‘We’re not privy to allegation against Ondo REC’

The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State on Monday debunked the report calling on the Police and Directorate of State Security (DSS) to investigate the activities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

The state Publicity Secretary, of the party, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, in a statement last Wednesday, also expressed the need for the total overhauling of staff in the Commission ahead of the November 26 governorship election in the state.

Adesanya accused the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Segun Agbaje and the Commission’s Administrative Secretary, Alhaji Kabir Omosanya of complicity with the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State led by one Clement Faboyede.

He alleged that the two top officers of the commission have been having shady deals through an unholy alliance with key loyalists of the  Governor Olusegun Mimiko to perpetrate fraud ahead of the forthcoming governorship poll.

However, the APC chairman in the state, Isaac Kekemeke said his executives were not privy to the statement.

According to him,“before any statement of such could be made public,or even any policy statement from the party executives,it must be agreed upon and ratified by the party executives.

“But the publicity secretary who issued the statement to the press must have equipped himself with facts of the allegation, which spurred him to unilaterally fired the shot without inputs of the state excos.”

Kekemeke said he received calls from many APC leaders within and outside the state on the sensitive allegation in order to ascertain its veracity, saying“I just told them that Adesanya must have got the proofs of the allegation before issuing the statement.

“Although, the allegation had caused a lot of embarrassment to the party, but as the Party Chairman in the State,I have no pre-knowledge of the allegation, and none of my state executives was aware of it,we did nt discuss it at any of our meetings and as such,we are not a party to the allegation against the REC”

The legal practitioner said the state executive remains committed to the victory of APC in the state on November 26.

Kekemeke urged party members to work to remain calm and mobilise voters for the poll.

Ondo APC denies imposition of candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has denied the imposition of one of the Aspirants as candidate for the November 26 gubernatorial poll.

There was an allegation that an entrepreneur, Segun Abraham is being picked by the National Leadership of the APC as the candidate.

The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya said the opposition party would conduct a transparent primary election for the twenty-five aspirants that have shown interest in the party’s ticket.

He stressed that over 3,000 delegates among the party leaders would participate in the conduct of the election where the party’s main flag-bearer would emerge.

According to him, “The people of Ondo State should have patience with us, as this could be the handwork of our opposition in the State.

“The leaders of the All Progressives Congress have not imposed anybody on the party and there is definitely no room for such because everybody is preparing for the primary election.

“Just as the leaders have reiterated, we [APC] in Ondo State are going to conduct a credible primary election where our candidate would emerge and its process shall be transparent and credible,”

He urged the party supporters to remain united in order to wrest power from the present Mimiko’s which he accused of low performance.

  • APC to Mimiko: Explain how you spent Ondo funds

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has asked Governor Olusegun Mimiko to explain why there is only N3.4billion in the coffer of the state.
The party said the Governor must tell the people of Ondo State how he managed the  Federal allocations collected between January and May.
Addressing reporters in Akure,  the State capital, State Publicity Secretary of the party,  Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya said Governor Mimiko has not explained how he got the N3.4billion and how he has spent the allocations from January.
The APC said one would wonder why the Governor can not put two months allocations together to pay the workers salaries.
It lamented the level of the pains and suffering of workers who are daily hoping to hear the good news from the Governor.
“We noticed the arrogance and challant attitude of the Governor while addressing the workers on Tuesday
“We want to say unequivocally that this Governor believes that he needs nothing from the people of Ondo State
“Mimiko will never addressed workers like that in 2012 while he was seeking a second term in Office “Adesanya said
He said the governor has not denied running various bank accounts on behalf of Ondo State.
“This worker have information,  we are begging them to release it. They are aware that tax payers money is stashed in some bank accounts
“Governor Mimiko is only hiding this money to spend during the forthcoming governorship election ” APC alleged.
The party wondered why they cannot borrow money as he did for the local government elections.
“What value had the local government elections added to the welfare of workers,  if the Governor can borrow money for local government elections,  can’t he borrow to pay workers?
“Mimiko said he has been borrowing for capital projects,  then what has he been doing with Federal allocations? What happened to the state IGR?” the statement read.

APC alleges conversion of bailout funds to soft loans in Ondo

The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ondo State has accused the state government of alleged diversion of the bailout funds as loans to members of NURTW, Artisans, market women in exchange for their voter’s cards. ‎

The fund was initiated by the Federal Government to many states to settle outstanding workers’ salaries, allowances and pensions owed the people. ‎‎
‎A statement by the Party’s Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, said “we have uncovered a new strategy by Governor Olusegun Mimiko to hoodwink the people of Ondo State and to illegally acquire their voter’s cards under the guise of soft loans to certain groups of people and associations in the state.

“These groups include: the National Union of Road, Transport Workers (NURTW), artisans, market women associations, the Okada Riders Association, Tipper union and others.

“Using his surrogates planted within these associations, the governor has started witch-hunting and intimidating members who refused to submit details and photocopy of their voter’s cards.

“He has threatened to deregister and expel them as members of such association/group and that he will not allow them to function within the state.

“Mimiko’s plan is to give soft loans of between N60,000 to N100,000 to every member in exchange for their voter’s card ahead of the 2016 gubernatorial election in the state. He also promised any member with children of voting age an extra N100, 000, depending on the number of children. ‎

“This is obviously robbing Peter to pay Paul. He is robbing the workers in the state of their salaries to give loans to the artisans, NURTW, market women in exchange of their voter’s cards.

“We appeal to these groups/associations and the people of Ondo state not to fall for this evil plot by the Governor. Voter’s card or its information should not be released to anybody or government agents as pre condition or license loan. Doing so will amount to selling their future and that of their children.

“We challenge Ondo State Police command, Directorate of State Security, Ondo State command, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the State to quickly investigate this matter and unravel the government agents behind this dastardly act and bring them to book.”
