  • ‘Wikki, Pillars’ game, a family affairs’

Supporters of Wikki Tourists and Kano Pillars have been urged to see Sunday’s matchday 28 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match between the two sides as a family affairs.

In a chat with SportingLife, Kano Pillars media officer, Idris Malikawa urged the teeming supporters of the club that would be in Bauchi on Sunday to be law abiding and avoid anything that would distract the good cordial relationship between the good people of Kano and Bauchi States during the match.

“There is no doubt that the match would be the star match of the week based on the current form of our players and Wikki Tourists. Again, the stand of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and League management Company (LMC) in ensuring that match officials are discharging their responsibility effectively would also add glamour to the game. So instead of seeing the game as a northern derby; it would be of benefit for the supporters of both clubs if they can see it as a way of promoting good football and avoid anything that can bring ember of discord between the two clubs.  We are going there with mission and by God grace our target would be achieved this season,” Malikawa said to SportingLife.

Sai Masu Gida rounded off their training session on Friday morning at the Sani Abacha stadium kofar Mata Kano with a friendly match with a state Premier League team Kano Feeder FC and trashed them 8-0 courtesy of Nwagua Nyima, Adamu Muhammad, Kabiru  Balogun, Hamza Abba Tiya, Rabi’u Ali, Nafiu Kabuga and Amos Gyang goals.

Consistency is vital for Pillars, says Aloma

Idris Aloma believes that consistency in the second round of the Nigerian topflight will be vital in reviving Kano Pillars’ season.

“As you can see we are sweating it out in training, everyone knows what’s at stake and working hard to be ready,” Aloma told Goal.

“Like I have always said, I am a champion and anywhere I find myself I give my best. The Kano Pillars  squad is a fantastic one and we are going for the real deal. We aren’t under any sort of pressure but we are determined to perform and make the fans happy again.

“The start of a league is important but it really doesn’t matter, what matters most is the consistency through the 38 matches we shall play. We have played 19 and have 19 more matches to go so there’s still an equal opportunity for all the teams and the difference at the and of the season will be those who took their chances and those who failed to take their chances,” he said.

  • ‘Nigeria has too many caterpillars, few pillars’

‘Nigeria has too many caterpillars, few pillars’

General Overseer of Christ Fire Word Evangelism Ministries Lagos, Prophet Israel Owonibi, has declared that God is prepared to deliver the nation from those he described as “caterpillars”.

The caterpillars, according to him, are few elements who have held the nation to ransom for years to satisfy their selfish interests.

Owonibi spoke recently after the annual 40-day prophetic night of the church.

He said: “President Buhari is a good man. He means well for the nation. The bad people have corrupted the nation.

“God would have to remove these caterpillars because they want to destroy the pillars for selfish reasons.

“The pillars are few but the caterpillars are plenty. The caterpillars are destroyers.

“The Lord said they should tell Buhari to release food to the nation. They should not allow hardship to continue.”

The cleric had been with CAC for many years before starting his ministry.

He recalled how he started. “The call had been there before I was born. There was a prophecy that a great prophet would be born into the family and I had a lot of challenges while I was growing up because of this revelation.”

On the roles his wife played in the ministry, Owonibi said: “When I got the call, I told my fiancée but she turned me down. She just didn’t want to be a wife of a minister.

“Ministers of the gospel in those days weren’t successful as you have it now. Their collars and shoes were dirty.

“So, I went to the mountain in Nasarawa and God said He had prepared another woman for me and that I would meet her in an unknown place.

“God revealed her identity to me and I met her on the way to a conference at Arakeji. There I saw a woman that was about to be knocked down by a car and I rushed to her side and saved her life.

“Since that moment, she did not leave me. She has been wonderful in the ministry and very supportive.”

Kano Pillars attacking midfielder Amos Gyang said his team have gradually regained their fearsome instinct in the on-going Nigerian top-flight.

“We are getting good results match after match which is good for our confidence and morale. We are gradually improving with each match and I see us doing even better in the matches ahead. We are going to get more positive results as the level of understanding among us is almost 100 per cent.

“The successes we have recorded in the recent matches are a huge boost to claim more high-flying results. Wikki Tourists gave us a scare but the unity and resolve to excel helped us to subdue the Bauchi-based side. We will take our new-found strength and winning aura to league leaders Plateau United at the weekend in Jos.

“The encounter will be a big game, but we are equal to the task and should be able to come back with a decent result. Our main target is the summit as we are determined to once again challenge for the title at the end of the league season,” said the former Giwa FC marksman to supersport.com.
