“This is real dividends of democracy at work. I’m impressed and proud to witness this breathtaking transformation that I have seen around here.”

Specifically, Kolawole, who until recently was the Deputy Director News at the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, said one of the marvel of Ilawe Ekiti is the new look General Hospital, which had hitherto been consigned to a mere consulting clinic because of its dilapidated state over the years.

“The last time I visited the Ilawe General Hospital, it was in a sorry state, totally decrepit. You could tell that the place just existed in name only because things had gone pretty awful. Poor facility, unmotivated workforce, low patronage and totally moribund, just name it.

Veteran broadcaster drums support for Oyebanji’s second term

A veteran broadcaster and media consultant, Mrs Ronke Kolawole has rallied support behind Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s second term.

Speaking with some journalists shortly after a private tour of facility in Ilawe Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Wednesday, the veteran broadcaster, who is an indigene of the town described the visible transformation that has taken place in the community as really breathtaking.

According to her, the Ilawe Ekiti community has never had it so good as far as infrastructure and socioeconomic development is concerned.

“This is real dividends of democracy at work. I’m impressed and proud to witness this breathtaking transformation that I have seen around here.”

Specifically, Mrs Kolawole, who until recently was the Deputy Director News at the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, said one of the marvel of Ilawe Ekiti is the new look General Hospital, which had hitherto been consigned to a mere consulting clinic because of its dilapidated state over the years.

“The last time I visited the Ilawe General Hospital, it was in a sorry state, totally decrepit. You could tell that the place was just existing in name only because things had gone pretty awful. Poor facility, unmotivated workforce, low patronage and totally moribund, just name it.

“Few weeks ago when I saw the fanfare on display when the governor came to inaugurate the hospital, I thought to myself that this could well be another make-believe thing or just for the optics. So I thought to myself why not just go for a self-assessment to ascertain the state of things hence I visited. I didn’t recognise the place at all.

“Everything looked out of this world right from the road leading to the hospital. Everything looked sparklingly new. I was like is this really possible, the level of transformation that has taken place here? But I got a real shocker when I went to inspect the entire facility itself.

“Apart from seeing new structures dotting the landscape, I saw a newly equipped facility. I was assisted by one of the medical personnel who took me on a tour of the different state-of-the-arts equipment that have been fully installed in the facility and openly boasted that the hospital can favourably compete with any other one around in terms of amenities.”

She recalled that the medical personnel who would not be named because he was not authorised to speak, said, “As we speak, the hospital can conveniently carry out series of standard laboratory tests as it houses electrolite, urea and creatine machines, blood count machine. It can carry out homoprofile test, culture and sensitivity test. Even a blood bank was also installed.”

“In addition, the facility can now boast of standard theatre with an aesthetic machine. A radiant warmer is also available for babies. Aside totally rehabilitating all available wards, a new maternity ward was constructed with modern bed and mattresses.”

While further giving an assessment of the hospital, Mrs Kolawole, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ward 5, Unit 5, Ilawe Ekiti, revealed that another distinct feature at the hospital is the availability of power supply.

“With the benefit of hindsight, Governor BAO has permanently resolved the challenge of power supply that mars treatment at many hospitals by keying into solar energy that has the capacity to power the hospital all at once even with the theatre for twenty-four hours. He also donated a 7.5 kva generator as a back up.”

Pressed further, she said, “From my observation, generally the hospital is wearing a new look and sparkling, so friendly while the environment is clean. Even the car park and the perimeter fencing gladdened my heart.

“Everywhere I turned, I saw the smiling faces of workers who are now happy to come to work because of the new look of their workplace while the availability of equipment is also a moral booster especially.

“The low patronage has greatly improved since members from the two adjoining towns in Ekiti Southwest(Igbara Odo and Ogotun can now easily access the hospital because service delivery is now prompt just as manpower has also increased as additional eight nurses were posted to strengthen the workforce with the hope of employing more medical doctors.

“Looking at the transformation of the Ilawe General Hospital and other projects executed by Governor BAO, I’m proud of being an indigene of Ekiti state.

“Of course, I’m aware that healthcare is a priority of the governor as evident in what I saw in Ilawe Ekiti, especially the quality of the hospital has portrayed him as a man of integrity and a man of his words who wants to bring smiles to the faces of the Ekiti Southwest.

