An inter-denominational prayer was held yesterday in Iwo, Osun State, for the speedy recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The prayers featured Islamic, Christian and traditional clerics.
It was held at the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi.
Personalities at the prayers included the President’s wife, Hajia Aisha Buhari, who was represented by the wife of the Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Mrs. Halimot Alli.
Others include the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Daud Makanjuola, Oyo State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker Musa Abdul-Wasiu, traditional rulers and Iwo chiefs.
Mrs. Buhari expressed gratitude to the Oluwo and others Nigerians for their prayers for her husband.
She called for continued support for the Buhari administration.
The Iwo Muslim community, led by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdulfatai Olododo, who was represented by through Sheik Abdul Mumin, stressed the need for religious tolerance among religious groups.
Iwo Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Caleb Ayoola, as well as Rev. Niyi Akinola, who read from 2 Chronicles 7: 14, noted that God is the utmost healer.

The safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari to the county after his medical vacation in London is God’s answer to prayers for his sound and quick recovery, Adamawa State Governor Mohammed Bindow has said.
The governor spoke through his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Yohanna Mathias with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola yesterday.
Bindow expressed the happiness of the people of Adamawa to the President’s return, adding that the state was the first to organise prayers on Fridays and Sundays for the speedy recovery of Buhari.
He said the success so far recorded by the military against the insurgency in the Northeast was an indication that the President had done a lot for the people of the region and the nation at large.
The governor said God has proved those who peddled rumours of the President’s death wrong with Buhari’s return.
The governor advised the people, who made hate speech their watchword, to desist forthwith, adding that such attitude would not grant them their desires.

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi has given gratitude to God for answering the prayers of the citizens, who have been praying fervently for President Muhammadu Buhari’s safe return of.
A statement by the governor’s Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, quoted Ajimobi as expressing delight in the renewed vigour of the President, which, he said, should reinforce the people’s belief in awesome powers of God.
He called for the continued prayers of the citizens for the well-being of Buhari and leaders at all levels for the country to remain cohesive and return to prosperity and abundance.
Ajimobi said: “I’m delighted that God has answered our prayers now that Mr. President has returned to continue to steer the ship of our great country. All along, I had no doubt in my mind that God will heal our President and renew his strength like the eagle’s.
“His recovery and safe return to the country, hale and hearty, should reinforce the belief of cynics that nothing is impossible with God. He is the giver and taker of life. And no matter how raging the storm may be in our lives, we will only depart this world at God’s appointed time.”
The President’s wife, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has urged Nigerians to be more patriotic and prayerful in the interest of peace and growth of the country.
Mrs. Buhari said this in a goodwill message read by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Dr.Hajo Sani, on yesterday in Abuja.
“I appeal to all Nigerians to show true sense of patriotism for national cohesion to ensure that Nigeria attains the greatness for which it was destined,” she said.
She urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the President’s well-being.
According to the president’s wife, the Sallah celebration is imperative as it marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
“I felicitate with Nigerians and the Muslim Ummah over this opportunity to get closer to Allah,’’ she said.

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara and his constituents, on Saturday offered both Christian and Muslim prayers for the full recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The special prayers were led by Rev. Kefas Galadima, Chairman, Christian Association, (CAN), Dass branch and Sheikh Hamza Dass, at the launching road project in Bogoro/Dass, Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency.
The speaker urged the people to remember the leadership of the country in their daily prayers.
“Please, as you have been told and you know, he has health challenges.
“Pray for the leadership of this country, pray for Vice President, pray for the governors and council chairmen, even when they are not doing well, that God will give them wisdom to improve.
“Pray for them so that they will see themselves to be working for the people,” he said.
The speaker also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for restoring peace and stability in the North East and the nation in general.

