    First Lady pays condolence visit to Akwa Ibom Gov over wife’s death

    First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has described the late wife of Akwa Ibom Governor, Patience Umo Eno, as a peaceful and God-fearing woman who truly loved her people.

    She was speaking at the Governor’s Lodge, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where she  condoled with Eno on the passing of his wife.

    In an emotional reflection on her relationship with the deceased, the First Lady said she was honoured to have met her, noting that she served her people and finished her course well.

    In a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, on Friday, Mrs Tinubu said: “Politics aside, we are all Nigerians and one of the things I thank God for is when we meet people, we should show love and care. 

    “I want to thank God that despite her short time in life she finished her course. God will comfort you the husband, comfort you the children. I will always be here for you.”

    A condolence register opened in honour of the deceased was signed by the First Lady after which special prayers were held for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort for the family during their grieving moment.

    Appreciating the First Lady for being a true mother to all, the Governor noted that party affiliation does not cross her mind when dealing with people

    He described his late wife as his greatest partner noting that he would mourn her for the rest of his life.

    He however promised to sustain the activities of the First Lady’s office in the state.

    The First Lady was joined on the visit by wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, wives of the leadership of the National Assembly and Governors wives.

    Fubara commiserates with Akwa Ibom governor over wife’s death

    The Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commiserated with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, following the demise of his wife, Mrs. Patience.

    Fubara in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Nelson Chukwudi, expressed shock over the sad development.

    He said: “We received with sadness the news of the death of your lovely wife, Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno, who transitioned to glory on 26th September 2024.

    “Although death is a certain end for every mortal, it is always painful to experience the loss of someone so dear to you, particularly one with whom you have had a special bond for many years.

    “This is why we truly understand how devastating this must be for you, knowing how close you were to your wife and the positive influence she has had on you as a strong dependable pillar of support and inspiration.

    “On behalf of the government and good people of Rivers State, I pray God Almighty to grant you and the entire Eno family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Please, accept our sincere condolences.”

    The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has described the death of Akwa-Ibom State first lady, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno as painful. 

    A statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said: “The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, PhD., NPM, extends his heartfelt condolences to His Excellency, Governor Umo Bassey Eno, on the passing of his beloved wife, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, the First Lady of Akwa-Ibom State, who sadly departed on September 26, 2024.

    “Her gracious legacy, compassion, and dedication have left an indelible mark on the lives of many in Nigeria, especially in Akwa-Ibom State. This profound loss is deeply felt by her family, the entire Nigerian state particularly the people of Akwa-Ibom state. 

    “In this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Governor Umo and his family. May Almighty God grant them solace and strength to bear this irreparable loss.

    “IGP Egbetokun deeply sympathizes with Governor Umo and prays for the peaceful repose of Mrs. Eno’s soul. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her, and may her soul rest in perfect peace”.

    BREAKING: Akwa Ibom Gov loses wife

    Patience Umo Eno, wife of Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, is dead.

    Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, announced the First Lady’s death in a statement titled “Unexpected Sunset” in the early hours of Friday.

    According to the commissioner, she died at a hospital on Thursday in the presence of family members after a brief illness.

    He said: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, following an illness.

    “She passed away peacefully at the hospital on 26th September 2024, in the presence of her family.

    “The family submits to the will of the Almighty and asks for the prayers and support of kind-hearted individuals during this difficult time.

    “Further details will be provided by the family as necessary. In the meantime, the family kindly requests privacy as they mourn their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

    “His Excellency, the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno appreciates all who have stood by the first family in this period and assures all the citizens that despite this huge personal loss, his commitment to the service of the state is unwavering.”