“Seeing the jubilant moods of the beneficiaries, it shows that the electorate are not asking for too much from their leaders after all. All they need are the basic amenities and when these are made available, they can lead comfortable and decent lives.

“With joy in my heart after my private tour, I made my way out of the hospital to the welcoming arms of the twenty kilometers stretch of the newly rehabilitated Ilawe/Ikere road which almost became jinxed before Governor BAO took it up, sealed and delivered to the motoring public.”

  • Oyebanji: The man with magic wand

Oyebanji: The man with magic wand

    By Ifedayo Sayo

Many times in Nigeria, elections are often seen as war that must be won at all cost. This accounted for thuggery and all forms of malpractices that accompanied elections in the country resulting in acrimonious legal tussles.

But this is about to change with the coming governorship election in Ekiti State. This is not to say that there will not be competition but it is almost a settled election, as there is unanimity among the people that the incumbent, Biodun Oyebanji should be allowed to spend eight years at a stretch for the first time in the history of the state. Almost all the segments of the state, including opposition leaders who could have provided the most needed opposition are lined up behind the governor to help him realise his second term ambition.

To these political gladiators the incumbent governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has lived up to expectation, particularly in the area of infrastructural development, prudent management of the state finances and for giving all stakeholders a sense of belonging in the scheme of things.

While this may come as a surprise to many outsiders, it is indeed a product of hard work embarked upon by the governor since he assumed office. He was able to bring on board notable leaders like Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Chief Deji Fasuan and a host of others who are not politicians. He visited them regularly to brief them on the programmes of his administration. They in turn advise him and buy-in into what he is doing to improve the lot of the people.

Having participated in different administrations since the return of democracy, Oyebanji understands the politics of the state like any other local boy. He is the first governor that could be regarded as a local boy. He schooled and grew up in the state unlike his predecessors.

He started as Special Assistant on Parliamentary Affairs (SAPA) to the former Governor Niyi Adebayo, rising to the position of Chief of Staff to the governor. He later served as commissioners in different ministries under the administration of former Governor Kayode Fayemi and ended it as Secretary to the State Government.

His experience in these positions became handy as the governor of the state. He not only played the street cards to bring everybody on board of his government, he was able to get opposition leaders who could have proved a stumbling block to his second term ambition to line behind his administration. These include the former governor of the state, Ayo Fayose, former deputy governor, Senator Biodun Olujimi and many others. These people sing his praises everywhere they go as the best thing to have happened to the state.

Fayose at different fora described him as “the best person to govern the state currently”. He said Oyebanji has become a bridge-builder who brought all on board his administration and made himself accessible to all leaders. He believed that Oyebanji will not break his record in office but surpass it. It was therefore not a surprise that he joined other stakeholders in the state to endorse his second term ambition.

What actually surprised many is the fact Oyebanji had always carried himself in many positions he occupied as a technocrat who would never seek electoral office. Though, he distinguished himself very well in his former offices to the admiration of many. Before he contested for the position of the governor many may have doubted that he would ever contest for elective office because of his usual refrain “I ‘m not a politician” for which he was known.

His decision to seek the governorship position came to many as a surprise, having distanced himself from the ordinary Nigerian politician. His ambition at that time was not helped by the fact that he has always been seen as a frank and blunt personality who does not hide his feelings or position on any issue. Agree or disagree with him, he does not queue behind the crowd and would speak out his mind on any issue.

He was also a different politician that will not sugar-coat any position he has on any issue. Oyebanji will speak his mind bluntly, not minding who is offended. But the fact that he has weathered the storm and came out as the only candidate of the All Progressives Congress {APC} will always surprise many.

Apparently, his integrity, humility and empathy made way for him. He often displayed his omoluabi attributes which attracted both the young and old who regularly flooded his country home in Ikogosi every weekend to interact with him.

As a man of the people who daily goes on the streets to get first and information about the needs of the people, Oyebanji is fully abreast of development in the state. This has earned him the support and the respect of the people. He knew that the failure of his predecessors to get elected following the expiration of their first term stemmed from their limited interaction with the people.

So, Oyebanji would not allow this to stop his second term ambition as he listened and personally interacted with the people. He is easily accessible through his telephone lines as he regularly attends to calls by the people.

