    Oba Ladoja’s reign will make Ibadan greater – Ex-Oyo APC chair assures

    Former Oyo state APC chairman, Chief Akin Oke, has expressed confidence that the reign of the incoming Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, will usher in unprecedented economic growth, development, and stability for the ancient city.

    He attributed this optimism to the former governor’s uncommon grace and distinguished personal qualities.

    The week-long coronation activities will conclude on Friday with traditional rites by the kingmakers and Governor Seyi Makinde’s official presentation of the Staff of Office.

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to be the special guest of honour alongside dignitaries from various sectors.

    In a statement on Monday, Oke lauded Ladoja as a strong-willed, energetic, and passionate statesman who had diligently prepared himself for the revered throne.

    “There is no doubting the fact that Oba Ladoja carries a lot of uncommon grace, having weathered the storm from childhood to attract greatness to himself.

    “As a successful businessman, accomplished politician, and leader par excellence, he is well equipped to add great value to the city of Ibadan, Oyo state, and Yorubaland as a first-class monarch and a custodian of the great heritage of bravery and class.

    “As all is now set for the formal ascension of the throne by the new Olubadan, it is desired that he uses his wealth of experience, goodwill, and connections to facilitate enduring peace, cooperation, and solidarity among traditional rulers in Yorubaland as well as in the entire country.

    “It is our sincere wishes and prayers that Oba Ladoja enjoys longevity, sound health, and increased favour from God to deliver the promise,” Oke concluded.

    2027: Nigerians in Australia endorse Oyo APC aspirant Kareem

    Ahead of 2027 elections, Nigerians in Australia have declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for Oyo State, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem.

    The endorsement took place at a well-attended town hall meeting, book launch, and fundraising event in Melbourne, Victoria.

    The event marked the first step in Kareem’s global consultation tour. It attracted Yoruba, Igbo, Arewa, and other community leaders who endorsed his ambition.

    Kareem expressed appreciation, describing the moment as a demonstration of unity and hope.

    “The support I have received here in Melbourne transcends ethnic lines. It reflects a collective aspiration for a stronger Oyo State built on transparency, inclusiveness, and progress,” he said.

    The event combined interactive dialogue with the launch of Kareem’s book on good governance titled, OUR REALISTIC TOMORROW  and his manifesto for Oyo State.

    Many guests contributed financially, pledging to back his grassroots mobilisation and community-focused initiatives.

     According to Kareem, all donations will be managed with “utmost transparency and efficiency” to ensure maximum impact at the grassroots.

    Several prominent Nigerians played key roles in the success of the Melbourne gathering. Ambassador Adeniyi Ekine, who initiated the event, and Dr. Adebukola Ojediran of Elizabeth Seeds were recognised for their support, while Elder Matthew Adetifa mobilised Yoruba elders in Victoria. 

    Other guests included Dr. Moses Adepoju, past President of the Ibadan Progressive Association of Australia, who chaired the occasion; Dr. Adebukola Juliana Ojediran, who served as hairperson; Mr. Elvis Nwachukwu, President of the Igbo Association of Victoria; and Hajia Fatimah Mahmoud, President of the Arewa Association of Australia & New Zealand.

    Kareem noted that the diverse representation of Nigerian groups at the event was a strong symbol of unity. “From Yoruba to Igbo to Arewa, every community has shown faith in this vision. This is the Nigeria we must build together” he declared.

    The APC aspirant announced that his consultation tour will continue with a town hall in New South Wales on October 25, 2025, before moving to the United Kingdom and other European cities. He called on Nigerians at home and abroad to join what he described as a growing “coalition of hope” for Oyo State.

    2027: Oyo APC aspirant Kareem floats N5m loan scheme for artisans, traders

    Ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, has floated a ₦5 million non-interest loan scheme for traders, artisans, and small business owners in the state.

    The financial scheme, which will benefit members and supporters of his AKK political structure, was designed to strengthen grassroots enterprises and encourage political participation.

    In a statement issued on Thursday, Kareem said the loan would be available to applicants who meet three conditions: possession of a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) or proof of registration, attendance at least two AKK meetings, and participation in one APC ward meeting.

    He explained that the criteria were deliberately introduced to link economic empowerment with democratic responsibility.

    “The PVC is the strongest tool citizens have to shape governance, and it is central to building a participatory democracy,” Kareem said.

