Coalition of Civil Society Networks on AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM Networks) has called for monitoring of funding for Primary Health Care (PHC) to prevent mismanagement and enable robust public health programmes at the ward level.
Anambra State Coordinator, TB Network, Ifeyinwa Unachukwu, said this during the state media meeting on the ATM Anambra State Global Fund, GC-7/C19RM/RSSH project in the state.

She attributed high malaria mortality rate among under-5 children to out-of-pocket medical expenses and discouraging care-seeking behaviour, especially among the poorest households.
Unachukwu regretted that even when services such as TB treatment were free, hidden costs such as transportation made them inaccessible to many, particularly those in rural areas.