Aside from unifying the political gladiators and the people behind him, Oyebanji has been praised for his prudent economic management of the state. He was credited to have paid gratuities to retirees to the tune of N14.6 billion while pensions are regularly paid to enable them live a better life in retirement.

Recently, Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ahmed Usman Ododo were in the state to commission some of the roads constructed by Oyebanji. They were full of praise for him for having lived up to the expectations of his people. Also, the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zach Adedeji who commissioned the state revenue building was amazed that the governor has not failed to deliver on his electoral promises.

As the state enters into election mood, the stage is set for an amazing time devoid of any act of crisis that could mar the next governorship election. More importantly, all the former governors of the state, Niyi Adebayo, Ayo Fayose, Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi, though belonging to different political parties have already endorsed his second term ambition.

Besides, the political gladiators, various unions and associations have made their position known that they will support the governor, thereby giving an impression that the state will for the first have a successful election devoid of any acrimony.

    • Carnival-like atmosphere at Ekiti APC state congress

The atmosphere at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado Ekiti was convivial, indeed carnival-like.

Music blared from the stands as party faithful danced enthusiastically.

The situation could be taken for a big party but it was a major political activity.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) was receiving his affirmation as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for next year’s election slated for June 20.

All the political bigwigs in the state were there and so were the 885 delegates made up of five each from the 177 wards across the state.

The delegates were elected on Saturday.

The event got underway with Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo in charge as the electoral officer, supported by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The only aspirant, cleared to contest against the governor,  Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo, set the tone for the day when she formally stepped down to enable the governor continue with the good work, thereby paving the way for only Oyebanji in the race.

Next, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele stepped forward and moved the motion for the ratification of Oyebanji’s nomination as the APC governorship candidate.

The motion was seconded by House of Assembly Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye, in line with Section 84(11) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

The motion was put to a voice vote and delegates chorused a resounding “yes”.

    There was no “ney”.

Ododo announced the nomination and handed Oyebanji the party’s flag as its standard bearer.

The Kogi governor affirmed that the primary was conducted in line with Constitution of the APC, Electoral Acts and all legal requirements guiding the emergence of a standard bearer.

He thanked the delegates, party members and leaders for their peaceful conduct, describing the consensus arrangement that produced Oyebanji as a milestone in the nation’s political evolution.

Ododo said that Ekiti had once again set a remarkable precedent in Nigeria’s electoral history, adding that with the successful completion of the primary, the era of wasting material and human resources on litigations was over.

“The issue of material resources wasting away on litigation is over. The issue of killing one another is over. There is a need to learn from Governor Oyebanji’s style of politics.

“Ekiti has set a precedence in the history of the country’s electoral system that all other states should emulate”, he added.

Ododo hailed the consensus arrangement as a reflection of the party’s unity and confidence in the leadership of the governor, noting that the process was driven by mutual consent.

    Nobody was coerced

“This exercise is another democratization of APC’s internal process. Ekiti has set a model for others to emulate. The endorsement of Governor Oyebanji mirrors the trust and confidence of the people in his leadership,” Ododo added.

He praised Oyebanji’s administration for promoting good governance primarily anchored on transparency, inclusion and accountability, adding that his return as candidate placed the APC in a strong position ahead of next year’s election.

Oyebanji described the endorsement as an affirmation of the collective decision of thousands of APC members across the state.

He expressed deep appreciation to the leaders and delegates for the trust and support, assuring that he would not take confidence reposed in him for granted.

He added that his emergence as  the consensus candidate reflected political maturity and unity within the APC, saying: “I have been around for more than two decades, and this is the first time a ruling party will be presenting a consensus candidate. This is a demonstration of political maturity.”

Oyebanji declared that there was no victor or vanquished in the contest, noting that all aspirants were winners.

He said: “This victory belongs to every member of our great party.”

Oyebanji extended a hand of fellowship to the disqualified aspirant, Mr. Kayode Ojo, who is the pro-chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN) and called for cooperation to ensure total victory for the APC during the governorship poll.

He urged party members to return to their respective wards and continue mobilizing grassroots support ahead of the commencement of the governorship campaign.

The governor cautioned against internal wrangling, character assassination and divisive tendencies that could undermine the unity of the party.

