    Why I can’t marry Paulo – Iyabo Ojo reveals

    Actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has clarified that her relationship with music executive Paul Okoye, aka Paulo, is not headed for marriage.

    In a recent appearance on TVC’s Your View, she explained that they are comfortable with their current arrangement and have no plans to get married.

    Iyabo shared that she and Paulo are both workaholics and value their independence.

    She mentioned that whenever she feels the need to be alone, she packs her bags and returns to her own house, and Paulo understands and respects her decision.

    The actress emphasised that their relationship is built on mutual understanding and respect and that they have no intention of taking it to the next level.

    She said, “Because of the way I work, I am such a workaholic, and he is also a workaholic. That Igbo man likes to work. For me, there are times when I want to be alone, and I just pack my bags and return to my house. We never fight over that because he understands. We don’t want marriage”.

    Iyabo first publicly acknowledged her relationship with Paulo on her 45th birthday in December 2022, sharing a heartfelt video collage of their time on Instagram.

    Vanessa Okoye, daughter of music executive Paulo Okoye, has clapped back at singer Spyro following his recent interview.

    Spyro made headlines with claims of struggling financially while signed to Paulo Okoye’s record label, alleging that Okoye was ineffective in managing the label.

    According to Spyro, he also took loans to support himself while with the label.

    In a scathing response on her Instagram story, Vanessa slammed Spyro for alleged ingratitude, stating that many musicians are “crazy” and prone to granting unnecessary interviews after achieving fame. 

    “Some of you people for this music industry dey craze. Small one hit. You are granting interviews and talking rubbish. The way a lot of you are so quick to bite the hand that has once helped you before. God forgive you,” she wrote.

    Music executive Paulo Okoye has fired back at singer Spyro, who claimed he struggled financially when he signed to Okoye’s record label.

    Spyro alleged that he had to take a loan to support himself, as he didn’t earn anything from the label, accusing Okoye of inability to manage the label.

    “I was signed to a record label owned by a billionaire who owns like 3 Rolls Royce… but I was signed and nothing was happening. I wasn’t even getting a dime,” he said in part.

    However, Okoye denied the allegations, sharing receipts of his expenses on Spyro on Instagram story.

    Okoye revealed that he spent N12 million on Spyro, including N4.2 million in expenses, two music videos and the singer’s first international trip to Dubai and the UK.

    Okoye accompanied the receipts with a caption, saying: “Wow wow – 2017. Spyro expenses 4.2m + 2 music video + first ever travel, Dubai, UK etc. Flight, hotel etc. Total spend N12m. Money made with Spyro = 0KoboNaira. But it is well, I’m happy for him”.

    On his Instagram, Paulo expressed his desire to see the trio put aside their past differences and come together in the spirit of brotherhood.

    He acknowledged the abundant blessings they’ve received from God and reminded them of their humble beginnings.

    Paulo praised the artists for inspiring Africa and the world with their hard work and talent.

    He emphasised the importance of forgiveness and unity, encouraging them to let go of past grievances.

    He concluded his message by reiterating his love for the artists and his hope for a united 2025.

Life is short, and God has blessed you guys abundantly. I pray they remember their humble beginnings and forgive past differences.     Talent manager Paulo Okoye has expressed concerns over Afrobeats’ struggling state locally and globally.

    In a recent social media post on Instagram, Okoye expressed concern that Afrobeats artists are no longer commanding the same level of success they enjoyed three years ago. 

    He attributed this to a significant decline in the genre’s global and local popularity, noting that the situation is particularly dire in Nigeria.

    Despite the bleak outlook, Okoye remained optimistic about Afrobeats’ future, expressing hope that the genre’s brightest stars would continue to shine, earning international recognition.

    He wrote: “Afrobeats is going through a lot lately!! Every Afrobeat artist was doing way better 3 years ago compared to today!! Only a few are making money at the moment, and that’s a fact!!

    “I can count on my one hand the Afrobeat artists who are making money Now!!
    Globally things are falling apart for Afrobeats. Locally, it’s even worse: no money anywhere.

    “Our bright stars will continue to shine and the world will continue to recognize our greatness. Afrobeat is going through a lot lately”.

    Music executive Paulo Okoye has stated that while Burna Boy currently stands unrivalled, Kizz Daniel has the potential to challenge him if he refines his craft.

    Okoye, who has previously collaborated with Kizz Daniel, highlighted the artist’s financial success, noting that their joint efforts have generated at least $7.5 million.

    In a recent interview with broadcaster, Daddy Freeze, Okoye emphasised that Kizz Daniel is the only artist capable of matching Burna Boy’s achievements.

    “Kizz Daniel is the only person that I know that can challenge Burna Boy if he puts himself together. I worked with him two years ago. And I know how much he makes. Kizz Daniel made at least $7.5 million from my side. I don’t even know how much he makes from others,” he said.

    Recall that Okoye had also claimed that Burna Boy is the richest Nigerian artist, estimating his earnings last year to be between $70 million and $80 million.

    Despite being rejected six times by a company, Paulo persisted and eventually secured a job for Davido.

    He attributed their success to hard work, stating that he wasn’t born with a “golden spoon.”

    This testimony comes amidst Paulo’s online dispute with Very Dark Man, who disparaged Paulo’s girlfriend, Iyabo Ojo.

    Talent manager, Paulo Okoye, has stated that 2024 will be a tough year for artists.

    He bemoaned the impending doom on Afrobeat stars following the high prices of tickets.

    Speaking of the tough times, Paulo posted on his Instagram story about the tough season that is gradually coming upon Afrobeats artists of all categories.

    According to Paulo Okoye, only Davido and Burna Boy are making waves as they were able to host a few concerts this year.

    He also warns against being like reggae musicians who have folded after a while.

    He wrote: “Tough time for Afrobeat (A & B & C class) Artist Price themselves out of the market. Not much shows + the global economy is not laughing as well. God help us.

    “2024 will be a tough year for Afrobeat!!! Apart from 2 artists this year (Burnaboy and Davido) they did a few shows, others are in trouble either they are overpriced or tickets are not selling hmmm. Let us not do what happened to Reggae musicians reduce your prices just think. How many shows you did this year.”

    In November 2023, Paulo Okoye posed an important question about the declining rate of concerts globally.