    2027: Guber aspirant Oladele rallies for Oyo APC unity, hails Oseni

    Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Oloye Saheed Oladele, has hailed Hon. Remi Oseni, member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for distancing himself from the controversial group, Igba Otun.

    The commendation, released by the Saheed Oladele Support Foundation (SOSF) Media Office, came after Hon. Oseni publicly denounced the group’s claims.

    The group had earlier urged Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, to suspend their governorship ambitions in favour of Pastor Remi Oseni, describing him as the “ideal alternative.” Over 72 hours later, Hon. Oseni dismissed the statement, labeling it “false, malicious and mischievous.”

    Oladele expressed admiration for Oseni’s courage to dissociate himself from such divisive politics, noting that his stance reaffirms his commitment to unity within Oyo APC.

    However, the SOSF Media Office advised Oseni to respond more swiftly to damaging reports in the future, stressing that his delayed reaction could have cast doubts on his position. 

    The office pointed out that Oseni only issued his rebuttal after the foundation had already publicly rejected the claims.

    Olaoluwa hails Oyo APC chairman for restoring confidence in party

    The President, Peter Olaoluwa Foundation (POF), Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi, has commended Oyo All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman Alhaji Laide Abass for restoring confidence among its members.

    A statement by Olaoluwa said APC in the state has worn a new look entirely since Abass came on board.

    Olaoluwa, a governorship aspirant, described Abass recent efforts to grow the party as a confidence booster to the party.

    He commended the APC chairman  visionary leadership as a key ingredient needed to re-invigorate the party as 2027 approaches.

    He added that continuous interaction and engagement of the chairman with important stakeholders in the state was a morale booster.

    • Ganduje unveils blueprint to win Southwest

    Ahead of 2027 general election, a retired military officer, Col. Emmanuel Adegbola and his supporters from Oke Ogun area of Oyo State have joined All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

    They were formally received by the Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

    Elated by the new entrants, the APC national chairman unveiled the party’s blueprint for the Southwest in the 2027 general election. He called the winning formula “political homogeneity”.

    Adegbola, who recently retired from service, earlier joined the APC in his ward in Saki, Oyo State and was formally presented to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party by Oyo State Secretary, Olanite Tajudeen.

    Welcoming the former military officer, Ganduje said the party was set for a takeover of Southwest in 2027.

    Oyo APC lauds FG’s intervention in restoring power to UCH

    The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised the federal government through the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, for facilitating the restoration of electricity supply to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

    The party described the swift intervention as a testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

    The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) had disconnected UCH over unpaid debts, leaving the hospital without power for nearly three months. 

    However, Adelabu led a delegation from Abuja to meet with relevant stakeholders in Ibadan on Monday, resulting in the immediate restoration of electricity.

    In a statement, Oyo APC Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare criticized the state government under Governor Seyi Makinde for ignoring the plight of UCH, despite its proximity to the governor’s office. 

    He noted that the prolonged blackout negatively affected hospital staff, students, and patients who rely on the facility’s services.

    “It is a thing of joy that the Minister visited Ibadan yesterday with a magic wand and all issues between the managements of the UCH and IBEDC were amicably resolved as reports have it that power supply has been restored now. 

    “We hereby express our profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu who gave the Minister his kind permission to intervene and save the situation for the sake of the citizenry as well as the image of the country in view of the fact that the UCH is a globally recognized teaching hospital.

     “Interestingly, the rescue mission which brought the Minister of Power and his team to Ibadan yesterday was not all about brokering peace between the managements of the UCH and the electricity distribution company, While addressing the press after the meeting.

    “Chief Adelabu disclosed that UCH would also be added to the list of teaching hospitals and ivory towers that had similar issue but which were able to surmount it through the Federal government intervention of Solar mini grid.

    “He assured that a 50 megawatts solar mini grid will be installed by the federal government to serve the University of Ibadan, the University College Hospital and the College of Medicine  and the project will be completed within the first and second quarter of the year.

    “With this development, the age-long erratic power supply crisis which the three institutions have had to battle would become a thing of the past and the hope of betterment would be renewed. 

    “Be that as it may, we are very much aware of the various efforts of the ministry of power under Chief Adelabu to guarantee steady electricity supply to the nooks and crannies of the country and we urge patience and cooperation from the citizens to facilitate the quick realization of the goal by the Tinubu administration.”