Oyebanji expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support, encouragement, and political guidance, noting that the successful outcome of the primary was largely due to the President’s leadership and commitment to internal democracy.

“I appreciate President Bola Tinubu for his support and encouragement and everything he did for what we are witnessing today. It happened due to his political dexterity,” he added.

There was heavy security presence at the venue. But people were allowed to move freely.

Vehicular movement around the venue was restricted, and checkpoints were mounted along major routes leading to the area.

At the event were wife of the governor Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, former Governor Niyi Adebayo, Ex-governor Kayode Fayemi and his wife, Erelu Bisi, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, members of the House of Representatives, members of the House of Assembly, APC State Chairman Sola Elesin, Chief Joel Omoniyi, Senator Ayo Arise,Akin Rotimi, and Bamidele Faparusi.

It was an atmosphere of joy, nostalgia, and deep reflection as friends, family members, and associates gathered to celebrate the 80th birthday of veteran journalist, columnist, and scholar, **Dr. Femi Orebe**.

The event, held in Lagos, drew a distinguished audience of political leaders, academics, and members of the media. By 11 a.m., guests were already trooping into the hall, set for what many described as a “monumental celebration” of a man whose pen and principles have shaped public thought for decades.

“At 80, you can only thank God. Let me tell you something — one of our elders, the late Architect Fola Alade, who was from Ekiti like me, wrote in his biography that to be 60, born where he was born, in Ekiti, where there was hardly a health centre or good water, you just know you owe God. That goes for me, and for anybody of my age coming from Ekiti.”

Dr. Orebe expressed appreciation for the progress made in Ekiti State.

“We thank God things are improving. We presently have a performing governor, and we thank God for his life. He will continue and, by God’s grace, do a second term. If you read my book presented today, you will see there are many articles on Ekiti. It is the way I feel about Ekiti that led me into column writing in The Nation newspaper.”

  • BAO: Beating best brand?

    BAO: Beating best brand?

    By John Ekundayo

“If people believe they share values with a company, they will stay loyal to the brand.” – Howard Schultz, former CEO, Starbucks

What is branding? What distinguishes a branded product or service? How can you and I depict and differentiate one brand of product or personality from another, in business or politics? These and some other questions are likely to pop up as someone reads and reflects on the topic of this essay. In a recent article published in the Nation newspaper, the author provided a precise premise to the subject of branding. He stated, inter alia: “In organizations, a brand is synonymous with the name, design, symbol, or any other feature that distinguishes a firm’s products or services from those of its competitors and creates a unique identity in the minds of customers … Walter Landor, renowned brand designer, opined that “products are made in a factory but brands are created in the mind.” This author concurs with this statement in toto! Presently, with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) in the saddle for 3 years, most followers in the political landscape of Ekiti can identify values of humility, compassion, generosity, and doing what he says he will do (integrity), with BAO; and summing all these up is that the are ready to vote him in again as their Governor for the 2nd term. This sits and situates pretty well with Howard Schultz, former CEO of Starbucks, who succinctly stated: “if people believe they share values with a company, they will stay loyal to the brand”.

    BAO: Building blocks

“A brand is a voice and a product is a souvenir.” –  Lisa Gansky

Ab initio, Oyebanji stepped out on the 16th of October 2022 with Ekitikete in mind. He did not take faulty and faltering steps of dealing with people based on their political leaning or party affiliation. BAO, as popularly called by adherents and admirers, places a high premium on people. He, in the prism, of human resource experts and scholars, view Ekitikete as the greatest resource in the leadership – followership dyad. In the colour, content and context of Ekiti, where he was involved in the creation of the state rubbing minds then with statesmen, traditional rulers and elders, he knows, first hand, the sociology of Ekiti people. In addition, having served in previous administrations of the erstwhile Governors – Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and Dr John Kayode Fayemi – he has apparently comprehended the nuances of governance more than any player in the political arena of Ekiti presently. Moreover, it will be inadequate, without expiscating Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s (BAO) leadership approach or style, to conclude that he is a novice or starter in the political emancipation of the Land of Honour – Ekiti. Aare Afe Babalola, one of the founding fathers of Ekiti, sometimes in 2024, while attesting to BAO’s giant strides in all sectors, was down to earth in succinctly stating: “It pains me that you didn’t become governor of Ekiti much earlier than now … However, this governor is doing a yeoman job.”

