  • CAC president urges Nigerians to pray for Buhari

    The President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pastor Abraham Akinosun, has urged Nigerians to pray for and support the present administration to succeed.

    He spoke at the weekend at the grand finale of a seven-day fasting and prayer for forgiveness for Nigerians, organised by Signs and Wonders Prayer Ministries, in collaboration with CAC.

    It was held at Ikoyi Mountain, Ero-Omo Village, Osun State.

    The programme tagged: ‘Nigeria must be redeemed’, brought together Christians from denominations.

    It featured prayers, song renditions and prophetic declarations on Nigeria.

    Pastor Akinosun said the need for Nigerians to pray and support the government to succeed is apt, as the nation grapples with unemployment, insecurity, kidnapping and killing by herdsmen.

    He said successive administrations, before assuming office, had good programmes for people, “but it seems as if when they get to power, forces greater than them often frustrate their efforts.”

    The cleric quoted from the scriptures, saying except God builds the house, they labour in vain that build them.

    He enjoined President Muhammadu Buhari to stop herdsmen killings across the country, adding that restructuring the security apparatus would allow

    for fresh idea and strategy to combat insecurity.

    The Oke Osun DCC Superintendent and Chairman/Presiding Pastor, CAC Ori-Oke IIkoyi (Ikoyi Mountain), Pastor Elisha Alalade, said the country’s problems were not political and had nothing to do with leadership, adding that they were spiritual.

    “We have a spiritual battle to rescue the nation.”

    Yari urges Muslims to pray for Buhari

    Zamfara State Governor Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, has urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to pray for quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari currently receiving medical treatment in London.

    Yari made the call at the Democracy Day celebration in Gusau on Monday. He said Muslims should also use the period to pray for leaders.

    He said Buhari’s administration had good mission of change in the country, adding that Nigerians should therefore, pray for him to come back and continue with his good leadership role.

    The governor said that the state government under his leadership in the past six years, spent billions of naira on development projects for the good of the people.

    “I am sure the people of Zamfara have seen the impact of these projects in our socio-economic activities, especially those at the rural communities, in the areas of healthcare, roads, education and agriculture,” he said.

    Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, had described Buhari as “tested and trusted leader”, who came to rescue Nigeria.

    According to him, Buhari has good mission and vision for Nigerians. He is a leader we have never had, and therefore, we should unite and pray for him irrespective of our differences.

    Pray for Buhari’s safe return, Yahaya urges Nigerians

    An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Gombe State and the party’s governorship candidate in the 2015 general elections, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has urged Nigerians not to relent in praying for the safe return of President Mohammadu Buhari from United Kingdom.

    Yahaya who led thousands of Gombe residents to offer prayers to God on behalf of the president during a special prayer session in the state also described prayers as key to success in every human endeavor, regardless of their faiths.

    He said fervent prayers of Nigerians for their leaders at a time like this were strong indications of their patriotism and sincerity of purpose in helping to take the nation to the promise land.

    “President Buhari in the last twenty months at the saddle as president has demonstrated purposeful leadership, hence the need to offer prayers for his wellbeing and that of the nation as a whole.

    “It is our fervent prayer in Gombe for President Mohammadu Buhari’s good health and safe return to Nigeria to continue with his good work for the country.

    “We also hopefully prayed that the president will be steadfast in taking decisions that will better the lives of the downtrodden in our society,” said Yahaya during the event organized by a non-overnmental organization, Community for Peace and Corruption free Society.

    Engr. Ahmed Zakari Nguroje, convener of the event and National Chairman of the Community for Peace and Corrupt free Society, Nigeria said the idea of the special joint prayer session was conceived out of national interest and the patriotic zeal of his group.

    Notable among those who offered prayers for the president were top politicians and traditional rulers led by the Emir of Gombe Dr Abubakar Shehu III represented by Alhaji Lamido Abubakar (Durbin Gombe)

    The General Overseer of Christ Fire World Evangelism Ministries, Prophet Isreal Owonibi, has urged  Christians across the country to commit more time to praying for ailing President Muhammadu Buhari and the nation   to  reduce the hardship plaguing the country.

    He noted that President Buhari is a good leader who wants the best for the nation. “He is a good man, he means well for the nation. Unfortunately, it is the bad people who have corrupted the nation but I strongly believe that God would remove the caterpillars because they want to destroy the pillars for selfish reasons. The level of corruption in the country is quite frightening and we all need to do something about it. This is very important if we want to achieve the desired change.”

    He added:  “There is so much hardship in the land and the worst part of it all is that there is no food. We must pray while government must also think of things to do to bring in more food for our people. We need to pray for our president too and with God his healing would be perfected.

    ‘’These were some of the revelations from the recent three days program tagged: ‘Dealing with the spirit of failure. We had lots of miracles and revelations for the country and God promised to do new things for his people. The Lord also said that we should call Christians to come together and pray. In some of the vision, I saw tension among the people but God is in control.”

    Muslims have been urged to pray to Allah to endow President Muhammadu Buhari wisdom to steer the ship of the country to the shore of success.

    The Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Khamis Badmus said this in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Alhaji Dawood Ajetunmobi.

    Badmus described Ramadan as a month of forgiveness, redemption and mercy to the mankind.

    He added that Ramadan is a time for charity, reflection, contemplation, spiritual renewal, compassion, and service to the less fortunate.

    He called on Muslims to show the true spirit of Islam during the holy month by remembering Nigerians in the North east who are facing immense difficulties and hardship in the hands of Boko Haram sect.

    “We need to offer special prayers to Allah Almighty to alleviate the suffering of our brethren and grant them relief,” he said.

    While acknowledging the fact that this year Rammadan falls at the time there is economic  challenge in the country, he advised Muslims not lose sight of the need to show extraordinary dignity in worshipping Allah and be generous to those in need.
