerians, and ultimately lead to a more peaceful and prosperous nation.

He urged Nigerians to remember the less privileged and vulnerable members in society during this period, noting that both Muslims and Christians should engage in acts of charity and kindness, such as providing food and clothing to those in need.

As Muslims begin their 30-day fast, Prophet Alo reminded them that Ramadan is a time for spiritual rejuvenation and self-reflection, urging them to use this period to strengthen their faith, seek forgiveness, and renew their commitment to Allah.

As Christians observe the 40-day Lenten period, Prophet Alo called on them to use this time for introspection, self-reflection, and spiritual growth. He encouraged them to pray for Nigeria, its leaders, and its people, and to seek divine guidance and wisdom.

He called on Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu, Ekiti Governor Abiodun Oyebanji and other leaders during the holy months of Ramadan and Lent.

He said the prayer became necessary to seek divine guidance and wisdom for the leaders as they navigate the country’s challenges.

He however urged Nigerians to seek divine intervention in the country’s challenges and to work towards a more peaceful and prosperous nation.

He said the decision of the United States President, Donald Trump to cut foreign aid to most African countries should not be seen as entirely negative.

The Cleric noted that while the move might seem unsettling, Trump was acting in his country’s best interest.

Reading from Psalm 25:10, he urged Christians to keep God’s commandments, stressing that divine mercy plays a crucial role in human success. “When people lose the mercy of God, failure becomes inevitable,” warning that pride, deceit and ingratitude often block people from receiving mercy.

He urged Nigerians to make sacrifices for others, stating that giving without expecting rewards opens doors to divine favour.

Over 2,000 widows, less privileged get Olu Alo’s empowerment, scholarship

Over 2,000 widows, aged, youths, students and vulnerable people in Ekiti State have benefitted from the 2024 edition empowerment and scholarship award programme by renowned cleric, Prophet Sam Olu Alo.

The cleric, who gave out food items, cash and clothing materials to the beneficiaries also presented cheques to some secondary students in Ekiti state for the payment of their WAEC fees.

The prophet also donated a multi-million industrial borehole to Orin Ekiti community, home town of his mother.

Speaking at his hometown in Ido Ekiti, the Cleric said the scheme, which has been in existence since 13 years, was in fulfilment of his pledge to God during youthful days.

The cleric urged Federal Government to invest more on public schools and rework their operations to bring back their old glory of top performance, saying such action will ensure quality teaching and learning in all public primary, secondary and higher institutions in the country.

He also called on Nigerian leaders to make deliberate efforts at changing the country for better and the citizens to eschew all forms of corruption for Nigeria to develop.

According to him, no amount of loan given to a student whose school fees is well over one million will be enough.

He said  “A parent who enrolled his child or children in an institution where they pay N500 000, N700 000 as fees is believed to be sufficient financially.

“If I were to be in government, what I will do is to reintroduce free education policy all public schools to free education for the poor Nigeria and also recruit competent teachers. It is because public schools are not as good as of the times , that is why people now prefer to enroll their children and wards in private schools this days.

“Parents are struggling to send their children to school these days. It will be good if President Bola Tinubu can help rejig public schools by coming up with the policy of free education and  recruit quality and competent teachers to be as they were in the olden days , which he himself went through during the time of late Chief Awolowo through which many glorious children were raised.

“You will realise that most of the students that are doing well today in their academics are from private schools.  Even  when they finish from private secondary schools and go to public universities that means they have been given solid foundation”.

Prophet Olu-Alo, who suggested the loan facility be given to the parents and not the students in private universities, arguing giving the loans directly to the students may create problems.

“The highest amount payable as fees in most public universities in the country depending on the courses is around 400,000 naira. while in private universities, we have those paying 1 million and above, so if they should be given loans it may not work .

“I am sure one of the motive of the government on the students loan to only the public universities students is to make public universities attractive to Nigerian parents and their children again.”

An Ido Ekiti community leader, Hon. prophet Afolabi Olurotimi described prophet Olu-Alo as a true man of God who God is using in the development of the community.

He said:” He has done a lot to contribute to the development of this town. Parts of what he has done is donation of a trailer load of cement for the construction of the community civic centre, donation of a state-of-the-art library to the community, support for widows, aged , youths empowerment. Scholarship to student and establishment of football team and radio state to create job for the teeming unemployed youths”.

Two of the students who receive WAEC fees, Omotola Sunday and Akomolafe Ayomide thanked the cleric for his kind gesture, promising to make the most of the opportunity.

He commiserated with families of the victims that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss, saying the state government must take concrete steps to address the root causes of violence and ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.

Also, the cleric while speaking on demand by organised labour for a new minimum wage, said: “It will be good if their demand is a reduction in electricity tariff, reduction of prices of goods and services, and reduction in prices of foods among others, but if N500,000 is paid as minimum wage, charges of a bricklayer per day will also increase, the mechanic will also increase their money even pepper sellers at the market will increase their money.

“I’ve been praying over it, those in the private sectors, how will they pay minimum wage, let’s all come to the solemn assembly, if well unite and say we want to change in Nigeria and that prices of goods and services should reduce, all countries around us will know that we are fighting for a good course.

“What we are fighting for is good but its end is dangerous, the government if pushed to a certain stage will be forced to cut corners.

“Hardship will increase, and Nigeria’s situation will be worse than before even if N200,000 minimum wage is approved by the government.

“How many things will minimum buy? I pray that God should raise good human rights activists that will set our foot on the right path, I want Nigeria to be at peace, I love my country, my region, and my state, Ekiti.”
