The Peace in the South East Project  (PISE-P) initiated by the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu is to partner with Google, Amazon, and Microsoft for the development of the southeast region and the nation as a whole.

PISE-P is an initiative that canvasses a non-kinetic approach toward resolving the security challenges in the southeast region.

Receiving a delegation from Neuo Mobile Communication and Technology Limited, Kalu said technology is a major catalyst for youth employment in the 21st century.

The deputy speaker commended the delegation for their innovation and commitment to making a difference in the ever-evolving world of technology, while giving a nod to the partnership proposal with Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, noting that it’s for the benefit of Southeast indigenes and other creative minds.

He said: “I see greatness in this mustard seed, I see great opportunities out there. I have seen your passion to make a difference, and your understanding of the time that we are in, the time of digitalization.

“You have not only earned the trust and recognition of being registered and licensed by the relevant regulatory government agencies, which is the first step to make sure that you are involved with the type of technology that is not going to be anti-government

“It means you’re compliant towards the goals and aspirations of the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You came with both the software and the hardware which are the two sides of information, and communication technology.

“We are accepting the partnership for Google, and Amazon to partner with Peace in the South East project. We know what that’s going to do for our people, both in south East and other parts of Nigeria. It’s about time we prove to our people that we are better than the hands we use in holding guns, the same hands can build innovative solutions to our problems.

“It’s about time that we prove that those boys can create solutions that we all will celebrate. All they have been asking for is a listening ear. The Peace in the South East Project has made itself available to be the listening ear. We will be their mouthpiece showcasing their needs. Technology will be one of the routes to achieving that, with your visit, I believe this is an audacious, auspicious moment to explore potential collaborations and partnerships. I’m sure with that we will further our shared goals. Thanks for your creativity, I promise that this office will support creative minds like you.

“You have not only earned the trust and recognition of being duly registered and licensed by all relevant regulatory government agencies, but you are also a provider of technological applications and devices.

“Your example of making innovative technology affordable and accessible aligns perfectly with our shared vision for a digitally inclusive society. In the business of manufacturing and selling mobile phones, tablets, desktops, and laptops under the brand name “NEUO,” your company would be providing opportunities for employment and gainful engagement for the youth.

“Furthermore, your dedication to developing applications and software tailored to suit the unique requirements of your clients showcases your commitment to meeting Nigerians’ contemporary technology needs.”

Executive Director of Business and Development of the company, Joseph Asuquo told the Deputy Speaker that the purpose of the visit was to introduce the company and congratulate him on his emergence as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

A security consultant with the Inter-Pol systems, Chief Chikwe Udensi, has thrown his weight behind the Peace In the South-East Project (PISE-P).

PISE-P is a strategic platform for the restoration of peace in the South-East region. It’s a collective initiative of the members of the South-East Caucus in the 10th National Assembly led by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

The project was unveiled by President Bola Amend Tinubu in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State on December 29, 2023.

Speaking in his Arochukwu country home during a courtesy visit by the Head of the Media and Publicity of PISE–P, Mrs Mary Ikoku, Udensi, who lauded Kalu and his fellow lawmakers for envisioning the project, said that he agreed totally with the idea, advocating that peace is good for all.

“I do agree that peace in South-East is ultimate “Udo kanma,” he asserted and promised to to support the PISE-P project through counseling, as well as providing both the hardware and the software tools required for the job.

“I’m going to provide two contributions for this project to succeed, because my area of specialty is security and at the risk of sounding immodest, let me say that I’m the highest-ranking security consultant in Nigeria today, representing 196 Inter-Pol member-nations of the world in Nigeria.

“I consider it a privilege to be associated with this noble venture. I will provide advice and the tools that are very important for this task. The tools will enhance the project, both the hardware and the software that will give you access to necessary data that you require to make this project worth the while.

“I will also provide some funding, because this project will be capital-intensive as it involves moving around. You’re the one going to fund it. My prayers are that God will empower you people spiritually and physically for this venture to be successful.

