    30 die in Ondo accident

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has confirmed the death of 30 persons in a road accident at Onipetsi on the Ore-Lagos highway, Odigbo Local Government Area.

    A total of 28 persons were burnt beyond recognition while two others died while being taken to the hospital for treatment.

    Two survivors are said to be receiving treatment in a hospital.

    The accident occurred when two commercial buses had a head on collision and burst into flames.

    Ondo FRSC Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, said preliminary investigation showed one of the vehicles drove against traffic.

    Ibitoye said the accident happened on Saturday.

    He assured that investigation would unravel more details on the incident.

    13 burnt to death in Ondo accident

    The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ondo State Sector Command has confirmed the death of 13 persons in a road accident that occurred at Abule Panu before Ose Bridge along the Owo-Ikare highway after two buses collided and went up in flames.

    It was gathered that the accidents involving two commercial buses happened on Saturday morning.

    One person was said to have survived with serious injuries.

    Eyewitnesses’ accounts said one of the buses coming from the Ikare axis had a tyre blow out and had a head-on collision with the bus loaded with fabric coming from the Owo axis.

     Ondo Sector Commander of the FRSC, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, said the injured victim was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo while remains of the dead were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.

    Ibitoye urged passengers to speak out against dangerous driving.

    Three persons have been confirmed dead as a Nigeria Brewery truck fully loaded with Beer fell on a Golf 111 car at Liyetu area of Ondo town.

    The car marked BUR 852 TS was conveying passengers towards Ondo town.

    Ondo police spokesman, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said one person was injured in the accident.

    Odunlami-Omisanya said the deceased were deposited at the General Hospital Morgue while the injured passenger was taken to Trauma Centre in Ondo town.

    She said Police Motor Traffic Division of Enu-owa have moved in to clear heavy vehicular traffic on the road.

    She noted: “The CP is using this medium to admonish the people of the State especially commuters to avoid over speeding or unnecessary overtaking which can lead to loss of lives and Property while driving, as it is better to get there late, than not getting there.”
