    Sanwo-Olu celebrates veteran journalist Osiyemi at 75 

    Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated veteran journalist, politician, and community leader, Prince Bayo Osiyemi on his 75th birthday, commending his significant contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State, particularly in the media industry. 

    In a heartfelt message shared on his X handle, Sanwo-Olu described Prince Osiyemi as: “worthy of celebration not only for his contributions to Lagos State’s growth and development, especially in the media industry, but also for displaying exceptional skills and talent as a seasoned practitioner in journalism, public relations, and advertising.”

    Highlighting Prince Osiyemi’s illustrious career, the governor noted his outstanding service in various capacities, including as Chief Press Secretary to the late Governor Lateef Jakande, Editor of Lagos News, Chief Executive of Penby Communications, Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area, and Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Matters to the current administration. 

    “He displayed leadership and administrative excellence in every position he occupied,” the governor added. 

    Sanwo-Olu concluded his message by wishing Prince Osiyemi continued good health and longevity. 

    “I wish him good health and many more years of service to God and humanity. May the years ahead bring him joy, fulfillment, and continued impact in all his endeavors.”

    …commends his lifetime of service

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated veteran journalist, politician, and community leader, Prince Bayo Osiyemi on his 75th birthday, commending his lifetime of dedication to public service, democracy, and media excellence.

    Popularly known as the “Charming Prince,” Osiyemi has had a distinguished career spanning journalism, governance, and political leadership. 

    He previously served as the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State’s first civilian governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande (1979–1983), and as Chairman of Mushin Local Government, where he played a pivotal role in the council’s development.

    In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu highlighted Osiyemi’s lasting contributions to Lagos, particularly his leadership within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his efforts in advancing democracy and good governance.

    “As a former Chairman of Mushin Local Government, he laid the foundation for the council’s growth, thus advancing the state’s development,” Tinubu noted.

    The President also acknowledged Osiyemi’s role as Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Matters to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, where he strengthened government relations with traditional rulers, fostering smooth cooperation between the administration and the state’s monarchs.

    Celebrating the media veteran’s impact on journalism and public relations in Nigeria, Tinubu joined family, friends, and associates in honouring the septuagenarian.

    “May the Almighty God grant him many more years of vitality, joy, and fulfilment as he continues to inspire future generations,” the President said.
