    Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested two brothers for alleged robbery during a raid on a mechanic workshop in Ore, headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

    The suspects, identified as Monday Akinmusere and Oluwaseun Akinmusere, were apprehended over the weekend following intelligence gathering by the Divisional Police Office in Ore.

    Their arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, in Akure.

    According to Ayanlade, a locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from the suspects after a thorough search of the workshop.

    “Acting on a credible tip-off from a reliable source, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at about 5:15 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer, Ore, led his team to raid a mechanic workshop located off Okitipupa Road, Ore.

    “During the operation, two suspects – one Monday Akinmusere and Oluwaseun Akinmusere, both males and residents of Ore – were arrested. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge,” the statement read in part.

    He added that the suspects are currently in custody while investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the firearm and uncover any links with other criminal elements in the area.

    Ayanlade further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the officers for their swift and professional action.

    The commissioner also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their timely and useful information, urging continued collaboration with the police to ensure a safer society.

    The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four suspects involved in a ‘one-chance’ robbery and attempted kidnapping.

    In the process, two victims were successfully rescued.

    According to a statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh: “On 8th October 2025, at about 10:09 p.m., the Command received a report at Life Camp Police Station that a victim had called in distress, alleging that she had been abducted by suspected criminals who demanded a ransom of ₦1,000,000 for her release.

    “Upon receipt of the report, police operatives from Life Camp Division immediately swung into action. Through the deployment of digital and tactical intelligence, on 9th October 2025, at about 4:30 a.m., the suspects were arrested at Dape Village after a near-deadly confrontation with the police.

    “Two victims were rescued during the operation. However, one of them, who sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by the suspects, was promptly rushed to Gwarinpa General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

    “The arrested suspects are: Solomon Tanko ‘m’, Samuel Audu ‘m’, Chigozie Joseph ‘m’, Emmanuel Chidiebere ‘m’”.

    Adeh said further investigation revealed that the suspects have been involved in a series of ‘one-chance’ robberies around the Bannex and Kado areas, using a vehicle with tinted windows to deceive unsuspecting passengers.

    She said they revealed that they had picked and robbed six (6) victims, both men and women, before their arrest.

    Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: 15 international passports, two sharp daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three biros.

    Adeh said the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

    “The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, commended the swift response of the Life Camp Divisional Police Officers and urged residents to always trust the police and report incidents promptly for quick intervention.

    “He also advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, and CRU FCT: 08107314192”, she added.

    The Katsina State Police Command has announced that it successfully foiled several banditry attacks, recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), fabricated firearms, and arrested 168 suspects across the state.

    The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this during a press briefing in Katsina while presenting the Command’s achievements for the month of September on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

    According to him, the Command adopted multiple security strategies and worked tirelessly to safeguard lives and property across the state.

    Highlighting the successes recorded, Aliyu said the police arrested 12 suspected armed robbers, 5 murder and culpable homicide suspects, and 14 suspected illicit drug dealers, among others.

    “The Command foiled several bandit attacks, neutralising five suspected armed bandits and rescuing over 80 kidnapped victims within the period under review,” he stated.

    Recovered exhibits, he said, included 1,298 rounds of live ammunition, four cartridges, one GPMG, two AK-47 rifles, and a large quantity of suspected vandalised electric cables, among other items.

    Aliyu commended the Katsina State Government and residents for their continued support, collaboration, and assistance in maintaining peace and order.

    He also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency contact lines to sustain the ongoing fight against crime and insecurity in the state.

    Police reaffirm people-centered policing, strengthen community partnership

    The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has restated the command’s commitment to community-driven and people-centered policing, emphasizing that citizens are the most vital partners in crime prevention and public safety.

    Jimoh made the remark during an interactive stakeholders’ meeting held at the POWA Multipurpose Hall, Ikeja, as part of activities marking the 2025 Customer Service Week.

    The event brought together members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders from across the state to discuss ways of deepening collaboration between the police and the public.

    Describing the Customer Service Week as a global initiative aimed at strengthening the bond between service providers and the people they serve, the Commissioner said the Police under Inspector-General, (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun, have adopted it to promote accountability, empathy, and public trust in policing.

    “Policing is about service to humanity. Without the people, there can be no police. Community policing means placing citizens at the center of our priorities. We must listen to the people, understand their challenges, and work together to find lasting solutions,” said CP Jimoh.

    He noted that the command had earlier conducted a free medical outreach for Lagos residents as part of the celebration, noting that social support and welfare were also part of policing.

    The police boss explained that many disputes handled by the service are not purely criminal but require mediation and early intervention to prevent violence. “When we step in to resolve domestic misunderstandings or non-criminal complaints, it is to preserve peace before things escalate,” he said.

