    Onuachu to miss Trabzonspor’s tie against  Besiktas

    Trabzonspor will be without star striker Paul Onuachu for this weekend’s crucial Turkish Super Lig clash against Besiktas,

    The Nigerian international, who returned to the former champions last summer from English Premier League side Southampton, has been one of Trabzonspor’s standout performers this season.

    The lanky forward has found the back of the net 11 times across competitions, making him one of the club’s key attacking threats.

    Onuachu will miss the high-profile encounter due to suspension after receiving a yellow card in his side’s last league outing.

    The booking, picked up while he was deployed in an unfamiliar position, automatically rules him out of the match against Besiktas.

    His absence is expected to be a major blow for Trabzonspor as they look to secure a positive result in the highly anticipated fixture.

    Trabzonspor forward Paul Onuachu has been named the Turkish Super Lig Player of the Month for October.

    The towering Nigerian striker, according to BSNSports.com.ng,  outshone eight other nominees including Rafa Silva, Andre Onana, Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Orkun Kokcu, Ederson Moraes, Wilfred Singo, and Davinson Sanchez to claim the prestigious award.

    Onuachu netted two goals and provided one assist in three league appearances during the month, helping Trabzonspor remain unbeaten with two wins and a draw.

    The 31-year-old has been in outstanding form this season, already winning the Goal of the Month award twice. He has so far scored seven goals and registered one assist in 11 league matches for the Black Sea Storm.

    Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu and Burnley midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu were both on target for their respective clubs on Saturday evening, helping their sides to crucial league victories.

    Onuachu continued his impressive run of form for Turkish side Trabzonspor, scoring the second goal in their 2-1 win over Rizespor.

    The 31-year-old powered home a header from a Chris Oulai free-kick in the 19th minute, after Felipe Da Silva had opened the scoring for the visitors.

    The goal takes Onuachu’s tally to six goals and one assist in eight league appearances this season.

    With the victory, Trabzonspor increased the pressure on Galatasaray, climbing to second place with 20 points from nine matches.

    Meanwhile, Ugochukwu, nephew of former Super Eagles defender Onyekachi Apam, netted in back-to-back Premier League games as Burnley defeated Leeds United 2-0.

    The former Chelsea midfielder nodded in a fine cross from Kyle Walker to give the Clarets an early lead and capped a solid display in midfield.

    Having impressed during his loan spell at Southampton last season, the 21-year-old will hope to continue his run in subsequent games

    The victory lifts Burnley out of the relegation zone, taking them to seven points from eight matches.

    Super Eagles attacker, Paul Onuachu has described his stunning bicycle-kick strike in Trabzonspor’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Fatih Karagümrük last weekend as one of the goals of the season.

    The Nigeria international was the star of the seven-goal spectacle at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, netting twice — first with a spectacular overhead kick and later from the penalty spot.

    Speaking after the game, Onuachu expressed delight at both the win and his personal contribution.

    “First of all, I’d like to congratulate my teammates on the three points. I’m happy the team won, and even happier that I scored,” he told Fanatik.

    Reflecting on his wonder goal, the towering forward said it brought back memories of a previous strike.

    “I watched the goal again, and it reminded me of the one I scored against Konyaspor. Between the two, I’d say the Konyaspor goal was better. This one was purely instinctive — I had to decide quickly, and luckily it turned into a good shot and a good goal.”

    Onuachu’s brace takes his tally to five goals in seven league appearances for Trabzonspor this season who are third with 14 points from seven games.

    Trabzonspor hosts Kayserispor in their next Super Lig tie on Friday.

    The striker was the match winner in his team’s opening match against Kocaelispor.

    However, he was advised to take it easy in training due to a mild strain of the right knee ligaments after he was replaced in the season opener.

    Paul Onuachu is back where the goals flowed after the Nigerian striker completed a 5.6 million euros ($6.60 million) move to Trabzonspor from Southampton on Friday, turning a successful loan spell into a permanent stay on Turkey’s Black Sea coast.

    Nicknamed “Tall Paul” by Saints fans, the 2.01-metre forward never found his stride in the Premier League, scoring just four goals as Southampton dropped out of the top flight.

    But in Turkey, he looked like his old self — hitting 15 goals in 21 league games while on loan last season and quickly winning over the fans and board alike.

    Once prolific at Genk, with 73 goals in 103 league games, 31-year-old Onuachu’s return to Trabzonspor feels more like a reset than a gamble.

    The new Super Lig season kicks off on August 8, with champions Galatasaray defending their crown. Trabzonspor, who finished seventh last term, will hope their returning striker picks up right where he left off.

    Paul Onuachu has agreed a three-year contract with Turkish giants Trabzonspor, while negotiations with Southampton on a transfer fee have reached an advance stage.

    Trabzonspor President Ertugal Dogan confirmed the transfer talks.

    “Paul Onuachu is on our transfer agenda. We continue to negotiate and hopefully we will reach an agreement soon,” he said.

    Trabzonspor hope they can agree a transfer fee of around Five Million Euros for the 31-year-old striker, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the club two seasons ago.

    Southampton splashed 18 Million Euros to sign the striker from Belgian club Genk.

    Southampton manager Ivan Juric has asserted that his Super Eagles import, Paul Onuachu,  remains unstoppable when he is truly in his element.

    Onuachu impressed again for the Saints following his goal and his overall performance against Crystal Palace and Juric when asked to assessed the performance of the former Trabzonspor striker said he only has positive words to say of him.

    The towering forward scored his fourth goal of the season that could have been enough for a home win but Southampton capitulated allowing Crystal Palace to sneak a late equaliser for a share of the spoils.

     “Onuachu was really good. When he is full of energy, he can be exceptional. He did great work,” Juric said of the Super Eagles hitman.

    Onuachu’s strong performances have kept him on the radar of several top European clubs and may not go on relegation with Southampton whose route to the drop zone has already been sealed.

    Super Eagles striker  Paul Onuachu is unhappy at Southampton’s latest defeat in the EPL despite scoring his first home goal at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.

    Onuachu, who came on as a substitute, found the back of the net for the Saints  but his joy was overshadowed by the disappointing 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

    The Nigerian described Southampton’s performance as not good enough and has called on his teammates to improve for the club to end the season commendably.

     “It’s tough scoring my first goal in front of the home fans and still losing. It’s not good enough—we need to improve as a team and individually,” he told the club’s official website. “We started well in the first 20 minutes, and it’s hard to explain this loss because we felt confident playing at home and believed we could beat Wolves.

    “You could see we were the better team, even though we lost. It’s just not good enough.”

     “For the fans and the team, scoring is great, but losing makes it difficult to enjoy. We needed to win this game, and it’s very disappointing.”

    Onuachu has scored three league goals for the Saints on his second stint with the club after his inability to score even a goal on his EPL debut season two years ago before he was farmed to Turkey where he rediscovered his scoring boots with Trabzonspor last season.
