Don’t date when you’re jobless, Pastor Bolaji Idowu advises singles

Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC) has cautioned against dating while jobless, believing that financial instability can limit one’s options and distort what they find attractive in a partner.

Speaking to his congregation, he said relationships formed during times of financial struggle may be driven by necessity rather than genuine love.

According to him, when individuals eventually gain financial stability, they may realise that the relationship wasn’t truly fulfilling.

Idowu attributed this to a “crumbs mentality,” where people settle for less than they deserve due to financial limitations.

He encouraged individuals to shift their thinking towards abundance, prioritising personal growth and financial stability before entering into relationships.

He said: “Don’t date when you are jobless. There are some relationships that are attractive not because they are attractive, it’s because you have no money.

“When you have your own money, you will be surprised how you should have not fallen in love with some people. It’s not love induced; it was hunger induced.

“Never negotiate on an hungry stomach, youl will get a bad deal. Crumbs mentality – when you are poor, small things satisfy you easily. One of the signs of crumbs mentality is that you settle for less so easily.

“Shift in your thinking. I’m saying you need to think in abundance. I hang around people and when I hear the things that they used to talk about – ‘if I can just travel to America’. How can traveling to America be a goal.”

Pastor Bolaji Idowu denies real estate fraud allegations

Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC), has debunked allegations linking him to fraudulent real estate activities and money laundering.

He described the claims as unfounded and misleading.

An online media outlet (Not The Nation) had on Tuesday reported that Idowu had been detained in Abuja by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department over his purported involvement in real estate fraud.

However, addressing the matter during his popular Next Level Prayer programme on Wednesday morning, Pastor Idowu categorically denied the allegations, emphasizing his lack of involvement in the real estate business.

“Over the last 24 hours, there has been a lot of news about me on social media. I just want to state some facts,” he said.

“I heard that I was involved in real estate. Firstly, I do not have any property in Nigeria. The only property I have in Nigeria is one everyone knows. Secondly, I do not sell or buy properties. I am not in that business.”

The pastor further addressed claims concerning financial misconduct, inviting scrutiny into his financial dealings. “My accounts are public accounts. Go and check if I ever received billions into my accounts,” he stated.

“Someone said I received billions into my account. My accounts are public; you can check if I have ever received billions in them. It is just a lot of things going on in the press, but this is not the forum to address that,” he stated.

The pastor expressed shock at the allegations, admitting that he learned about them through the media, just like the public.

“Some of these things, as you are reading them, I am also reading them,” he said.