Christian leaders need the prayers and godly counsel of members, General Overseer of Christ Word Gospel Church, Pastor Moses Olanrewaju-Bankole, has stated.
He urged Christians to continue to support their leaders with their prayers and godly counsel.
Olarenwaju-Bankole, who spoke with our correspondent recently, said the battle against the church is fierce, requiring Christians supporting their generals.
He said the church will win with godliness and righteousness.
He lamented the wide condemnation of church leaders by Christians in the open, which, according to him, will keep the wounded generals down for enemies to prevail over them.
He noted that Christians of today are not mature.
“When their soldiers get wounded, they kill their soldiers the more.
“Any little rumour about any church leader, Christians are the ones promoting it more even on social media networks.
‘’The more the soldiers are getting more wounded on daily basis, who will now do the work and lead the good fight of faith?”
He added Nigeria will not be a place to live in if not for these men of God who have continued to preach peace, love and togetherness.
The cleric asserted that church leaders are mortals and need rebuke when they err, stating, “we should stand and remain with them until they recover.”
He commended efforts of God’s generals who have continued to draw the hands of God with their prayers and urged them to continue until Nigeria takes its pride of place among the comity of nation.

Primate of The Saviours Ministries C&S Worldwide, Dr Solomon Aluko, has called for ceaseless prayers for Nigeria among Christians.
In a chat with newsmen at the Pro-Cathedral Church, Alausa Lagos, Aluko said the nation needs divine intervention based on the telling suffering of the masses.

The Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State on Thursday offered special prayers for the quick recovery of President Muhamadu Buhari.
The prayer session was conducted at the palace of the Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris.
The Chief Imam of Zaria, Sheik Dalhatu Kasimu, prayed God to grant the president quick recovery.
“Almighty God, we have neither power nor might except what you have bestowed on us. We pray for quick recovery of our president and peaceful co-existence in Nigeria,’’ he prayed.
In his remarks, Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State thanked the emirate for what he described as a good foresight.
El-Rufa’i, who was represented by Alhaji Shehu Bala, the state’s Commissioner for Stakeholders Relations, urged other traditional institutions to emulate the gesture.
Responding, the Emir directed all Juma’at Mosques in the emirate to pray for the president and for peace to prevail in Nigeria.
He appealed to Nigerians to live in peace with one another to foster growth and development across the country.

Sen. Abu Ibrahim (APC- Katsina) on Saturday in Musawa, his home town, organised marathon prayer sessions for President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on medical vacation in London.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the prayers, which were offered in batches, were led by reputable Islamic scholars from 11 local government areas in the senatorial district with thousands of residents in attendance.
Ibrahim, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Police Affairs, said President Buhari needed prayers not only for good health, but for divine guidance and protection as well.
He said as far as the President’s health was concerned, there was no cause for alarm.
He said based on available information, “the President is in high spirits’’.
Ibrahim requested preachers, scholars, school teachers, women and community-based groups to continued to pray for the President.
The senator said he decided to join others to organise the prayers for the President based on his realisation of the need for citizens to continually pray for their leaders.
According to him, the nation is undergoing positive change under Buhari’s leadership.
He said as such, Buhari “needs our encouragement, support and prayers for him to succeed in building a better Nigeria”.
Ibrahim announced a donation of 100 copies of the Holy Qur’an to each of the 11 local government areas in zone to facilitate constant prayers for the President and offered scholarship to 30 children from each local government area in zone.
He also said that he had begun the drilling of 750 wash bores to facilitate irrigation, adding that 750 water pumping machines would be distributed to selected farmers across the 11 local government areas.
The senator said he had provided 82 motorcycles to be distributed to supporters and sewing machines to be distributed to female Islamic school tutors to enhance their capacities.
He added that three persons would be selected from each of the wards in the district to go for skill acquisition training after which they would each be given N20, 000 marching grants.
Ibrahim also inaugurated the treatment of 2,000 persons with eye-related illnesses.
He said 500 of them would get recommended glasses while 300 persons would undergo glaucoma surgery.
According to him, a committee chaired by the Zonal Chairman of APC, Alhaji Bala Abu, would be responsible for equitable distribution of the items donated.
In his remarks, the state governor, Aminu Masari, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Alh. Bello Mandia, applauded the senator for his courage.
He said the state government planned to organise similar prayer sessions for the President in Katsina. (NAN)
