President won’t interfere with ministerial nominees’ probe, says APC chief

President Muhammadu Buhari will not stop investigation into corruption cases against members of his cabinet when constituted, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chief, Senator Lawal Shuaibu, said at the weekend.

Shuaibu, who is the party’s deputy national chairman (North), said in an interview with reporters that corruption investigations against former governors of Rivers and Lagos states – Rotimi Amaechi and Babatunde Raji Fashola – would be carried out in accordance with the law.

The two former governors are part of 21 nominees awaiting screening at the National Assembly.

The APC chief said if corruption investigation against any of the nominees led to conviction in courts, the President would not intervene.

He said: “The president has said several times that he believes in the rule of law and that he respects the rule of the law.

“Anything that is not in line with the constitution and the extant laws of this country, he would not go for it. When it comes to the issue of the choice of people, who will serve as ministers in his administration, I believe that until one is convicted in the law court, we will be chasing shadows on the basis of suspicions and assumptions.

“If he decides to interpret the laws in the case of people facing investigation, I think he is quite free to go ahead with it. I think quite frankly that he is not going to stop any investigations against any member of his cabinet.”

“But should that investigation lead to conviction in courts, I assure you that even before the President will ask them to resign, such a person would have brought a letter of resignation. The president cannot intervene in a matter before the court on behalf of anybody, including his own child.”

On the allegation that Buhari was biased in his approach to the anti-corruption crusade, Shuaibu said: “What did you expect the president to do? Buhari has made it clear, even during his interview in New York, when he said he would not be interfering with judicial process or procedures and he would wait to see when a court makes a decision on anyone.”

President visits survivors of Abuja explosions

President Muhammadu Buhari was at the hospital yesterday to comfort survivors of Friday night’s bomb attacks on Nyanya and Kuje in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

The survivors are at the Trauma Centre of the National Hospital, Abuja. President Buhari wished them full and speedy recovery.

The President, in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, also reassured the survivors that the Federal Government will settle their medical bills.

He directed his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, to settle the N268,790.00 medical bill of a young girl in the Paediatric Ward of the hospital.

The girl’s mother, Deborah Stephen, broke into tears on seeing President Buhari.

She told him that her daughter was shot by armed robbers who raided their home and that the family could not afford the medical bills.

President Buhari, who was accompanied by his personal aides and Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, visited the intensive care unit, the paediatric unit and general ward.

Chief Medical Director Dr Jafaru Momoh, said the visit would help the patients’ recovery by giving them a greater psychological sense of being valued and loved by their country.

  • If I were President Buhari

President Buhari can rightly be described as a lucky and committed man who worked himself to a right position at the right time. When the going gets tough, they say, the tough gets going.

The words “commitment and luck”are responsible for the exalted position he occupies today. But President Buhari is not the only lucky man in Nigeria or the only politician who had persisted in their quest to occupy the Presidency of the country. The late Aminu Kano, Alhaji Waziri, MKO Abiola and several others never accomplished their dreams of becoming the nation’s president. Even the most revered Chief Obafemi Awolowo asked to be made president “even for a day”. The former occupant of the office, Goodluck Jonathan, was not only lucky but had the word “luck” embedded in his first name. Yet he failed. Buhari’s commitment, hard work, integrity and tenacity of purpose had won him and the APC a Pan-Nigerian success that money and ordinary luck could not buy. How I wish they would realise this?

Success is one thing, and management of success is another. The question in everyone’s lips since the inception of this administration has been whether the Buhari government and the APC can successfully manage their success?

In answering this question two things come to mind. One is the gargantuan expectation of Nigerians; two, is the capacity and stuff of the man called Buhari.

No doubt, even the enemies of Buhari, including the opposition admit the impeccability and integrity of the man called Buhari which unfortunately, has placed so much burden on him. Burden ranging from high level corruption, ineptitude, favouritism, terrorism, growing youth unemployment, the crashing naira and oil price that breakdances, battered economy that lies unto itself,  social disequilibrium, political brouhaha, religious turmoil to disenchanted citizenry. Our own dear native land was comatose, a near failed nation state that lost her bearing in regional leadership of the continent. Therefore, the need, and urgently too, to re-claim our country from captives and re-launch her as a regional force and leader in the world map cannot be over-emphasised. Depending on the path he chooses to tread, President Buhari would go down in the annals of history as that leader to whom so much was given and so much gotten. Or forever be despised as that man who lost a wonderful opportunity to write his name in gold. The leader that failed to place Nigeria on a pedestal of growth and reckoning. God forbid.

