Cleric leads prayer at unveiling of Cubana Millennium City in Asaba

Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International on Tuesday led a New Year prayer session at the site of Cubana Millennium City, a real estate development in Asaba, Delta State.

The prayer session, which took place at the hilltop project location, marked the formal unveiling of the development for the 2026 business year.

Stakeholders and invited guests were present as prayers were offered for safety, peace and the success of the project.

Cubana Millennium City is being promoted by the Chairman of the Cubana Group, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana.

The project is located on the Benin–Asaba–Onitsha Expressway, near the Asaba International Airport.

Speaking at the event, Iyiegbu said the decision to begin the year with prayers reflected the promoters’ belief in committing major ventures to God at inception.

He said the development was expected to contribute to urban growth in Asaba and create employment opportunities, while providing residential and commercial spaces.

Pastor Eze prayed for peace and stability around the project and those who would eventually live and work within the area, describing the year as significant for its take-off.

Cubana Millennium City is one of several private real estate developments emerging in the Asaba axis, as investors respond to growing demand for housing and commercial infrastructure in Delta State.

How NSPPD got its name, by Pastor Jerry Eze

Pastor Jerry Eze has shared the humble beginnings of his popular program, NSPPD, in an interview with Chude Jideonwo.

He revealed that the program wasn’t always known by its current name, but rather evolved.

Eze expressed surprise that people could gain fame through prayer.

The cleric also offered a glimpse into his personality, describing himself as calm and soft-spoken in everyday life.

He contrasted this with his on-screen persona, which is often characterised by energetic and passionate prayer sessions.

Eze admitted that he sometimes finds it challenging to watch himself on TV, feeling a need to temper his enthusiasm.

According to him, he is driven by a deep desire to see people set free from their struggles through the power of prayer.

This passion, he said, is what propels him to continue ministering to his audience through NSPPD.

He said, “It was not called NSPPD from the start. It was after a while that we said, ‘This thing we are doing, what’s the name. We didn’t have a name for it. I didn’t know that people could be famous by praying.

“Let me be honest, you see this thing I do, anybody who knows me knows that, that is not me. Coming every morning, ‘Fire! Fire!’, it’s not me. I am very calm… if you see me outside of NSPPD, I seldom talk. People often try to reconcile the guy they see on the internet and me that is sitting here.

“For too long, I couldn’t watch myself after doing NSPPD. When I watch, I will tell myself, ‘take it easy, take it easy. But every time I go, something will be pushing me. I love to see people free.”

Upon arrival, the plane crash-landed but despite the plane’s tires bursting, everyone on board escaped unharmed.

Pastor Jerry attributed their survival to divine intervention, expressing gratitude for God’s protection.

He said: “Saturday morning after the NSPPD prayer conference in Lagos we got on a flight and as soon as we got on the flight coming back, before we even took off the air hostess I just requested to see the pilot.

“The air hostess walked up to me and he said papa you are not comfortable, I said my spirit is not accepting the pilot. Everything went haywire. Then suddenly, we heard a loud Gboahhh! They it’s hard landing, they said it’s crash landing, they said whatever it it is.

“But when we came out of the plane, all the tires of the plane had bursted. But everyone of us came out, nothing missing, nothing broken!”.