    BAO: Breeding and boosting inclusion

Saliently and succinctly stated, the humane and humble personality of BAO starting from inception of his administration till date is laudable and loud for all to bear witness. His exemplary laced with inclusive leadership style has warmed him into the hearts of most Ekitikete, especially those who will by now be in opposing or adversarial camps firing and fighting against his return to office. In this vein, the people with special needs have a voice in the government. Mr. Governor has paid uncommon attention to people living with disabilities in the state by appointing a specialist, Princess Adetoun Agboola, as the Special Adviser of Special Education and Social Inclusion in the Executive Council of Ekiti State, to nurture them. In addition, Mr. Governor, shunning publicity, during his birthday, always directs all his friends and family members to channel whatever gifts they intend offering him to his ‘friends’ – people living with disabilities. This is seemingly unique and uncommon in the corridor of power, especially in the context of Nigeria!

By and large, without gainsaying it, his style has garnered great gains for the ruling party – All Progressives Congress (APC) – in the state and national level, taking cognizance of the fact that the Ekiti Gubernatorial election coming up on the 20th June 2026 is the first off season election preceding the presidential election of 2027! In essence, the APC must get it right in dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. It is on the heels of this that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party should be lauded for acting swiftly in granting BAO a clean bill of health to contest the June 2026 election whilst disqualifying two other contenders, who failed to satisfy the minimum prerequisites to becoming the party’s candidate. As yours sincerely was stating while appearing on the TVC News Breakfast edition of Saturday, 11th October 2025, that any missteps to the contrary by the highest administrative organ of the party, the NWC, could result in litigation that may negatively affect and/or afflict the gubernatorial quest of the APC in Ekiti.

    BAO: Boasting best brand?

Remarkably, from the outset of his administration, he mouthed the shared prosperity mantra as the social contract he signed with Ekitikete. This is encapsulated in the 6 Strategic Actionable Pillars of his administration. In this vein, he directed the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), over which this essayist superintends to scrutinize work plans of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) before adoption into the budget. The work plans should be in sync with the 6 Strategic Pillars of his administration, namely: (1) Youth Development and Job Creation; (2) Agriculture and Rural Development; (3) Human Capital Development; (4) Infrastructure and Industrialization; (5) Arts, Culture and Tourism; and (6) Governance.

Presently, BAO’s administration is 3 years in office. Is the BAO brand speaking? There are at least nine roads awaiting commissioning in diverse locations of the State during this 3rd anniversary celebration, among which is the construction of the Ado Ekiti Ring Road (Phase 1). Moreover, there are 5 General Hospitals already renovated and retrofitted with state of the arts equipment and facilities. These are located in Ifaki, Ilawe, Ayede, Efon Alaaye and Okemesi – all spread across the 3 Senatorial Districts of Ekiti State. In addition, as we speak there are about 5,000 young farmers engaged in farming under the Bring Back the Youth into Agriculture programme of the incumbent administration. The BAO’s administration expended, and is still expending, huge and humongous resources on Agribusiness involving land clearing (up to 4,000 hectares), tractorization, subsidized farming inputs and extension services. The output was mass harvest of farm produce flooding the markets, whilst the outcome is that for the first time Ekiti is adjudged to have the lowest food price index in the south west of Nigeria. Oyebanji is bringing back the hey days of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, to Ekiti State. There are 3 Renewed Hope Dormitories earmarked for commissioning for young farmers located in Eporo, Iyemero and Ikere. This author as the head of the Project Subcommittee of the 3rd Anniversary led other critical stakeholders round these projects and others due for commissioning. These dormitories are designed and equipped with common rooms possessing cable television and other ancillary facilities to attract and retain the young minds on the farms. Kudos to the Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, and his team for working in tandem with the agreed work plan with OTSD.

On top of these laudable feats, God has been gracious to give Ekiti unprecedented peace in Ekiti. This is not without the yeoman’s traversing and conversing with relevant organs of government and critical stakeholders in Abuja handling the security architecture of the country. It is no fluke that with less than 9 months to the next gubernatorial election, the Land of Honour is embracing and enjoying all round peace and progress. BAO’s leadership style is really boosting uncommon confidence among Ekitikete and making BAO’s brand unbeatable in the political landscape of Ekiti. This is the first time that peace is boosting progress in the trajectory towards prosperity!

