    Oyo SUBEB releases first batch of newly recruited teachers, caregivers

    Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has released the names of 5,600 newly recruited primary school teachers and 80 caregivers.

    Chairman, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, who made this known in Ibadan, said the list was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde.

    He added that the newly engaged teachers and caregivers were the first batch to be employed from successful applicants in the recruitment exercise carried out by OYO SUBEB recently.

    Adeniran advised applicants to check the list by logging to the job portal via: https://www.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng, assuring people that the list would be uploaded on the portal and ready for candidates to check from Saturday.

    The Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) has praised the successful implementation of the computer-based tests for job seekers carried out by the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB).

    The chairman of AOPSHON, Adekunle Adedeji, expressed confidence in the examination’s conduct, noting that there were no reported incidents.

    He commended the board during his visit to monitor the examination at the Distance Learning Centre, Ajibode, Ibadan.

    “We checked the CBT examinations and the exams went on very smoothly. We are happy with the credibility of the exams and we didn’t have any incident in the exams,” Adedeji said.

    He also appreciated the state government for the ongoing workshop for retiring headteachers, noting that this will assist most of them to prepare for life after retirement.

    Speaking on the examinations, the chairman of OYOSUBEB, Nureni Adeniran, said about 50, 097 candidates sat for the examination.

    Adeniran who said the examination took place in one centre, commended the candidates’ comportment in the exercise.

    “The CBT exam was very successful and candidates have started seeing their results. There was calmness and the students were well comported during the whole exercise.”

    The CBT examination for prospective teachers began on July 22 and ended on July 26, 2024.

    Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (Oyo SUBEB) has fixed July 22- 26 for the computer-based test (CBT), for applicants for primary school teachers recruitment from the just-ended application held in the state.

    The Chairman, Oyo SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, gave the confirmation yesterday.

    He said 50, 097 applicants scaled the application exercise to take part in the computer-based tests for the available positions.

    He added that specific date and time for individual applicants is already being communicated to them via their email and/or phone numbers.

    Adeniran advised applicants to check their mails and phones regularly, for confirmation.

    He said the venue for the exam is University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre, Computer Based Testing Centre, Ajibode, Ibadan.

    Adeniran instructed applicants to print copies of their CBT examination schedule and their application print-out, bearing their passports, from the job portal.

    He said the two print-outs would admit applicants into the CBT examination hall, noting that applicants must adhere to the time and date sent to them by the board, as loitering around the centre will not be condoned.

    52,433 candidates apply for 7,000 Oyo SUBEB teaching jobs

    No fewer than 52,423 candidates have applied for positions in the public primary school teaching offers by the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (Oyo SUBEB).

    The Nation reports that the board on May 17, 2024 announced plans to recruit 7,000 teachers for public primary schools and 100 caregivers for special schools across the State.

    The job application portal opened on June 25, 2024 and ran till July 9, 2024.

    On Friday, the government said it has shut down the job application portal for applicants.

    The Executive Chairman, Oyo SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, said the job application portal was closed after the lapse of the deadline, describing the large turnout of applications as impressive. 

    “We are impressed by this response, which shows that people are truly keen and excited to work with the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board. However, we are compelled to close the portal, as the deadline has passed.

    “We received not less than 52,423 submitted applications within the number of days of opening the portal. That was impressive.

    “After shutting the portal, our team has started sorting out the applications and picked the suitably qualified candidates, who will be contacted by the Board,” he said.

    The Chairman said the basic education sub-sector is dear to Governor Seyi Makinde, adding that other aspects of the employment process.

    He advised applicants to be wary of fake news on the ongoing recruitment process, advising them to regularly check their e-mails and phones for more information on the next steps.

    Adeniran explained: “After the applications are sorted, the next stage will be the CBT examination. The date, venue and time scheduled for each candidate will be sent to them through their email and phone numbers.”