    As the festive season approaches, the Commissioner assured Lagosians of enhanced security, saying the command had reviewed its strategies to match the tempo of increased commercial and travel activities.

    “We have intensified patrols and adopted proactive crime-prevention measures across the state. Lagosians should sleep with their eyes closed,” he assured.

    CP imoh commended officers of the command for professionalism and discipline, noting that cases of misconduct were being decisively addressed to sustain public trust.

    Participants at the meeting applauded the police for progress in reducing crimes such as robbery, cultism, and thuggery. They, however, urged intensified efforts against “one chance” robberies and drug abuse among youths.

    They pledged continued partnership with the police through intelligence sharing and community sensitization to maintain peace and order across Lagos State.

    The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) yesterday paraded 12 notorious armed robbery suspects responsible for the death of Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise News, and Mr. Barnabas Danlami, a security guard.

    The incident occurred during a robbery operation at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, on September 29, 2025.

    Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, while parading the suspects at the FCT Police Command Headquarters, Garki, Abuja, said it was necessary to keep the public accurately informed on the significant progress recorded in the ongoing investigation.

    Hundeyin said: “Following the incident, operatives of the FCT Police Command immediately launched a coordinated intelligence-driven investigation.

    “Through diligent efforts and extensive digital intelligence analysis, 12 suspects linked to the robbery have been successfully arrested.

    “They are: “Shamsudeen Hassan; Hassan Isah (22); Abubakar AlKamu a.k.a. Abba (27); Sani Sirajo a.k.a. Dan Borume (20); Mashkur Jamilu a.k.a. Abba (28); Suleiman Badamasi a.k.a. Dan-Sule (21); Abdulsalam Saleh a.k.a. Na-Durudu; Zaharadeen Muhammad a.k.a. Gwaska (23); Musa Adamu a.k.a. Musa Hassan (30); Sumayya Mohammed a.k.a. Baby (27); Isah Abdulrahman a.k.a. Abbati (25) and Musa Umar a.k.a. Small (31).

    “Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: One locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, one locally made pistol, one pump-action gun, 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, two live cartridges, four mobile phones, two sharp knives, one cutlass and two flashlights.

    “Investigations revealed that the fatal shot which claimed the life of the security guard, Mr. Barnabas Danlami, was fired by one of the suspects, Shamsudeen Hassan, who stated that he shot the guard when the latter attempted to prevent them from gaining access to the apartment complex.

    “It was further revealed that their firearms were sourced from a yet-to-be-identified supplier in Niger Republic, and that they had taken part in other armed robbery operations within Katampe I, Apo, Zuba, and other parts of the FCT.

    “The Nigeria Police Force extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu and Mr. Barnabas Danlami, assuring that justice will be pursued to its logical conclusion.

    “The Force remains resolute in ensuring that all individuals connected to this grievous crime are prosecuted in accordance with the law. We commend the exceptional professionalism, courage, and dedication of the operatives of the FCT Police Command, whose painstaking efforts led to these arrests and recoveries.

    “Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely and credible information that will aid in the prevention and detection of crime.

    Police arrest 37 in Edo for alleged sexual, domestic abuse

    The police command in Edo says it has arrested 37 suspects for allegedly involving in sexual and domestic abuse in the state.

    Mr Monday Agbonika, the commissioner of police in Edo disclosed this in Benin on Saturday while addressing journalists on the command’s crime fighting achievements for the month of September.

    According to him, the efforts are deliberately meant to tackle the disturbing trend of sexual and gender based violence including rape.

    “The suspects have been investigated and are being prosecuted in the court.

    “The command also arrested suspects involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, and cultism among others in the state.

    “Seven suspected kidnappers were arrested while two others were neutralised,” he said.

    The commissioner of police also disclosed that 48 victims were  rescued from captivity during various operations within the period under review.

    He further said that the command’s operations successfully disrupted cult initiations in Benin, Auchi and Ekpoma leading to the arrest of 38 suspected cultists including leaders of rival groups.

    The police boss explained that the command also reduced cult killings in Benin within the period to a zero per cent level.

    Agbonika listed the items recovered within the period to include eight firearms, 56 live ammunition, and five expended cartridges.

    Others include; nine vehicles, 18 motorcycles, six car master keys, 10 University of Benin’s Car Security Access Cards, android phone, nine Apple phones, and two POS machines.

    As part of its renewed operational strategy, he said the command had intensified its focus on intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and most importantly, community-driven partnerships.

    He asserted that the command had built a network of support that had greatly enhanced its crime-fighting capabilities in the state.