    BAO: Bracing Best Brand!

“If you don’t give the market the story to talk about, they’ll define your brand’s story for you.” – David Brier, author and brand identity expert.

In construction engineering, bracing is the utilization of structural elements, which may be permanent or temporal in nature, to stabilize a building or structure with the aim of resisting lateral forces from wind, seismic activity or some other external loads. In essence, when engineers make use of bracing it is to prevent the building from buckling, cracking, deflecting or collapsing, as the case may be.

It is a truism that many of the achievements of the BAO’s administration have been adjudged as mostly under-reported to the chagrin of some of us who are critical and core stakeholders in the Ekiti project. Any wonder, David Brier, celebrated author and brand identity expert, opinionated thus: “If you don’t give the market the story to talk about, they’ll define your brand’s story for you.” It is high time Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) invested more in robustly publicizing or disseminating the good works of his administration in order to forestall any denigrator to diminish and denounce his good works. He needs not be told to blow his trumpet in this day and age of internet technology taking cognizance of the fact that ‘internet does not forget.’ The indecorous mien of some unscrupulous business people and politicians is even the raison d’etre for protection and preservation of one’s brand, be it in the marketplace or in the political arena. This is in sync with the assertion of Warren Buffet, American investor and philanthropist who stated inter alia: “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.” Going forward, and as we approach the gubernatorial election of 20th June 2026, it is high time, BAO, in depicting his brand as the best among the seeming motley of contenders, attempted in altering the status quo ante by propagating more media presence befitting his transformational strides in Ekiti – the Land of Honour!

    • Governor opens two township roads in Ado-Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has called on residents to take ownership of road infrastructure within their communities, noting that protecting and maintaining the roads are key to ensuring their longevity.

He spoke yesterday in Ado-Ekiti while inaugurating the newly completed Bovas-Spotless Road and Palace-Okeage-Idolofin Road, as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.

Governor Oyebanji, represented by his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, said his administration remained committed to delivering infrastructure across the state to improve living standard of the people.

He said the sustainability of the projects depended on the collective responsibility of the citizens.

The governor urged the people not to engage in acts capable of damaging the roads such as indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drainage, unauthorised excavation along road shoulders, among others.

He said: “Let me urge all road users and residents to maintain and work together to preserve this road. It is an investment in our collective future and we all have a role to play in maintaining it.’’

Affirming that his administration placed high premium on good road network, Governor Oyebanji said roads were not just pathway for vehicles, but were also lifeline that connected communities, promoted trade, improved security and contributed to the overall quality of the people.

He added that the Palace-Oke-Age-Idolofin and Bovas-Spotless township roads would ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time and open new vista of economic opportunities for the residents and business in the area.

“Let me assure you again that we will not rest on our oars in bringing the dividends of democracy to all the citizens of Ekiti State. I also seek your cooperation, bearing it in mind that the development of our state is our collective responsibility,” the governor said.

Works Commissioner Mr Sola Adebayo said the project represented a milestone in the government’s efforts to enhance the accessibility and aesthetics of Ekiti State, adding that the event stood as another testament to the commitment of Governor Oyebanji to the progress and infrastructural transformation of the state capital.

He said the road projects embarked on by the administration were in deplorable state for years before the government embarked on their rehabilitation or reconstruction.

He added that the kind of road network Governor Oyebanji envisaged for the state capital was one capable of easing traffic flow, enhancing accessibility and improving the general quality of life for residents and communities.

Expressing appreciation to Governor Oyebanji on his giant strides in repositioning road infrastructure in the state, the commissioner said the completion of the roads underscored his dedication to improving road connectivity and promoting economic activities within the communities.

He urged the residents to take ownership of the road as well as ensure its proper maintenance by desisting from acts that would shorten its lifespan, such as dumping refuse in the drainage or constructing unauthorised speed bumps, as the sustainability and durability of the roads remained the collective responsibility of all and sundry.

Also at the event were Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Habitat Adubiaro, Head of Service Folakemi Olomojobi, Chief of Staff Niyi Adebayo, members of the House of Assembly, members of the state executive council, among others.