If I were President Buhari, I will be wary of praise singers. I will run from those with the penchant to clap saints to hell. That is the easiest way to lose integrity. Consequently, I will apply the four way test in all that I do. I will ensure that I am fair to all irrespective of colour, race, sex, religion or class. I will strictly abide by section 14(3) of the 1999 constitution as amended in my appointments, be they “personal” or constitutional. These saints falling from monasteries clapped your predecessors and indeed the nation to this pitiable situation we are in today.

I will be creative and think out of the box for these are not normal times. Finding a lasting solution to the leadership as well as structural question of Nigeria would occupy me. I will restructure the country. I will introduce executive bills that seek to abolish the state structure and return the country into a six regional structure. I will scrap the House of Representative as presently constituted and return the country into a unicameral legislature made up of 18 members only. This will be three per region. The House of Representative upon its abolition would be replaced by a 36 member House of Speakers drawn from the various regions that would sit on part-time basis. Only sitting allowances will be paid. I will strengthen the local governments to become the engine and centres of development and excellence. The advantage of this module of governance are three folds: Nigeria will no longer spend over 70% of her earnings on recurrent. There will be massive even development of the grass-root aided by quality representation. I will further unbundle the Federal Government by reducing the number of ministries to six. They are, Finance, External Affairs, Defence, Internal Affairs, Justice and Works. I will merge or abolish or transfer most parastatals to the regions or under these six broad ministries. Duplication of ministries and parastatals and some quasi institutions are nothing but a drain pipe.

I have continued to wonder what business the Federal Government should have with a road in my village called federal road, or what she is doing with agriculture at my backyard or primary education at my village square, or health or aviation without a single plane? Or their duplicate copies called transport or trade and investment or tourism or the whopping other 48 ministries and ministers that are nothing but drain pipes. Since all federal roads are in wards and local governments, I will transfer all roads to states.

I will introduce resource control. Introduction of the resource control policy will among others place wealth on the doorstep of every region and food on every Nigerian table. This would engender hard work, commitment, employment, reduce corruption and ignite competition. This means wealth distribution as every region will run their affairs, control their resources and contribute 30% to the Federal Government. Every region will utilize 70% of their God-given resource to develop their region at their own pace. This in-turn would mean, less attractive centre, less corrupt regions and rapidly developed grassroots.

I will introduce anti-trust law. No individual or company shall invest more than 25% in any sector of the economy. If we must regulate our economic activities, at all, it must be holistic.

The Army and Police, Immigration and Customs shall remain in the hands of the Federal Government as the ombudsman and as a symbol of unity. This will gradually thin off after 50 years.

I will fight corruption. In fighting corruption, I will carry out a dissection cum anatomy of corruption in Nigeria and Nigerians to enable me arrive at a lasting solution. First I will ensure that I am ready, willing and able to fight corruption. Two, I will acquit or condemn myself. For he who goes to equity must do so with clean hands. With this done, I will proceed to prosecute all persons who had looted the treasury, aided and/or abetted corruption.

The anatomy of Nigeria’s crime and criminality will reveal that Nigeria is many countries in one country. The urge to amass wealth and the greed to steal-to -conquer is huge and unprecedented. The anatomy will also reveal that it is not questionable that every Nigerian is endangered specie perpetually under the jackboot of government impunity. This makes him hostile to the nation and loyal to himself and himself alone. The restructuring or unbundling or devolution of powers would restore sanity, hope and freedom to our system, re-ignite spirit of patriotism, and sense of belonging. The problem with Nigeria hitherto is that she has been one big no man’s orchard where people mercilessly pluck fruits that allegedly belong to no one. The conspiracy among persons, groups and regions to steal the country blind would be drastically reduced under a regional government. Tendency is for all to be watchers of all under a common patrimony. Then and only then would people see stealing from a common prism of evil and crime which must be condemned. The temptation to join in the looting of a no-man’s cake would be drastically reduced; just as in its defence. Such terminologies as witch-hunt, nepotism and marginalization would vanish from our vocabulary. We shall be our brother’s keeper indeed. The ripple effect of power devolution is not only monumental but the requisite antidote to wipe away large scale corruption, idleness, greed and nepotism. It is also a lasting solution to unemployment, general economic rejuvenation, and one with capacity to diminish ethnic jingoism and up the political ante.

