  • Six things to do when your phone is overheating

Six things to do when your phone is overheating

We rely significantly on our smartphones for almost everything in today’s society, including business, entertainment and communication.

Whatever the reason, if your phone overheats, there are a few steps you can take to help cool things down and prevent it from happening again.

Here are the 6 steps you can take when your phone is overheating and tips on how to avoid it in the future.

    1. Close apps you’re not using

One common reason for a phone to overheat is that too many apps are running in the background. When you leave apps open, even if you’re not actively using them, they continue to work and use the phone’s processor. This can lead to your phone heating up over time. To solve this, go to your phone’s settings or app manager and close any apps that you’re not using. This will reduce the strain on your phone and help cool it down.

    2. Reset or turn off the phone

You may want to power the phone down and let it sit in a cool place for a bit. Unfortunately, this can be more complicated than you might expect. Modern smartphones have made it so the power button on your device can do more than simply turn it on and off.

To turn off your phone, iPhone users have several options. With iOS 18, the quickest way is the power option in the Control Center. Android devices differ by model and manufacturer, though it usually involves some combination of pressing the Side button (or Home button) and Volume buttons.

    3. Take off your phone case
Sometimes your phone case can trap heat, making it harder for your phone to cool down. If your phone starts to feel hot, try taking off the case to give it a chance to breathe. Without the case, heat can escape more easily, and your phone will cool down faster. Just be careful when handling your phone without a case to avoid dropping it.

    4. Keep it out of direct sunlight

Leaving your phone in direct sunlight or using it outdoors on a hot day can cause it to overheat quickly.

Phones are sensitive to temperature, and excessive heat from the sun can make them hot to the touch. If you’re outside, try to keep your phone in the shade or in your bag when you’re not using it. This small step can help prevent overheating due to environmental factors.

    5. Reduce screen brightness
Another reason your phone might be overheating is that the screen brightness is turned up too high. The brighter your screen, the more energy it uses, which can cause your phone to heat up. Reducing the brightness of your screen is a quick and simple way to reduce the temperature of your phone. You can also enable automatic brightness, which adjusts the screen based on the lighting around you, helping save energy and prevent overheating.

    6. Avoid intensive tasks
Tasks like gaming, video editing, or watching high-definition videos for long periods can cause your phone to overheat. These activities put a lot of pressure on the phone’s processor, causing it to heat up. If you notice your phone getting hot during these activities, take a break and let it cool down. You can also try closing other apps running in the background to reduce the workload on your phone.

  • I’m praying for you, Obasanjo tells Buhari

I’m praying for you, Obasanjo tells Buhari

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has assured President Muhammadu Buhari that he is praying for him to return home soon from London.

Obasanjo spoke with Buhari on phone when the President called on Sunday from London to felicitate with him on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Obasanjo, during the telephone conversation, also wished Buhari good
    health.

He said that he stands together with him in prayers, so that he can return
soon to continue the good work he is doing for the country.

President Buhari told the former military ruler (1976 to 1979) and democratically elected president (1999 to 2007) that a time like this provides opportunity to reflect on Obasanjo’s invaluable roles and contributions to the unity and cohesion of Nigeria, the brotherhood of all Africans, as well as peace and
    amity over the globe.

Buhari, in a statement by the Special Adviser on media and publicity, Femi
Adesina, also described the former president as “a true citizen of the
    world.”

Recalling their days in the military, President Buhari said: “Those of us
who served under you in various capacities recall a man with boundless
energy, with razor sharp mind, and one who does not suffer fools gladly.
Working with you was a school in itself, and the lessons learnt are worth
    their weight in gold.”

Trump alleges wire tapping by Obama during campaign

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday accused former president Barack Obama of wire tapping him in October during the late stages of the presidential election campaign, but offered no evidence to support the allegation.

“How low has President Obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!,” Trump said in a series of Tweets on his Twitter account early on Saturday.

Obama’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

In one of the Tweets, Trump said the alleged wire tapping took place in his Trump Tower skyscraper in New York, but there was “nothing found”.

Trump’s administration has come under pressure from FBI and congressional investigations into contacts between some members of his campaign team and Russian officials during his campaign.

Obama imposed sanctions on Russia and ordered Russian diplomats to leave the U.S. in December over the country’s involvement in hacking political groups in the Nov. 8 U.S. presidential election.

Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, resigned in February after revelations that he had discussed U.S. sanctions on Russia with the Russian ambassador to the United States before Trump took office.

