Delta Police Commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogwashi-Uku, following an alarming increase in kidnappings and armed robberies in the community.
This came after a series of complaints circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms about the deteriorating security situation in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South LGA.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations, Aina Adesola, has been directed to deploy tactical teams to the area.
In a statement, the police command public relations officer, Edafe Bright, a superintendent, said as part of the crackdown, combat operatives from Dragon Patrol, Eagle-Net, and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have been stationed at strategic locations to curb criminal activities.

Additionally, the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad (SAKCCS) has been instructed to relocate to Ogwashi-Uku and adopt an intelligence-driven approach to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the attacks.
In a further effort to restore peace, the State Intelligence Department (SID) has also been mobilized for undercover operations and intelligence gathering.
Abaniwonda reassured residents of his commitment to securing lives and property across Delta State and urged the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
