    ‘I will build on Makinde’s programmes’

    A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi, has met councillors, pledging to build on the developmental strides of Governor Seyi Makinde.

    Speaking at Iseyin City Hall, Iseyin where members of Oyo State Councillors Forum met, he said his aspiration to govern Oyo State was driven by a commitment to protect and deepen Makinde’s governance reforms as well as strengthen grassroots participation in decision-making.

    He said: “I am here because you are the closest leaders to the people. Governor Makinde has done well, and Oyo State cannot afford to hand over this progress to the wrong person. This is why I say I represent ‘Omituntun 3.0’ — continuity of good governance.”

    The gathering brought together councillors from the 33 local governments, marking the first time, according to participants, a governorship aspirant would engage Councillors Forum at such a level. The forum has 351 members, with three confirmed dead.

    Ajadi, who identified himself as ‘a son of the soil’, is the son of Ibadan business magnate, Chief Bode Amoo and hails from Ward 8, Osengere, Egbeda Local Government.

    NNPP chieftain donates items to correctional centre

    A Southwest chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi, has put smiles on the faces of workers and inmates of Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State.

    He celebrated his birthday with them by donating foodstuffs, drinks, medicines, detergents, toiletries, solar lights, among others, to improve their conditions.

    He also gave gifts to the best behaved male and female inmates, and trophies to the winners of the football and table tennis competitions sponsored by Ajadi Foundation.

    Ajadi said he was working with the authority of Agodi Correctional Centre to free seven inmates by paying their fines.

    He promised to provide solar panel and inverter to power the solar borehole at the centre, and a bus for the centre.

    Speaking after the donation, Ajadi said he came to the centre to celebrate his birthday, to make the inmates happy.

    “I started the idea of celebrating my birthdays at correctional centres two years ago at Ibara Correctional Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

    “I implore the Federal Government to recognise those working at correctional centres and improve their working conditions,’’ he said.

    A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi, has felicitated Muslims on the occasion of New Year Calendar, Hijrah 1446.

    President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad, has declared July 7 as the start of the Islamic New Year — 1446 AH.

    Ajadi in a statement yesterday felicitated Muslims across the country, saying they should use the New Year to bring progress and development to Nigeria.

    He advised Nigerians and the government to use Hijrah 1446 for re-orientation, re-evaluation and re-invigorating of self towards building a new Nigeria.

    A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) and Chairman of Bullion Records, Olufemi Ajadi has congratulated the Muslim Ummah across the country on the commencement of Ramadan.

    Ajadi announced that his compan will be organizing a Ramadan Lecture titled “Submit Yourself for Whom God Has Shown Mercy To”.

    This, he said, is part of ways to enhance piety and to imbibe the spirit of Ramadan,

    Ajadi described the holy month of Ramadan as a blessed month in which Allah rewards the worship of the Ummah.

    He charged Muslims to increase their prayers for the country.

    The businessman called for increased prayers for the country due to the economic hardship currently being faced by the people, saying prayers are of greater essence at this time to turn things around.

    He urged Muslims to demonstrate the lessons of love, kindness and good neighbourliness as taught by Prophet Mohammad.

    He urged those who have enough to remember their neighbours, saying more people are going through hard times.

    On the Ramadan Lecture, Ajadi said it is the second in the series, which will hold at Torotoro Quarters, Ibafo, Ogun State on April 6.

    The guest lecturer is the Chief Tafser of Ilorin Emirate, Alfa Usman Sannu Sheu.
