Ondo PDP primary: Aspirant praises Jegede, Sheba for quitting race

A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Ondo State, Bosun Arebuwa, has promised to uphold legacies of Chief Eyitayo Jegede and Hon Abayomi Sheba for accepting not to contest at the party primary scheduled for April 25th.

Jegede was governorship candidate of the PDP in 2016 and 2020.

He lost both elections to late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Last week, Jegede told his supporters he would not be contesting at the PDP primary and that he would support the party to emerge victorious at the polls.

Arebuwa, who spoke at a media parley,
praised the actions of Jegede and Sheba for their exemplary display of sportsmanship by prioritizing the interests of the Ondo State PDP over their worthy personal aspirations, as demonstrated by their withdrawal from the 2024 govenorship race.

He urged delegates to the primary election in April to honour Jegede and Sheba by voting right.

The Chartered Accountant assured delegates and the PDP members of his readiness to lead with integrity and diligence.

Arebuwa promised a vision of service, leadership, and governance aligned with their principles.

According to him: “Their actions underscore the commitment of our party to unity, inclusivity, and collective success in the upcoming election. Ondo State upholds the principles of equity, as evidenced by the party’s practice of the zoning system, ensuring representation from every senatorial district in the highest political leadership roles. I commend both men for upholding this practice.”

“I give my words and appeals to all Ondo State citizens, residents, and all the party loyalists and supporters of my two brothers, namely Chief Eyitayo Jegede, and Hon. Abayami Sheba

“Be assured that you will find in and have through me, Bosun Arebuwa, the great services, leadership, and governance which these two great men conceived in their hearts that moved them to choose to serve you, and for which your hearts have been given to them.”

“Chief Eyitayo Jegede has demonstrated remarkable humility in his decision, considering his distinguished track record, unwavering commitment to the PDP in Ondo State, widespread acceptance among the people, and endorsement by party stalwarts at both state and national levels. His exemplary service and leadership capabilities position him as a beacon of hope for our State. Their action is a testament to our democratic values.”