    Police nab man for selling 5-day-old son in Ebonyi

     The Police Command in Ebonyi has detained a middle-aged-man, Chukwuma Onwe, for allegedly selling his 5-day-old son for N1.5 million.

    Onwe, a native of Nwezenyi-Igbeagu Community in Izzi Local Government Area of the state, was apprehended when his would be wife, Philomena Iroko, alerted her neighbour, who informed the police of the husband’s action.

    The baby boy was said to have been sold to one Chinyere Ugochukwu, a female, who has also been nabbed by the police.

    SP Joshua Ukandu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abakaliki, that the baby had been recovered from the alleged buyer.

    Ukandu said that the father of the child was arrested alongside the alleged buyer on Friday at Azugwu area of Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state.

    “Yes, he, Onwe has been arrested and is currently in our custody. We are going to commence investigation into the matter,” the PPRO said.

    Iroko, the baby’s mother said that her proposed husband took away her son to Ugochukwu (the alleged buyer) without her knowledge.

    “The man, who is yet to be my husband, took the child and lied to me that he gave the baby to his sister for further care.

    “I did not know that the woman he gave my son to had already paid him in exchange for my 5-day-old baby.

    “Thank God, my son has been recovered and he is healthy. I commend the Nigeria Police Force,” she added.

    Iroko, however pleaded to the general public for help to enable her take care of the baby.

    “The father of my son told me that he will marry me but I didn’t know that he was deceiving me all the while.

    “Look at me, where will I run to. No husband and no one to take care of my baby.

    “I am begging the state government and individuals to come to my assistance,” she said.

    Abia police rescues 20 children, arrests 10 suspected child traffickers

    Police have rescued eight toddlers and 10 children, said to have been stolen by a syndicate notorious in kidnapping, stealing and buying children from various illegal sources in the state with the intention of selling them to their syndicates or trafficking them to other parts of the country.

    The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Danladi Isa speaking on the development on Friday, disclosed that the command had already arrested 10 suspected members of the child trafficking gang.

    Isa gave the names of the gang members as Mrs. Best Ndubusi, female, 41yrs, of Apaa Osokwa, Osisioma LGA, Abia State; Charles Enyinnaya, male, 25yrs, of Umuogele Ovom, Aba South LGA, Abia State;, Eunice Ezekiel, female, 35yrs, of No. 1 Foursquare, Umukalika, Aba South LGA, Abia State; and Nnena Kalu, female, 60yrs, of Osisioma LGA, Abia State.

    Others, according to the state police chief include Gideon Esther, female, 25yrs, of Amalek by Amencha 7Up, Aba, Abia State; Obiegbunam Von, female, 65yrs, of Aba, Abia State;  Ezeoma Rejoice, female, 21yrs, of Aba, Abia State; Ngozi Owoh, female, 20yrs, of Aba, Abia State; Favour Ernest, female, 22yrs, of Aba, Abia State; and Brittney Oyemuwa Zion, male, 22yrs, of Amuoji Uku, Obingwa LGA, Abia State.

    Giving details of the arrest, Isa said “On 27/09/2025 at about 09:40hrs, a complaint was received at Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters that a young woman from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, came to Aba with her two children (male and female) lured by a young man under the guise of marriage.

    “On arrival in Aba, the man asked her to get food for herself and the children while he stayed with the children. On her return, she did not see the man and her children, and all efforts to reach him proved abortive.

    ⁠”Acting on credible and actionable intelligence, officers of the Command on 08/10/2025 stormed a residence where stolen children were suspected to be kept, apprehended five suspects namely: Mrs. Best Ndubusi, Charles Enyinnaya, Eunice Ezekiel, Nnena Kalu, and Gideon Esther, and rescued one infant and seven children.

    “In furtherance of the investigation, on 09/10/2025, officers of the Command, stormed another residence along Aba/Owerri Road where more stolen children were kept. Four suspects namely: Obiegbunam Von, Ezeoma Rejoice, Ngozi Owoh, and Favour Ernest, were arrested and seven infants and three children were rescued.

    “Today, 10/10/2025, officers of the Command apprehended another suspect, Brittney Oyemuwa Zion, and rescued one child. Investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

    “Members of the public in search of their missing or stolen infants/children are advised to visit the Gender Section of the SCID, Abia State Command, or contact the OC Gender via 08033173846”

    Isa reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime,  and ensuring the safety and security of all residents for sustainable socio-economic and political development in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

    He further urged the good people of Abia State to remain security conscious, ensure proper supervision of their wards and children, and promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines.

    The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 12 notorious armed robbers believed to be responsible for the death of an Arise TV staff, Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, and a security guard, Mr. Barnabas Danlami.

