    Osifo: Inclusion is the answer

    The All Progressives Congress, (APC) Deputy National  Treasurer, Lady Omorede Osifo, has insisted that her advocacy for the expansion of the National Working Committee membership from five to 10 would create more inclusivity for participation and  opportunity within the party leadership structure.

    Omorede’s position was made known at the recently held National Executive Council, (NEC) of the party. It demonstrated her determination, intelligence and courage in breathing barriers and challenging the status quo.

    The Special Assistant to Osifo, Tunde Biletri, in statement, noted her advocacy for greater inclusivity got the by in among membership of the party including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    Biletri described Omorede Osifo‘s stand as bold adding that she demonstrated a rare quality of challenging what many would ordinary shy away from adding she is not a stranger in breaking barrier in politics.

    “In the ever-evolving landscape of Nigerian politics, where influence is often concentrated in the hands of a select few, Lady  Omorede Osifo has proven that determination, intelligence, and courage can break barriers.

    “Amid a gathering dominated by men, Osifo stood her ground, calling for an expansion of the National Working Committee (NWC) to accommodate more National Deputies.

    “She argued that increasing the number from five to ten would create more opportunities for active participation within the party’s leadership structure.

    “It was a moment that could have been easily dismissed, but her conviction and clarity of purpose resonated deeply with the audience, including the party’s leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    Biletri further added, “Her intervention did not go unnoticed. President Tinubu not only acknowledged her contributions but also expressed his appreciation for the leadership of APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, passing a vote of confidence on his stewardship.

    “More importantly, Tinubu instructed party executives to review the APC constitution to determine the feasibility of Osifo’s proposal. This move underscored her growing influence and her commitment to fostering a more inclusive and dynamic political party.

    “Recognizing the importance of Osifo’s push for expansion, the President established a committee headed by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, to assess the criteria for admitting new members into the NWC.

    “ It was a significant development one that aligned with Osifo’s broader vision of ensuring that all stakeholders, particularly women, have a seat at the table in shaping the party’s future.

    “Osifo is no stranger to breaking barriers in politics. As one of the few women occupying a senior leadership role within the APC, she has consistently championed gender inclusivity and youth engagement.

    Although she remains a staunch member of the APC, she is no longer the influential force she used to be.

    These days, the beautiful woman is focusing more on her personal life.

Ever since the elegant former commissioner for youth sports and social mobilisation in Edo was shown the door by the governor, Adams Oshiomhole, she has walked down and away from the heights of social and political stardom she hitherto enjoyed.

    In her day, she enjoyed immense power and much attention as one of the star names in the governor’s cabinet. That was before she was brought low by powerful machinations in the state.

    At a time a large number of people are trooping into the political turf to test their luck against the current holders of political offices, former Edo State Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Mobilisation, Lady Omorede Osifo, who was relieved of her job by Governor Adams Oshiomole recently, is said to have thrown in the towel in the game that brought her power, influence and means.

    The very fashionable lady, who was said to be very influential in the cabinet of Governor Oshiomhole while she held sway as a commissioner, allegedly quit politics because she felt humiliated by her ouster. Her removal from office was said to have come to her with shock. Months after her release, she was reported to have confided in a friend that her removal had more implications than met the eye because many people throng her place for one favour or the other.

    Although some political observers in the state told Celeb Watch that she left on her own to strategise for her ambition to become the representative of Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2015, others insist that she has quit politics for good.

    IT was time for Edo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Lady Omorede Osifo to go home yesterda. She has been sacked.

    Her sack, according to government sources was as a result of the youth summit organised by the state government last weekend.

    The source said Ms Omorede was not happy that she was informed about the event through a text message on her mobile phone.

    It was also learnt that Governor Adams Oshiomhole was angry that Ms Omorede arrived at the summit in a tracksuit after the opening ceremony and walked away before the event ended.

    Sources said the governor was peeved by the poor lightning at the Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia stadium where a musical concert was held for the youths.

    Commissioner for Information and Orientation Mr. Louis Odion said Omorede removal was a normal administrative process.

    A statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria said the governor wished the sacked official well and appointed Chris Okaeben to oversee the affairs of the ministry pending the approval of the state House of Assembly.