I will strengthen the structures of government and regulate government personnel and make them truly independent and accommodating. No Nigerian will hold further positions after serving for 10 years. In this era of unemployment where life expectancy has been reduced to less than 40, it is criminal for our parents to keep recycling themselves in power to the detriment of our youths. Consequently, I will introduce a two-term structure in all elective and appointive positions. All governors who had served for two terms, for instance, should retire to private sector life. Maximum tenure in the Senate, House of Representative, Presidency, and State Assembly will be eight years and without migrating to other arms of government. Aspirants to public office must choose a path. All public officers should return to the society they have made. All serving officers must resign six months to an election as a qualifying condition. This will drastically reduce the level of impunity at elections aided by state goons. I will not appoint the Chief Justice of Nigeria or Chief Judge of a state. The Inspector General of Police would be appointed by the Police Service Commission, the chairman of INEC by the National Judicial Commission. The same organ will appoint the Chief Justice of Nigeria and other judges.

I will scrutinize and redress injustices meted out to Nigerians by government. It is not all Nigerians that have innate unpatriotic tendencies. The Nigerian state has knocked down so many Nigerians and companies and helped to nurture several unpatriotic acts of Nigerians.  Like General Idi Amin of Uganda once said, “In Africa, each time there is a change of guard, heads must roll”. In Nigeria, heads do not only roll each time there is change of government but each time there is erratic change of policies.

I will not be a Buhari that would feed Nigerians with scorpion when fish is desired in abundance. I will strive to remain a Buhari who followed due process, rule of law and justice. I will be a Buhari who came, saw the problems of Nigerians and conquered them all. Happy independence.

  • New president for Rotary

    New president for Rotary

The Rotary Club of Gbagada has sworn in its new President, Otunba Olusola Adenuga-Taiwo, a retired banker and lawyer.

The event was historical in many ways–the celebrator’s father; the late Sir Gabriel Osiola Adenuga-Taiwo was a founding member and later President of Rotary Club while his mother Chief (Mrs) Arinola Adenuga-Taiwo, who attended the event, was a District Chairman, Inner Wheel of the old District 911. Adenuga-Taiwo recalled that Rotary was formed in his presence, though he did not join it then.

Besides, a Saturday before the event, the new President celebrated his 64th birthday.

White and green were the colours of the ceremony, which held at the Events Centre, near Afrika Shrine, Ikeja. While the men wore Agbada, which they topped with green caps, the women put on white buba (native wrapper) and crowned it with green head gears. But the President looked gorgeously different as he wore a multi-coloured aso-oke and a pair of glasses.

Chairman on the occasion, Dr Michael Olawale-Cole, who spoke on the vanity of man, noted the futility of life, saying the best legacy one can leave behind on earth is to serve God and humanity, adding that Rotary provides the platform for this service. He warned, quoting from the Bible, that no one takes anything from this world.

He, therefore, enjoined all to serve God with their possessions, saying that “this is what Rotary says is to share and give’’. He also quoted from the Koran to buttress his point.

Olawale-Cole, a former District Governor of Rotary, advised his colleagues “to be active and committed to Rotary. There is a great joy to be part of service, the challenges of the times, notwithstanding’’.

Rotary’s District 9110 Governor Otunba Bolaji Onabadejo also harped on service, saying it was ordained by God.

“Some defined serve as the rent you pay in life. It is putting everything you have at the service of people–talent and money, among other things. We are supposed to do serve. Since 1905, Rotary has been wiping some tears and eradicating diseases. Since 1985, Rotary has been fighting polio,’’ he said. He enjoined others to join the club and come “let us do service’’. He described the new President as world-class and, therefore, capable.

