Tiskies Fashion outfit to revive African prints

Tiskies Global, an African contemporary fashion outfit which specialises in combining African fabrics with Western materials, is set to revive the African prints manufacturers in Nigeria.

Set to unveil its first collection later this month, Mrs Abiola Aluko, CEO Tiskies Global Limited, noted that the major plan of the outfit is to reflect real African women with the popular African prints.

“It is a Nigerian brand in terms of being Afro-centric. We use African prints, thereby helping the Nigerian manufacturers, to go back to business; that is because most of them are dead. Our prints are strictly for our brand and cannot be found in the open markets,” she said.

She identified the lack of mass labour and skills for mass production as some of the challenges she has encountered.

“We have automated machines shipped in, but the fact is that we do not have people who know how to operate them. That is where we come in by giving opportunity for our people to grow by bringing in expertise from abroad to put them through,” Aluko added.

She also noted that the main goal of the company is to reduce importations of foreign materials, stating that; “Our strategy is to attract many customers who are already importing foreign-made garments as well as those retailers but do not have the capacity to import. Our focus will be on four critical success factors; Quality control, product selection, price and production turnaround time.”
