AGN suspends Taye Arimoro over on-set altercation with Peggy Ovire

Actor Taye Arimoro has been suspended indefinitely from all film productions in Nigeria following a violent incident with Pegyy Ovire on the set of the movie Pieces of Love on 12 November 2025.

The decision, announced jointly by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), came after a coordinated investigation found Arimoro to be the primary aggressor in the altercation.

According to the official statement signed by AGN National President Dr. Emeka Rollas, DGN President Mr. Uche Agbo, and AMP President Amb. Dr. Queen Blessing Ebigieson, Arimoro physically assaulted the production manager and a driver during filming.

He later went live on social media, broadcasting what the guilds described as a “false and misleading” account of the incident that wrongly implicated producer Peggy Ovire, who was not present at the start of the confrontation.

“The Director, Production Manager, and crew were not culpable in any wrongdoing,” the statement read in part

In addition to the indefinite industry-wide ban, Arimoro has been ordered to, issue a public apology on the same platform he used for the controversial live video, addressed to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director, Frederick Atigogo; release a corrective video stating the accurate sequence of events; return under strict supervision to complete his remaining two scenes in Pieces of Love; comply with any further disciplinary measures from the guilds.

Producer Peggy Ovire, while cleared of initiating the violence, was reprimanded for escalating the situation by pursuing Arimoro outside the filming compound.

She has been directed by the board to tender written apologies to the guilds and the estate management, and to submit binding undertakings on improved set management and the future conduct of her driver.

The three guilds used the ruling to declare zero tolerance for violence, intimidation, or professional misconduct on any Nollywood set and confirmed that a unified national On-Set Conduct and Safety Code is now in development.

Peggy Ovire rejects Taye Arimoro’s N100m demand, calls claims ‘false’

Actress Peggy Ovire has issued a statement through her legal team, rejecting actor Taye Arimoro’s N100 million demand and denying his allegations of assault.

According to Peggy’s lawyers, Taye’s claims are “misleading, selective, and materially false,” and he is twisting the events that transpired.

The response alleges that Taye was asked to return to set but instead got into a heated confrontation, assaulting the Production Manager and head-butting Peggy’s driver, leaving him injured.

According to Peggy via the statement, witnesses reportedly gave statements to the police confirming Taye’s aggressive behavior.

Peggy’s team claims Taye tried to flee the scene, and any restraint was to prevent his escape before police arrived.

They maintain Peggy never assaulted Taye, and the only physical contact was when she “pushed him lightly” after he allegedly tried to deflate her tyres.

The letter dismissed Taye’s claims of mob action, broken jaw, harassment, or violence as fabricated, stating the matter is under investigation by the police and Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Peggy’s team rejected the N100 million demand, warning they may pursue petitions for assault, defamation, and interference with production.

Peggy captioned the post on Instagram, writing, “My silence should not be taken for weakness… the truth will unfold.”

Taye Arimoro demands N100 million from Peggy Ovire over alleged on-set assault

Actor Taye Arimoro has threatened legal action against his colleague Peggy Ovire, demanding a public apology and N100 million compensation over an alleged assault on a movie set.

The incident reportedly occurred when Taye attempted to leave the set after his contracted working hours had expired but Peggy’s team allegedly blocked his car and deflated the tyres.

Taye shared a viral video showing his injuries, including bleeding gums and lips, and accused Peggy and her crew of physical assault.

However, Peggy denied these allegations, claiming Taye was the aggressor and assaulted two crew members, including her driver, who suffered ear bleeding.

A CCTV footage later surfaced, appearing to contradict Peggy’s account, showing her removing wig and preparing to engage in a fight with Taye.

Taye’s lawyers argue that his rights to personal liberty, movement, and dignity were breached, and he’s seeking damages for emotional trauma, psychological stress, and loss of earnings.

Arimoro captioned the post: “@peggyovire, PRE-ACTION NOTICE. In light of the incident referenced in this correspondence, you have been served. Kindly forward all responses to my solicitors as indicated”.

Peggy has been given a seven-day ultimatum to respond to the allegations or face further legal action.

Drama as Taye Arimoro, Peggy Ovire clash on movie set

Actors Taye Arimoro and Peggy Ovire are embroiled in controversy following a reported physical altercation on a movie set.

Arimoro, who captured the incident via Instagram live video, said the trouble began when he attempted to leave the set after his contract time had elapsed, but was allegedly prevented from doing so by Peggy Ovire and her team.

He claimed that his car was blocked, and was assaulted by Peggy Ovire’s team, resulting in visible injuries to his gum and lips.

However, Peggy Ovire disputed Arimoro’s account, alleging that the actor became aggressive and physically assaulted two crew members when they asked him to complete a few scenes.

“Taye, you beat up two crew members simply because you felt they had no voice – no social media presence, no one to speak for them. They were only begging you to please complete two short scenes so we could wrap the night. Moments later, you went live to record their reaction – leaving out the part where the violence began”.

She claimed that Taye reacted sharply when she approached him to discuss the shoot and later punched the production manager multiple times.

“You reacted sharply when I tried to talk to you, so I decided to give you space. Later, when the Production manager approached you to appeal for more time, you got physical with him. You had punched the Production manager three times, and he was on the floor before the driver came out”, she added.

Peggy further alleged that the situation escalated when Taye’s driver got involved, and her driver was left bleeding from the ear.

She, however, denied blocking Taye’s car or instructing her driver to do so, instead claiming that Taye drove off while she was still beside the vehicle

Taking to the comment section, Ovire said: “Just say you earn more than your husband Kiekie, then bill sharing is a must. It is my husband’s responsibility to pay the bills especially since he can afford it. Mine is to take care of the home and be there for emergency cases. My man won’t even let me pay jack.”