Flynn had promised Vice President Mike Pence he had not discussed U.S. sanctions with the Russians, but transcripts of intercepted communications, described by officials, showed that the subject had come up in conversations between him and the Russian ambassador.

Trump has often used his Twitter account to attack rivals and for years led a campaign alleging that Obama was not born in the U.S.

Garba Shehu misses Buhari’s phone call, receives sms

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, has narrated how he missed the President’s phone call on Saturday.

The presidential aide, who made this known on his Facebook page on Saturday, said the Buhari originated a call to him from his London abode after he (Buhari) had spoken with some members of the presidential media team.

He, however, revealed that he received a text message from the President after missing the call.

According to him, the President had earlier spoken with the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

He said: “A day for the Presidential Media Team.

“We are thankful to the President, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for sparing the time to make calls to the Media team.

“The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed and the Special Adviser, Femi Adesina responded to the calls, exchanged greetings and thanked him for calling.

“I had an SMS from him thereafter because I missed my call! I humbly join them to say thank you, Baba Buhari!!

“We are together with other Nigerians of all faiths, in praying for his safe return.’’

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Femi Adesina had earlier published his phone conversation with the president, on his Facebook page, on Saturday.

Adesina said: “And President Buhari called at 2:43p.m

“At exactly 2.43 p.m today, Saturday, February 25, 2017, my phone rang. Who was at the other end? Tunde Sabiu, personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Hold on for Mr President,” Tunde said.
And in a matter of seconds, the very familiar voice came:

“Femi, how are you?” (He calls me Adesina most times, but today, he opted for Femi)

I screamed :”Mr President, I have missed you. How are you sir?”

He first laughed. That familiar laugh. Then he said: “I am still resting. Thank you for holding out
    against mischief makers.”

I said it was my duty, the very least I could do, adding how happy I was to speak with him.

    “How is your family?”

I said we were fine, and he asked me to extend his greetings to them.

“I hope to call you again, ” Mr President said, and I bade him farewell, adding: “Best wishes, sir.”

“It was a defining moment for me. For more than a month, I had always spoken with aides who are with the President in London.

“Not once did I ask them to take the phone to him, deliberately so, because I didn’t need to speak with him to validate the fact that he was alive. And since he was on vacation, he had a right to his privacy.

“Of his own volition, President Buhari spoke with me. It made my day. Even if he hadn’t done so, he would have remained my
President, my leader, and my man. Any day.’’
President Buhari had proceeded on a 10-day vacation and a routine medical check in UK on Jan. 19.

In a letter he sent to both arms of the National Assembly the president said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would act as president pending his return.

The president, who could not make it back to the country on Feb. 6, transmitted another letter to the Senate requesting extension of time to complete his medical check-up in London.(NAN)

  • LASPOTECH, firm to build phone assembly lab

LASPOTECH, firm to build phone assembly lab

The Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ikorodu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Afrifone, a phone-producing firm, to establish a mobile phone repair and assembly laboratory in the institution.

The proposed lab is to teach and empower students and staff.

At the signing of the MoU in the school’s board room, the Rector, Mr Samuel Sogunro, noted that the deal was in tandem with the efforts of the Lagos State government to instil entrepreneurship in youths.

He said the lab would be hosted in the Faculty of Engineering.

Said Sogunro: “This (laboratory) will promote the image of the institution and add value to the students. There are a lot of graduates out there without jobs. That is why our focus is for the students to use their hands to do things that will profit them not to look for white collar jobs. This will be useful to our students, staff and even artisans outside campus.”

He said Afrifone promised to provide equipment needed in the laboratory, furnish it appropriately in addition to facilitating well-structured curriculum with human capacity development for staff who will man the laboratory.

The company will also absorb LASPOTECH students for their one- year Industrial Training, Sogunro added.

The Divisional Head, Afrifone, Mr Sadiq Natu, said his firm’s gesture formed part of the drive towards youth empowerment.

“We are establishing a mobile device factory in Lagos and to that extent, we want to partner LASPOTECH so that the students here, especially in the electronics and telecommunications field, will learn skills that will make them ready for the electronics industry, in terms of repair, maintenance and assembling. The skills they would gain here can be used anywhere; so the skills are not restricted to our own facility.

“We want to partner the Lagos State government in its youth empowerment programme. We want to be part of the development of the state. Being the first phone assembling company in Nigeria, we are not here just to do business and go. We want to be part of the culture and the people and grow with the nation,” he said.
