    Enyimba’s title defence intact, Osadiaye

Enyimba forward  Joseph Osadiaye believes the side’s title defence is still intact despite the goalless draw against Sunshine Stars.

“We are on the right path to successfully defend our league title. The title hope is on course despite the two successive home draws to Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars. We are confident of getting it right in the remaining make-up matches as well as other matches on the calendar.

“We did everything possible to win the clash against Sunshine Stars but found ourselves in a difficult position to score as two goals were disallowed by the referee. We are still happy to have picked up a point in the clash’ it would have been worse to have forfeited all three points.

“Sunshine Stars did not trouble us throughout the game and I think they will be the happiest side going home with a point. I still believe that our title aspiration is very much alive; nobody should lose sleep over it,” said the former Warri Wolves marksman to supersport.com.

Mamelodi Sundowns will be the toughest, says Enyimba’s Osadiaye

Joseph Osadiaye has stated that Mamelodi Sundowns will beEnyimba’s toughest opponents in the group stage of the 2016 CAF Champions League.

The People’s Elephants were grouped alongside ES Setif, Zamalek and the South African champions.

Sundowns replaced AS Vital, who were thrown out of the group stage of the 2016 CAF Champions League for fielding an ineligible player.

“It’s a known fact that all the teams that made the group stage of the 2016 CAF Champions League are very tough,” Osadiaye told Goal.

“The battle to make the last four and hopefully move from there is obvious, the two north African teams a very tough but I’ll pick South African team,  Mamelodi Sundowns as being toughest because I’ve seen them their matches but we will not underrate anyone.

“A target to make it out of the group stage has been established and that requires that we take each match as they come and hopefully qualify for the semi final stage.”

Osadiaye: Nasarawa win was tougher than Pillars

    • Targets NPFL and champions league titles

Joseph Osadiaye has rated Enyimba’s hard earned win against Nasarawa United at the weekend tougher than the club’s first ever win in Kano against Pillars in week 7.

The Aba Elephants wrapped up the first stanza of the Nigerian Professional Football with a 1-0 win over the Solid Miners courtesy a brilliant freekick from Super Eagles left-back Chima Akas.

“I’m delighted with our win over Nasarawa United,” Osadiaye told SportingLife. “It was a tough game even harder than our away win against Kano Pillars (Enyimba won 2-1).

“It just continues to show the quality in our league and I’m happy that we are grinding out results.”

The former Warri Wolves winger then revealed the Aba Elephants ultimate target for this season.

“We hope to win both the domestic League and CAF Champions League at the end of the season,” he added.

“The team have been working hard and unity is key for us as we see ourselves as brothers and not rivals.

“Enyimba is blessed with quality players and I’m confident we can do great things together.”

Enyimba currently have 27 points after 19-round of matches and could shoot themselves to the top of the log if they win their three outstanding games.

Osadiaye relishes debut goal for Enyimba

Enyimba striker, Joseph Osadiaye has said he was excited to announce his debut campaign with a goal for the People’s Elephant.

The former Warri Wolves marksman scored the lone goal for the Nigerian champions in Wednesday’s NPFL Super 4 match day 1 clash, a 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

Osadiaye said the debut goal is a positive omen for more quality goals to come in the colours of the Aba outfit in subsequent competitive matches.

“It’s not easy for one to score in his debut match. I give God all the praises though the goal was inadequate to give us the whole three points against Nasarawa United. I strongly believe it’s a good sign of more goals to come in other competitive matches.

“I’m keenly looking forward to the commencement of the CAF Champions League and domestic football season to deliver more quality goals,” said the Super Eagles hitman to supersport.com.

Osadiaye said the drive for a new challenge and environment was the force behind his recent switch to the camp of the People’s Elephant.

“I wanted a change of environment as well as a new challenge and I think I found the desires at Enyimba. I hope to enjoy a fulfilled and satisfactory season at Enyimba when the curtain will fall on the coming football season, ” said Osadiaye.

Osadiaye will return to the trenches on Friday in Enyimba’s colours to confront former side Warri Wolves in the NPFL Super 4 match day 2 clash in Kaduna.

    Osadiaye makes Cup semis priority

Warri Wolves forward, Joseph Osadiaye has said his side were more concerned with the Federation Cup semifinal duel against Akwa United than the Glo Premier League Matchday 26 encounter at newcomers, Nembe City, yesterday.

The Seasiders, who shared the spoils with Enyimba on Matchday 25 in Warri, lost 0-1 to Nembe City on Sunday at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa before Wednesday’s grudge Federation Cup semifinal clash in Bauchi against the Uyo-based side.

Osadiaye insisted that they are determined to save the best for the Federation Cup semifinal duel against Akwa United.

Speaking before the defeat to Nembe last night, a confident Osadiaye said; “We’ve done our whole preparation for the game at Nembe City on Sunday, we have our eyes on the three points which will greatly improve our fight back to clinch the top spot.

“Nembe City will only bark but won’t be able to bite us even though we’re not expecting them to lay back without a fight not after they were humbled 0-3 by El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri in the midweek league game.

“But the truth is that we’re thinking less of the league game at Nembe City and more on Wednesday’s Federation Cup semifinal clash against Akwa United in Bauchi. We’ve resolved that Akwa United won’t beat us twice having won the rescheduled Week 16 Glo Premier League encounter in Owerri.

“We’ll conserve our whole energy for the game as it will be humiliating on us to lose again to Akwa United. Wednesday’s clash will decide among the two sides who are superior. We just hope that Nembe City will come to the party to offer us a tough challenge that will serve as dress rehearsal for the epic Federation Cup semifinal clash.

“I’ll strive to add my name on the scorer’s chart against Nembe City but my attention will be to provide the killer goals that will end the ambition of Akwa United in this year’s Federation Cup. Victory against Akwa United will surely make my day and will remain indelible in my football career,” said the Super Eagles hitman to supersport.com.

Warri Wolves are fifth on the log on 39 points, four points ahead of Nembe City from a possible 75 points.

Osadiaye vows to nail Akwa Utd

Warri Wolves striker, Joseph Osadiaye has said he will be the happiest man to score the match winner against his former side, Akwa United.

Both sides will clash in a rescheduled Glo Premier League Matchday 16 game on September 4 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

Osadiaye said his side will not negotiate the three points at stake as it affords them the opportunity to climb to the summit of the league table.

“I know I’m going to score against Akwa United but I’ll be the happiest man to score the winning goal that will nail them.

“We’re going to beat Akwa United for the three points to go clear at the top of the log.

“Three points will see us leapfrog leaders, Kano Pillars while we’ll come back home to cement our position with another three points against Enyimba in Matchday 24 game in Warri.

“The expected victory in the Week 16 tie against the Uyo-based side will define the direction for the mother of all battle in the Federation Cup semifinal.

“We’re battle-ready for Akwa United both in the league as well as the Federation Cup and our resolve is to win all the encounters,” said the Super Eagles hitman to supersport.com.

The Seasiders are second on the 20-team elite league on 37 points, two points behind leaders, Kano Pillars though with lesser matches.