    The incident occurred during a robbery incident at Unique Apartment, Gishiri Village, Katampe District, Abuja.

    Recall, President Bola Tinubu directed security agencies to fish out the killers.

    According to a police internal report sighted by our correspondent, it was gathered that the suspects, arrested by operatives of the Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, were tracked through actionable digital and reconstructive intelligence, following a directive by the Commissioner of Police, FCT, to fish out the culprits.

    The robbery occurred on September 29, at about 3:30 a.m.

    The arrested suspects include: Shamsudeen Hassan, from Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State; Hassan Isah, 22, from Zaria, Kaduna State; Abubakar Alkamu (a.k.a. Abba), 27, from Musawa LGA, Katsina State; Sani Sirajo (a.k.a. Dan Borume), 20, from Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State; Mashkur Jamili (a.k.a. Abba), 28, from Igabi LGA, Kaduna State; Suleiman Badamasi (a.k.a. Dan-Sule), 21, from Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State; Abdulsalam Saleh (a.k.a. Na-Durudu), from Katsina LGA, Katsina State; Zaharadeen Muhammad (a.k.a. Gwaska), 23, from Chikun LGA, Kaduna State and Musa Adamu (a.k.a. Musa Hassan), 30, from Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State.

    Others are Sumayya Mohammed (a.k.a. Baby), 27, from Sammaka LGA, Kaduna State; Isah Abdulrahman (a.k.a. Abbati), 25, from Zaria LGA, Kaduna State; and Musa Umar (a.k.a. Small), 31, from Maiduguri LGA, Borno State.

    Police sources said four of the suspects Shamsudeen, Hassan, Alkamu and Sirajo were initially apprehended shortly after the robbery and confessed to their involvement.

    During interrogation, police said Shamsudeen admitted shooting the security guard, Barnabas Danlami, when he tried to stop them from entering the premises, while Sirajo confessed that he tried to hold Maduagwu as she fell from the third floor but was overwhelmed by her weight.

    Shamsudeen further confessed that he drove away the victims’ white Honda CR-V after the operation.

    The suspects revealed that they each received N200,000 from the proceeds of the crime.

    Recovered exhibits from the gang include one fabricated AK-47 rifle, 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, one locally-made pistol, one pump-action gun, two live cartridges, four mobile phones, two sharp knives, one cutlass, and nine torchlights used during the operation.

    The police said further arrests were made on October 8, when operatives acting on intelligence intercepted three of the gang members  including Musa Umar and Hassan Isah while on their way to another planned armed robbery operation in Maitama.

    The report said all the suspects are in custody and have reportedly confessed to the crimes.

    Sources said that Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, commended the Scorpion Squad for their swift action and assured residents that the command would sustain its aggressive operations to rid the FCT of violent criminals.

    Residents of Abuja, police advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious incident.

    When contacted to confirm the report, the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said she is yet to confirm the report, adding that she will  react soon.

    Police arrest 12 suspects over killing of Arise TV Anchor Maduagwu

    Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested 12 suspected armed robbers in connection with the killing of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television.

    Maduagwu, popularly known as Sommie, and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, were killed during a robbery attack at Unique Apartments, a 16-flat building in the Katampe area of Abuja, on September 29.

    In a statement on Wednesday, the command said operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Godfrey, acting on actionable digital and reconstructive intelligence provided by Giga Forensics, a subsidiary of EIB STRATOC, successfully tracked down and arrested the 12 suspects across multiple locations.

    According to the police, four of the suspects, Shamsudeen Hassan, Abubakar Alkamu, Sani Sirajo, and another, were first arrested after the victims’ mobile phones were tracked to them.

    During interrogation, Hassan confessed to shooting the security guard, Danlami, when he attempted to stop the robbers from entering the apartment.

    Sirajo, on his part, admitted trying to prevent Ms. Maduagwu from falling off the three-storey building but said he was “overwhelmed by her weight.”

    Investigators said the suspects also confessed to selling some of the stolen property and sharing the proceeds, with each reportedly receiving ₦200,000.

    Recovered items include fabricated AK-47 rifle, 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, One locally made pistol, one pump-action gun, two live cartridges, four mobile phones belonging to the victims, two sharp knives, one cutlass, nine torchlights used during the operation

    The police further disclosed that, on October 8, acting on another round of digital intelligence, operatives intercepted the remaining members of the gang, including Musa Umar (Small) and Hassan Isah, while they were allegedly on their way to carry out another planned robbery in Maitama, Abuja.

    “All suspects have confessed to the crimes. Investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated,” the statement said.

    The police noted that the photos of the arrested suspects have been withheld to avoid jeopardizing the manhunt for other fleeing gang members.

    The suspects were listed as:
