    When Omo Door-to-Door campaign landed in Awka, Anambra State, last week,  it gained even newer fans. This happened after the leading detergent entered into, and won the ‘Ultimate Showdown’; a washing competition between the Brand Ambassador, Chioma and a 25-year-old resident of Amawbia community, Amaka Chidiebere  to demonstrate the efficacy of the new, pocket-friendly 100 gram Omo Fast Action.

    Omo, a trusted household detergent, has continued to deliver effective results by removing stains every time it is put to wash test. The hand washing powder has been going around the country to wash off some of Nigeria’s biggest brands.

    This time, Nollywood actress and Omo Brand Ambassador, Chioma Akpotha went visiting the residents of 40 households in Ngozika Estate, Awka, Anambra State, who showed surprise as Akpotha offered at no cost, the new and best value 100 gram packs of Omo Fast Action Detergent in the latest instalment of Unilever Nigeria’s Omo Door-to-Door Campaign, assuring them of its power against stain.

    One of the beneficiaries, Emeka Moneme, expressed that, “My family and I have been using Omo for as long as I can remember. It is the most effective stain remover we have tried, and the Fast Action 100 gram pack will offer even greater value. My wife is happy that we can make extra savings and get more for less.”

    Commenting on the Omo Door-to-Door Campaign, Brand Manager, Omo, Sarah Adoki described it as a unique way of connecting with existing and prospective customers, noting that Unilever Nigeria would continue to meet Nigerians’ demands for top quality and affordable consumer goods.

    Adoki disclosed, “Omo is a brand that has been a part of many Nigerian homes. It is so much a part of their lives, that it is already being substituted as the name for all detergents at retail points. This tells you how much Omo has become a part of everyday life.”

    She concluded, “We listen to our consumers, which is why with just N50, you can get so much detergent powder at a best value.”

    The city of Awka in Anambra State was thrilled when Unilever Nigeria Plc’s giant brand – Omo Fast Action, formally introduced the 100 gram pack to its residents.

    The team, led by Nollywood superstar and Omo Brand Ambassador, Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha visited various homes in the Ngozika Estate to hand them complimentary 100 gram Omo packs while informing them about the superior stain removing technology and power of the detergent.

    Speaking on the occasion, Chioma described the initiative as a means of creating awareness for the new pocket-friendly 100 gm detergent which retains Omo’s fastest tough stain removing power. “The great thing about the 100 gram pack is that while it cost just N50, it still delivers the same quality cleaning performance the Omo brand is known and trusted for,” she added.

    One of the residents, Emeka Moneme, expressed that, “My family and I have been using Omo for as long as I can remember. It is the most effective stain remover we know, and the 100 gram pack will enable me and my wife get more value at less cost.”

    The visit was capped off with an exciting ‘Ultimate Showdown’ washing contest,  Omo went head to head with the leading detergent in the market and as always, Omo came out as the champion of the detergents in Awka.

    According to Omo Brand Manager, Sarah Adoki stated that the 100 gram pack proves Omo is an innovative and responsive to the needs of its teeming consumers.  “The 100 gram pack was introduced to make Omo more available to a greater number of consumers at less cost. It’s the same quality and at only N50, there is no better bargain in the market today”.

    It was excitement all the way in Abuja as Unilever Nigeria Plc was in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to formally introduce the new 100 gram pack of its Omo Fast Action detergent to residents.

    The Omo entourage led by popular actor and Omo brand ambassador, Ali Nuhu made door to door stops at the Nyanya, Mararaba, Lugbe, Kubwa, Kuje and Gwagwalada areas of the city where he handed out complimentary packs to families while informing them of the improved qualities.

    According to Nuhu, Omo has been a leading brand for decades and people have come to trust it for the effective cleaning power and ability to handle tough stains on laundry. He explained that the new 100 gram pack was being launched to make the product more affordable and accessible to a larger section of the consuming public.

    Assuring on the quality, he said: ”It is the same Omo with superior stain removing power in more affordable pack and it only costs N50,” adding that there is no better alternative in the market today.

    Mrs. Abibatu Jimoh, one of the spectators, who also took part in the demo wash, expressed her satisfaction with the detergent, saying: “My experience today with Omo has further strengthened my resolve to remain loyal to the brand.”

    Hadiza Joseph a mother of three who received a complimentary pack lauded the brand for such an initiative. “We used to use Omo in my father’s house while growing up but when I got married, we started trying other detergents available in the market. Today, after trying this new Fast Action, I am more than convinced that it is the best out there! This visit by Ali Nuhu and the team has helped me find my way back to Omo,” she said.

    Unilever Nigeria, maker of Omo detergent, has embarked on the ultimate showdown challenge across the country. The programme buttresses the fact that Omo, Nigeria’s top detergent brand for over fifty years, removes toughest stains in just a one wash.

    At the ‘Wash Demos’, members of the public will be invited to participate in the challenge and also express their observations as ‘Omo Fast Action’ detergent goes head to head with competition to settle once and for all which brand is the fastest tough stain remover.

    In its renewed effort to pull its weight behind developing kids ambition through creative art & writing in Nigeria, Unilever Nigeria, manufacturers of OMO have launched OMO Imagine & Achieve, a Creative Art Competition initiative, tagged Unleash Your Potential  which would be targeted at helping school Children across Nigeria develop their innate art skills.

    According to the Brand Manager OMO, Sarah Adoki, during the official launch of the initiative at Carol Nursery and Primary School, Ikeja, she said “we decided to embark on this initiative because we feel it is highly important we develop our children, thereby helping them realize their dreams.”

    Adoki said investing in children’s future is key to ensuring a better society for the good of all, saying that is why OMO is emphasizing that all hands be on deck, especially the parents/guardians, as they are integral to the growth of the Nigerian child.

    ”In supporting their growth, we on our part decided to help children across the country unleash that hidden potential inherent in them through a Creative Art and Essay Competition which will see them express that which even their parents never knew they had in them.”

    As for the Creative Art Competition, school children, would be required to creatively produce an art work, showing their future career beautified with empty sachets of OMO Fast Action. After this is done, OMO’s brand Ambassadors would collect all artwork from schools following which the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd positions in each school will be rewarded individually. Eventual winners from each school would compete with other schools culminating in the emergence of State winners. These state champions will then be invited with a parent/guardian to Lagos where they will compete nationally at the grand finale where an one student will be named the overall champion.

    She further noted that prizes to be won in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd category are laptops, for the Essay are;   Laptop, N30,000 bursary, and N20,000 bursary while the Grand Finale will see the winners in the first second and third category go home with N1 million bursary, N500,000; and N200,000 respectively.

    Those who emerge winners in the states will also smile home with the sum of N50,000 each

    Adoki continued: “In the case of the Essay Competition, participants would be required to write a short essay based on the theme: ‘How Mum has helped me achieve success by washing my clothes with OMO fast action detergent’. They would be required to submit the essay with empty OMO packs, a minimum of 30 sachets of 30g, 5 sachets of 250g or 2 sachets of 1Kg to qualify, multiple weekly entries would be allowed per student, following which instant prizes will be won weekly by the first 50 children to submit.

    “Participants would also be expected to write their name, class, age, school, address, parents’, phone numbers and include their mother’s signature. Schools with the highest entries will have their school signboard branded, and will earn sponsorship support of sports activities, etc. consolation prizes will also be given.”

    NOLLYWOOD actors, Funke Akindele, Ali Nuhu and Chioma Akpotha have been named as ambassadors for new Omo fast action detergent.

    This development, according to the management of Unilever Nigeria, is part of its commitment to making the washing experience better for consumers across the country.

    At the unveiling of the new ambassadors, David Okeme, Brand Building Director of Unilever Nigeria, stated that “the new Omo contains max clean particles, which penetrate deeper to tackle even the most stubborn stains to deliver the best results. The product has also been reformulated to be gentle on hands and good for white and colour clothes.”

    Okeme added that key to the Omo brand is the commitment to the Cleaner Planet Plan, a pledge supported by several of Unilever’s laundry brands through which they are minimizing their impact on the environment. Omo has also formulated their new Omo brand to provide effective washing at low temperatures, while saving the user’s energy and money.

  • Omo challenges pupils on future careers

    Put them to task and they will not disappoint. That is what judges of the Omo Art Competition concluded about the artworks produced by primary school pupils that participated in the Imagine and Achieve Omo Art Competition 2012, organised by Unilever Nigeria.

    They were challenged to prepare collages of their future careers using cardboards and empty Omo packages as materials.

    From bankers, doctors and judges, to accountants and pilots, the pupils employed the collages to describe their future professions.

    Over 200,000 pupils from 5,100 schools in 15 states submitted entries for the first stage of the competition November last year.

    Preliminaries of the competition were concluded in all states in February from which the best schools were selected for the state finals.

    The organisers disbursed N2.7millon as cash awards to the top three winners in each state.

    At the Lagos finals held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, where over 100 art works were exhibited, the three winners rewarded were: Master Jeremiah Ochalefu of Ahmed Memorial Nursery/Primary School, Agege, Lagos who won the star prize of N100,000 for coming first, Etim Okon Emma of New Wine Montessori School, Lagos (N50,000 for second place, and Master Justin Okor of Duro Oyedoyin Primary School, Surulere, N30,000 for third place.

    In his remarks, Brand Building Director, Mr David Okeme said the competition was initiated to stimulate creativity among primary school pupils.