The outgoing President, Prof. Kayode Taiwo gave its team an excellent mark in performance. He listed these as the chartering of new clubs, induction of new members and renovation of the science laboratory of a school in Ago Iwoye in Ogun State. He canvassed support for his successor.

Adenuga-Taiwo, whose wife Olufunke attended the event, promised to execute the following projects–renovation of the Ajeroju Primary School in Oworonsoki, Lagos; continuation of its scholarship scheme in SOS Village, Isolo, Lagos; maternal and child care, water and sanitation scheme in Ibipe Community Health Centre at Ago Iwoye, poverty alleviation, micro-credit scheme and Rotary Foundation.  He later raised funds for the programmes.

At the event, Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, Mr Federick Taiwo Lakanu; Chief Charles Ike Uwechie and Sir Abuiodun Ogunkoya, retired management consultant, were honoured.

President free to pick ministers, says APC

    •Fresh Bayelsa primary today

President Muhammadu Buhari is free to pick his ministers, his party said yesterday.

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun said the party trusts the President’s judgment.

Buhari is expected to send the names of his ministers to the Senate for confirmation latest tomorrow. Speaking after a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, Odigie-Oyegun said:  ”We know that the President will do what he needs to do. What happened or did not happen between us and the President is a matter for the party as a family. It is a family affair, but he will do what he needs to do, when he needs to do it. You can trust him on that.”

He also promised that the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) would soon be inaugurated. “You know that we have been pretty busy, but I want to assure you that it will soon be inaugurated.”

Odigie-Oyegun announced the decision to fix another Bayelsa State governorship primary for today in Yenagoa.

He spoke to reporters after the meeting which was briefed by Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, the chair of the panel that organised last week’s primary, which was cancelled.

With Odigie-Oyegun at the briefing were Deputy Chairman (North), Lawal Shuaibu, Deputy Chairman (South), Chief Segun Oni, National Vice Chairman (Southsouth), Primce Hillaard Etta, National Publicity Secretary Lai Mohammed and National Women Leader Hajia Ramatu Tijanni Ali

The chairman said: “The main issue that occupied us today at the NWC meeting has to do with the Bayelsa governorship primary. We want to make it very clear that as a party, the APC guides very jealously its record of free and fair primary.

“The NWC sees it as a duty to provide a level playing ground for all those who aspire to offices in this party. Unfortunately, in Bayelsa State, we had serious security challenges and so, the process could not meet the standard which this party has set for itself.

“So, we had no alternative than to stop the process by ensuring that the chairman of the panel is effectively moved out of the venue with the help of security agencies. We decided thereafter that there should be a proper fresh primary.

“So today, the party decided and we have written to INEC appropriately that the party has decided to conduct fresh primary for the Bayelsa governorship election, beginning tomorrow. So, the process for fresh primary will begin tomorrow.

“We are getting in touch with the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to please assist us by ensuring effective security.

“Let me make one thing clear. The issue of who is candidate or not is not the issue here. That is not what is in consideration because it can be any of the 19 aspirants that obtained the form to contest that election.

“But for the APC, the party of change, it is essential that in party processes, elections within the party are also seen to be free, fair, totally above board and without any form of force. That is what we hope to achieve beginning from tomorrow. The venue remains Yenagoa because by law, you cannot change the venue because that is part of the electoral Act.”

On whether the party plan to discipline members who announced the result of the primary in disregard of the guideline, the chairman said. “We sent people to do a job and it got to a situation where they had reasons to fear for their safety – rightly or wrongly. Anything that anybody does in such a situation to keep body and soul in one piece is welcome.”

On the alleged plan by Timiprieye Silva to challenge the decision of the party in court and the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, Odigie-Oyegun said: “That is what the courts are for. We will cross that bridge when we get there. The Saraki issue is in court and I will not want to say one word about it”

Speaking on security for the fresh primary, the chairman said: “They say once beaten, twice shy. I am not a security man; I am not a security expert. But I am sure that the IGP is fully abreast with with what happened that day as well as what can be done and need to be done to avoid a repetition and we trust his judgement.”

    •Alleges persecution by political opponents

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, yesterday expressed dismay at the Code of Conduct Tribunal’s order for his arrest.