    Ibadan North bye-election: Oyo APC assures aspirants of fairness

    All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state has assured aspirant vying for Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming by-election of fairness.

    The party said constitutional and democratic option would be employed to pick the party candidate among the crowd of aspirants who have indicated their individual interest to secure the APC ticket.

    Speaking in Ibadan at a stakeholder meeting held at the Oke-Ado Secretariat of Oyo APC, the chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Olaide Abass said the meeting was organized to kickstart the process of reclaiming the seat which became vacant following the death of Hon. Olaide Akinremi who was on his second term in office under the platform of the Progressive party. 

    He said: “It took us several weeks to come to term with the reality of the demise of our man, Prince Akinremi, who was one of the best performing federal lawmaker in the country and because nature abhors vacuum, it is imperative we find a replacement in as much as it is an established fact that only the APC can present the likes of the deceased occupant of the seat.

    “We are aware of the fact about 20 members of the APC in Ibadan North Federal Constituency have indicated their interest to emerge as the candidate of our party in the anticipated bye-election and I am particularly delighted each of the interested aspirants is more qualified to represent the all-important constituency in the Green Chamber. However, the high number of aspirants is raising some dust but I can assure that we will be fair to all concerned.

    “Ibadan North Federal Constituency cannot afford to have a representative whose voice would not be heard on account of party inferiority and this is another justification for a candidate of the APC to return to that seat. 

    “All hands are already on deck as stakeholders from within and outside the state have indicated their readiness to rally round the candidate of our party. We can only appeal to party leaders, aspirants and other concerned individuals and groups in the federal constituency to cooperate with us as we are poised to midwife a free and fair process in picking the party candidate very soon.”

    Speaking on behalf of the party aspirants who attended the meeting, Hon. Musibau Ayinla lauded the leadership of the Oyo APC for their show of pragmatism and assurance of fairness to the aspirants. 

    He said, “We are indeed gladdened by what we have seen so far from the Alh. Olayide Abas-led leadership of our great Party. We (the aspirants) what is at stake and we would not disappoint party members as well as the good people of Ibadan North. We shall all submit to the decision to conduct a hitch-free primary even as we all pledge to support whoever that gets the ticket from amongst us.”

    Aspirants who attended the meeting were; Olusegun Olaleye (Radical Brother), Wale Olatunji (Murphy), Adekunle Oladeji, Umar Arisekola Alao, AbdulRasaq AbdulGaniyy, Khalil Mustapha, Kamil Omotosho, Taofeek Aderogba and Idris Babatunde Lapade.

    Also, some State party leaders present at the meeting included; Alh. Tajudeen Olanite, Hon. Mojeed Olaoya, Hon. Kehinde Subair, Alhaja Tinuade Adigun, Hon. Olawale Sadare, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, Hon. Prince John Aremu, Hon. Akeem Olatunji and Hon. Sayo Fatoki.

    A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, who also doubles as Mogaji Ojo Eweena, Oke Offa, Baba Sale, Engr. Popoola Olukayode Joseph a.k.a POJ has expressed readiness with his supporters to team up with leaders, stakeholders, and entire members of the party to change fortune of the party for greatness.

    Speaking during his courtesy visit to APC chairman in Oyo State, Alhaji Olaide Abass at the party office in Ibadan, Popoola commended APC led federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfastness to reposition and redirect the nation to the path of prosperity, calling on Nigerians to join hands with the President.

    He described Oyo APC chairman as a well respected progressive leader who God has chosen at this time to repositioned the party for good.

    POJ, being a grassroot politician, had joined the party from his ward, ward 10, Ibadan North East local government and since been attending the meeting. His membership of APC has been greeted with enthusiasm and joy among leaders in the ward and local government.

    Abass stated that Popoola as an engineer who rose to the peak of his career as a director, was never at any time found wanting in the discharge of his duty.

     He said POJ served the nation with commitment and integrity, which is what the party in Oyo state is standing for  and aimed to achieve when returned to governance in the state.

    According to him, people like Popoola are what the party in Oyo state need now especially at this time when the party is being revuilt and reconciliation ongoing among members.

    He charged him to join hands with leadership of the party in its quest to grow the party and shun every form of individuality and promote collectiveness.

    Popoola was accompanied to the party secretariat by Adegbola Adesesan, former Chairman of Oyo State NNPP, Adewuyi, former chairman Lagelu Local Government, and Dr. Olufemi among others.
