  • 10,000 police jobs: PSC gets 158,773 applications within 18 days

    THE Police Service Commission (PSC) said it has received 158,773 applications from Nigerians who are seeking employment into the Police as constables.

    The commission said it got the submissions 18 days after the announcement to recruitment was made.

    Of the total applications received, 140,902 are males and 17, 871 are females.

    The commission while giving an update of the recruitment process in a statement in Abuja, its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, said the submissions reached 158,773 as at 11.00am yesterday.

    On the states with highest and lowest submissions, Ani said: “Niger State maintained its lead with 11,047 applicants and Bayelsa also remained last with 672 applicants. Kano State has the second highest applicants with 10,745 applications, Katsina State third with 9,778, Bauchi State fourth with 8,882 and Kaduna fifth with 8,832 and Adamawa sixth with 7,722.”

    List of successful police job seekers released

    The Police Service Commission (PSC) has released the names of successful 10,000 applicants that will be recruited into the Nigeria Police Force.

    President Muhammadu Buhari at a Security Summit in Abuja last year announced the federal government’s decision to inject 10,000 police men into the Force.

    The commission explained that the recruitment exercise was based on merit, Federal Character and geographical spread and all the successful candidates went through the processes put in place for the exercise which involved the screening of the credentials of the candidates and physical screening such as height, sight, chest etc.

    The Commission in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday by the Spokesman of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani stated that the Commission has conclusively completed the recruitment of the General duty applicants made up of 500 Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP), 500 Cadet Inspectors and, 7,500 Constables.

    It also noted that it has concluded the recruitment of 80percent of 1,500 specialists expected to be recruited into the Force and have shortlisted applicants who applied for some disciplines that require further professional/expert interview.

    According the Commission, the specialists include; engineers, laboratory scientists and technicians, community health officers and the date for the interview will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates.

    Applicants have been asked to check the following Commission’s websites; www.psc.gov.ng and the Nigeria Police Force website, www.npf.gov.ng for their names.

  • PSC shortlists over 300,000 for police jobs

    The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday said it has shortlisted 338,227 applicants out of the 911,438 that applied for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.

    The Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mike Okiro, who disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja, said screening of successful applicants would begin on June 6 in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Okiro explained that 44,661 were shortlisted for cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), 87,736 for Cadet Inspector and 205,830 for Police Constables.

    He said  “I would like to emphasise that the initial shortlisting of applicants was done electronically.

    “Invitation letters were also sent to successful applicants through SMS and to their personal email addresses.”

    He, however, warned applicants against fake letters from criminal elements, saying “the invitation stated the date for each person’s screening and venue of the screening.

    “Applicants will be grouped according to their local government areas and a date fixed for their screening,” the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted the PSC chairman as saying at the briefing.

    705,352 apply for police jobs

    The Police Service Commission (PSC) has received 705,352 applications in the ongoing Nigeria Police Force recruitment exercise.

    President Muhammadu Buhari last year approved the recruitment of 10,000 policemen.

    The Commission’s portal, which  opened on April 1 to interested applicants, will close May 13.

    The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mike Okiro,  said he was excited about Nigerians’ interest in  the police.

    The update  was  contained in a statement in Abuja yesterday by the Head of Press and Public Relations Unit of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani.

    According to the statement: “The Police Service Commission has at 7.30am today, Tuesday, April 19th, received 705,352 applications from applicants who are seeking employment into the recently advertised 10,000 vacancies into the Nigeria Police Force.

    “A breakdown of the applications showed that 202, 427 applicants have successfully applied for the position of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), 169,446, for the position of Cadet Inspector and 333,479 for the position of Constables.”

    The commission will be recruit 500 Cadet Asps, 500 Cadet Inspectors, 1,500 Specialist Officers and 7, 500 Constables.