He also alleged persecution by those he said were using state institutions to fight their political opponents and seeking to achieve through the back door what they cannot get through democratic process.

In a statement released in Abuja, Saraki said his dismay stemmed from the fact that the tribunal disregarded an earlier order by the Federal High Court in Abuja suspending hearing in the case till Monday.

He said it was also a surprise that in spite of Saraki’s personality and an application by his lead counsel that he would produce him on Monday, the Tribunal insisted on issuing a warrant of arrest as if it was out to embarrass the Senate President.

The statement, which was signed by Senator Saraki’s Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, reads: “Following the development in the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) today, Friday, September 18, 2015 when the Tribunal chose to ignore the subsisting order of a Federal High Court by sitting, we hereby state our position as follows:

“While the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has stated and maintains that he is ready to submit himself to due process of the law on any issue concerning him, he also believes he has an inalienable right to resort to the same judiciary for protection when he feels his fundamental rights are about to be infringed upon.

“It is for this reason that Dr. Saraki, having satisfied himself that the case filed by the CCB and the manner in which the case was filed show that he will not be given justice, resorted to the Federal High Court for the determination of the issues of competence of the prosecutor as well as compliance with the procedure stipulated in the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.

“The Federal High Court on Thursday, September 17, 2015, therefore ordered that all parties in the case should appear before it on Monday, September 21, 2015. The implication of this ruling by a Court of competent jurisdiction is that the sitting today has been overtaken by event. It is for this reason that Dr. Saraki chose to go about his normal official schedule.

“Today at the Tribunal, Counsel to the Senate President, Mr. M. A. Mahmud (SAN), raised a motion stating that there is a pending constitutional matter before the Federal High Court to be decided on Monday and that the Tribunal should hold the trial until the constitutional matter is disposed of.

“We are however dismayed that the Tribunal chose to disregard the order of the Federal High Court and the motion to suspend hearing till Monday when all parties are expected to argue their positions on the constitutional matter.

“It is also a surprise to us that despite the application by the lead counsel to the Senate President that he will produce Dr. Saraki on Monday and the personality of the person involved as the number three man in the country, the Tribunal insisted on issuing a warrant of arrest as if its intention is simply to embarrass Dr. Saraki.

“We are not unmindful of the fact that the Tribunal is acting under political influence and external pressure. This is dangerous to our democracy.

“The conduct of the Tribunal today left nobody in doubt that it cannot do justice on the matter before it.

“It is also clear that today’s decision is an abuse of the rule of law which portends danger to our judicial system.

“The Tribunal has equally set a bad precedent in the way and manner it conducted itself during the proceedings.

“We want to emphasise the fact that this is not part of any war against corruption but using state institutions to fight political opponents and seeking to achieve through the back door what some people cannot get through democratic process.

“We need to caution here that in a desperate bid to settle political scores and nail imaginary enemies, we should not destroy our democratic institutions and heat the polity for selfish reasons.

“Let us all learn from history.”

  • APC chieftain commends President, Ambode

President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwummi Ambode, have been commended for their great achievements during their first 100 days in office.

Speaking to journalists at an event in Agbado Oke Odo Local Council Development Area, a chieftain of the All Progressives Party (APC), Mr. Bola Adeyemi Smart, said the duo started well.

He urged the people and lawmakers to co-operate with them so that they could make Nigeria a great country.

According to him, the restructuring of the LASTMA and other positive steps embarked upon by the Ambode administration indicated that he meant well for the state

He commended Buhari  on his battles against corruption, saying that his efforts would bring about a new Nigeria which will be the pride of everybody.

The assets declaration by President Buhari and his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo and the slashing of their salaries have shown the way for other political office holders, including  lawmakers.

  • VGC Rotary gets ‘world-class’ president

    VGC Rotary gets ‘world-class’ president

The Rotary Club of Garden City, Lagos has a new president, reports JOSEPH JIBUEZE

To serve in selflessness”. Those words form part of the Rotary invocation. New President of the Rotary Club of Victoria Garden City, District 9110, Nigeria, Tony Eigbokhan, an architect, has vowed to abide by those words during his tenure. His investiture as the club’s 19th president took place last Saturday. Venue of the event oozed class. Yellow, sky blue and white drapes hung round the beautifully decorated hall. Tables were covered with yellow cloths, with colourful flowers placed on them. Lights blinked behind the elevated table where the VIPs sat.