“Let me commend you once again, because of the things you always associated yourself with are things that are quite beneficial to the society without putting financial consideration first.

“If you look into the system today, most people who will want to handle any project must consider what is in there for them and not the ones that are intended to bring value without personal gains, I want to thank you a whole lot and say congratulations for the honour to be associated with PISE-P,” Udensi stated.

PISE-P galvanizes peace, unity in South East

Peace in South East Project (PISE-P), a dynamic non-partisan advocacy organisation, has emerged with a resounding mission to restore the South East‘s rightful place in the national political space and usher in the era of democracy dividends.

Determined to attain this noble objective, PISE-P has devised a non-kinetic approach built on the Seven Pillars for Sustainable Development, gearing to accomplish its vision within the next five years.

“The key to our success lies in our commitment to our objectives,” stated Ogbonna Ukuku, Project Coordinator.

“These objectives encompass a range of transformative actions, such as reorienting citizens towards national unity, identifying the root causes of conflicts, and developing effective strategies for their management.

“Moreover, PISE-P aims to carry out impactful programs and initiatives to foster national peace and harmony while positively impacting constituencies with the dividends of democracy”.

He stated that additionally, the organization seeks to empower and nurture the youth as the future leaders of tomorrow through strategic programs that are politically, economically, and socially engaging.

Ukuku emphasised that the overarching goal of PISE-P is to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development in the South Eastern region of Nigeria. Leveraging on the seven crucial pillars of education, agriculture, commerce and industry, infrastructural development, culture and tourism, sports and entertainment, as well as governance and leadership, the organization aims to drive progress and create resilient communities that facilitate social cohesion.

Speaking about the pillars in detail, Simon Karu, the Director of Programmes at PISE-P, highlighted the organization’s plans for education. These include establishing and renovating schools in conflict-affected areas, enhancing teacher training, providing teaching materials, and establishing scholarship programs for vulnerable and disadvantaged students.

Karu also emphasized the organization’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and vocational training for young people through the pillars of commerce and industry. PISE-P plans to establish business incubation centers, provide access to start-up capital, strengthen market linkages, support value chain development, encourage the establishment of cooperatives and business associations, and facilitate trade and investment fairs to drive economic growth and job creation.

Sam Hart said the essence of PISE-P is to guide the people, and “we need help, we need hope and the need for the people to own it for it to be sustainable”.

PISE-P was launched after a report of the SBM Intelligence, which said the region loses up to N13 billion a day whenever people stage a protest in the region. The South East region of Nigeria is known as a hub for entrepreneurial activities, as the majority of the people are into various forms of nano, micro, small, medium, and large-scale businesses.

“A recent study by SBM Intelligence for DevEast Foundation Ltd./Gte, a not-for-profit policy and business advocacy organization, estimates that in the transportation sector, the South East loses about N10 billion – N13 billion every protest day, and traders also lose between N5.4 billion- N31 billion daily.”

It continued that, “The South East region, once considered a hub for entrepreneurial activities, is grappling with a myriad of socio-economic issues, including rising unemployment, inflation, and security threats.

“The impact of separatist agitations has led to economic downturns, hindering the region’s potential for growth. PISE-P recognizes the urgent need to address these challenges, restore peace, and unlock the untapped potential within the region.”

Expressing gratitude, Mary Ikoku, the Director of Media, acknowledged the dedicated individuals involved in the formation of PISE-P. She said, “The coming together of this group of passionate individuals showcases a genuine interest in revitalizing the social, political, and economic growth of our region. I must particularly commend the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for his overwhelming support and the pivotal role he plays in the organization.

Ikoku emphasized that the task of rebuilding the Southeast lies not only with political, religious, and traditional leaders but with every individual. She passionately called upon all stakeholders to join hands in repositioning the region for progress and development.

With PISE-P at the helm, the South East can look forward to an era of inclusive political representation, driven by sustainable development and a united vision for the future.
