A farmer in Okunmo, Okitipupa Local Government, Akinmoladun Surulere, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate release of assailants that attacked him. 

Surulere said he was attacked while working on his father’s farm in May.

 He said he was shocked when his attackers, identified and arrested, were released by the police after he was assured would be prosecuted.

 He said: “The police carried out some investigation and informed me the investigation showed a prima facie case of armed robbery, attempted murder and grievous bodily harm against the suspects.

The police  informed that the suspect will be charged to court accordingly.

“The police at the State CIID released the suspects and threatened to turn the case against me if I make any attempt at mentioning anything about the case.

“I have been facing unwarranted threats from the suspects. I now live in fear of losing my life.”

 He begged the Police chief to take over investigation of the case to enable him get justice.

A 40-year-old farmer, Abraham Achibong, has been arrested for allegedly molesting his daughter since she was eight.

The daughter, who is now 14, said she summoned courage to spill the bean to her teacher.

She spoke when officials of the Ondo State Primary Health Care officers visited her school on a sensitisation programme on Human Papilloma Virus vaccine.

Her father was arrested and handed over to the Nigeria and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for prosecution.

He confessed to the crime when he was paraded with other suspects.

State Commandant of the NSCDC, Ibiloye Oluyemi, said the suspect would be prosecuted for the crime of rape, molestation and incest.

Also, one Mr. Agu Nzube Matthew, was paraded for duping one Mba Daniel the sum of N5.94m by impersonating the Protocol Officer to Enugu Governor.

According to statement: “The complainant has a parcel of land acquired by a well-known person in Enugu and a compensation was promised. Since the compensation news went viral, the suspect approached the complainant as the protocol officer to the Governor and informed him about the release of cheque of nine million for his compensation but some civil servants needs to be settled to get the cheque out.

“After collecting a total sum of 5.94M, he closed down his shop in Akure and ran away. The suspect was tracked and arrested at Enugu on the 16th of May, 2024.”