The call to order by the outgoing president, Christopher Anyakorah, was followed by a recital of the Rotary grace/invocation, the Four-Way Test; singing of the Rotary songs and fundraiser/raffle draw.

Eigbokhan, a former Head of Property Department at Zenith Bank Plc and who resigned as Senior Manager at Keystone Bank to found Projectmate International Limited, a firm of building consultants, said was prepared for the position and would do his bit for humanity’s cause. “I’ve been mentally prepared  for the position. I’ll give my best to this club,” he said.

On what he will do differently, he told reporters after his investiture: “I’ve asked the committee members to come up with their projects and take ownership. Mine is to ensure they are executed. I’ve attended over 10 trainings organised by the district, as well as exchanges in US, Canada and Portugal. So, I’m prepared. The project so dear to my heart is classroom renovation at Sangotedo primary school which had no roof, doors or windows and children sit on their sides to the wall facing the board.”

He also intends to pursue projects on hospitals support/equipment, education support including provision of at least 5,000 dictionaries to pupils, youth empowerment, among others.

A former Minister of Works, Dr Mike Onolememen, represented by Felix Imoisili, a lawyer, who chaired the event, said the government can learn from the manner Rotary clubs change their leaderships across the world without acrimony.

“If leadership was about service to the people, and the purpose of government was the pursuance of happiness for the greater majority of the people, then bellicosity – and in fact war – should have no place in our nation’s polity. Clearly, in this regard, political leaders in Nigeria have so much to learn from Rotary Club,” he said.

The guest speaker, former Liberty Bank Managing Director Chief Lawanson Omokhodion, who spoke on threats to the family system, said no matter how tough it is to survive, families must put God first, make sacrifices to be together, develop a spirit of forgiveness, avoid indulging children too much, teach young ones values and warn them of dangers of the internet and the need to avoid all forms of immorality.

At the event were members of the club, its former presidents, including former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Joseph Sanusi (who served from 2012-2013, Olugbega Obasa (2005-2006), Victor Anorue (2009-2010), among others.

  • Daring the President

It would have been unimaginable for anyone to disobey or delay in complying with the directive of the military regime of General Muhammadu Buhari, who was the Head of State in 1984.

His wrath will even be more for any Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA) that flout such directive then.

But today because of the democratic environment of President Buhari’s administration, some MDAs have hesitated in complying with a dully issued directive of the government.

To block corrupt loopholes exploited by some politicians and civil servants to beat the system, President Buhari in a circular dated August 7, 2015 directed the payment of all Federal Government revenue into a Treasury Single Account (TSA).

But either for their dubious reasons to continue to siphon government revenue to private pockets or just stalling to see if the government will relax the directive as time goes on, some MDAs refused to obey the circular one month after it was issued.

President Buhari, who was irked by the refusal of the MDAs to comply with the directive, on last Monday, last week issued one week deadline for all the MDAs to comply with the directive.

They are all expected to comply with the directive latest by today or face sanctions from the government.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari has set a deadline of Tuesday, September 15, 2015 for full compliance with his directive that all revenue due to the Federal Government or any of its agencies must be paid into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) or designated accounts maintained and operated in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), except otherwise expressly approved.

“A circular issued to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Danladi Kifasi, urged the MDAs to ensure strict compliance with the deadline to avoid sanctions.

“The circular – HCSF/428/S.1/125 of September 4, 2015 – noted that a number of MDAs were yet to comply with Circular Ref. No. HCSF/428/S.1/120 of August 7, 2015 which conveyed President Buhari’s original directive on the payment of all Federal Government revenue into a Treasury Single Account.

“In this regard, His Excellency, Mr. President has directed that all MDAs are to comply with the instructions on the Treasury Single Account (TSA) unfailingly by Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

“Heads of MDAs and other arms of Government are enjoined to give this Circular the widest circulation and ensure strict compliance to avoid sanctions,” it stated.

This is just a wake-up call for all Nigerians, especially in the civil service, to queue behind the anti-corruption drive of the President as Nigeria, in the long-run, will be better for it.
