  • Buhari approves new appointments

    President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of three Directors-General/Chief Executive Officers of three Agencies under the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.

    The President, according to a statement by Olusegun A. Adekunle, Permanent Secretary (General Services Office) in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, enjoined the new appointees to use their expertise and varied experiences to reposition and reinvigorate the agencies.

    He charged them to discharge their duties with utmost rectitude and sensitivity to Government’s commitment to enhancing mining and steel sector as a major driver of the Administration’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.

    The new appointments include Engr. Umar Albarka Hassan as Director-General/ CEO of the National Steel Raw Materials Exploration Agency (NSRMEA), Kaduna for initial period of four years, with effect from 12th July, 2018.

    For the National Metallurgical Development Centre, Jos, Prof. (Engr.) Linus Okon Asuquo, was appointed as the Director-General/CEO for initial period of four years, with effect from 12th July, 2018.

    Prof. (Engr.) Suleiman Bolaji Hassan was appointed as the Director-General/ CEO for Nigeria Institute of Mining and Geosciences, Jos, for initial period of four years, with effect from 12th July, 2018.

  • Buhari approves four appointments in Federal Government agencies

    President Muhammadu Buhari has approved new appointments for four Federal Government Agencies in the country.

    In a statement by the Permanent Secretary (General Services Office) at the Office of the Secretary to the Government Federation (SGF),  Olusegun A. Adekunle, the President charged the appointees to deliver selfless, exemplary and socially impactful services.

    He also urged for strict observance of the extant policies, guidelines, rules and stipulations guiding the discharge of their offices.

    The new appointments included Dr. Anasa Ahmad Sabir as Chief Medical Director (CMD) for Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto.

    His appointment is initial period of four years with effect from 17th May, 2018.

    Dr. Theresa Obumneme Okoli was appointed as Provost for the Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Anambra State.

    His appointment also is for initial period of four years with effect from 17th May, 2018.

    For the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri was appointed as the Provost for initial period of four years with effect from 17th May, 2018

    Dr. Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi was appointed as the Director/CEO of Directorate of Technical Aid Corps.

    His appointment, in accordance with section 9 (2)b of Directorate of Technical Aid Corps Act, 2004, is for a second and final term of five (5) years with effect from 10thAugust, 2018.

     

  • Buhari approves new appointments

    President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the new appointments following the nominees confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

    According to a statement by Olusegun A. Adekunle, Esq. Permanent Secretary, in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the new appointments include Anthony Okechukwu Ojukwu as Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission for initial term of five years.

    Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is the Non-Executive Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, for initial term of four years.

    Chika Ama, Nwauwa is also Non-Executive Director, Niger Delta Development Commission. for initial term of four years.

    Also Nwogu N. Nwogu has been appointed as Non-Executive Director, Niger Delta Development Commission for initial term of four years.

    Professor James Momoh is the Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission for initial term of five years.

    The appointments, the statement said, take immediate effect.

  • FG reverses suspension of DG National Women Development Centre

    The Federal Government has noted with concern the development at the National Women Development Centre, especially the purported suspension of the Director-General Mrs. Mary Ikpere Eta by the Governing Board, which was inaugurated very recently.
    A statement by Olusegun A. Adekunle, Esq.Permanent Secretary (General Services Office) in the
    Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, on Friday disclosed that Mrs. Mary Ikpere Eta has been directed to resume her duties immediately.
    The statement reads “To all intents and purposes, Government reiterates the position that Boards of Agencies are to provide general policy guidelines and frameworks, and not to interfere with the day to day management of the Agencies.
    “The Boards and Chief Executive Officers are all appointed by Mr. President, according to stated terms and conditions with clearly established rules and procedures for subjecting Chief Executive Officers to disciplinary measures including suspension from office.  In this respect, this process has not been followed.
    “Consequently, Government directs the reversal of the suspension of Mrs. Mary Ikpere Eta as the Director-General.  She is accordingly directed to resume her duties immediately at the National Women Development Centre.
    “Government believes in due process, and will not tolerate any arbitrary action taken by any Board of any Federal Government Agency.” it stated
    The government also warned the boards to maintain government Position on sittings, Non-Interference.
    Another statement by Lawrence Ojabo, Director Information, Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has urged the boards to adhere strictly to extant regulations and directives of the Federal Government on frequency of sittings and non- interference in the administrative routines and management of the agencies.
    The SGF warned that any Managing Director that flouts the directives will bear the costs.
