    Yuletide: Epe gifts food items to residents

    The Chairman of Epe Local Government Council Area, Princess Surah Animashaun, has gifted the residents food items, chickens, and cash to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

    The initiative, according to her, aimed at alleviating financial burden many families faces during the festive season.

    The event which was held at the council Secretariat, Ita-Marun, Epe, attracted hundreds of women, artisans, vulnerable households and others across the eight wards and communities of the local government council area.

    “Indeed, it is a Christmas outreach, which cut across wards and communities and it is aimed at cushioning economic pressures and reaffirming the present administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.

    “As you can see, market women, artisans, the elderly people, and vulnerable households are among beneficiaries, as the initiative brings smiles and renewed hope to many homes,” Princess Animashaun said.

    She emphasised that Christmas is a season of love, sharing and unity, noting that no resident of Epe should be left behind during such a significant celebration.

    She also emphasised the importance of supporting one another, especially during challenging times, adding that the initiative was part of her effort to uplift women, artisans, and vulnerable people in the council.

    She said that the gesture further reflects her administration’s willingness and tradition of inclusive leadership and responsive governance, strengthening the bond between the government and the people.

    The Chairman, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun, has said she would continue to engage, interact and communicate with youths to achieving the set desired goals and programmes.

    Princess Animashaun said the council has been engaging youths across different sectors to get them involved in how things are run in the council.

    She reiterated commitment to providing youths with ‘cutting-edge’ facilities and technology, thereby empowering them to reach their full potentials, including the desire to drive innovation and growth.

    “Indeed, it is imperative to equip our youths for future enduring transformation, legacy and involve them in good governance that will guarantee their interests in government policymaking and contribute their quota in the council growth and development,” Princess Animashaun said.

    The council boss explained that the interactive session with youths aimed to build the capacity of young leaders and inspire them to be better leaders, noting that this is one of the strategies adopted by the council to equip the youth population with relevant skills and knowledge for relevance as potential future leaders.

    “In fact, the meeting with council youths will expose their policy thrust and harmonise their programmes with the plans of the youths and jointly position council on a unified pedestal, where both council and youths actualise their interests,” she stated.

    According to her, lots of council youths had been previously engaged in policy formulation and implementation in various functions and capacities, highlighting that some of them hold key positions under the current administration, and many others have been empowered.

    The Epe Local Government Council Chairman, Princess Surah Animashaun has flagged off the rehabilitation of several strategic township roads in Epe LG council area to ease movement of persons and goods within the metropolis.

     Animashaun, who disclosed this at a press briefing ceremony to kick start work at the Etitun, Nitel-Odubote and Ajagannabe roads, said that the council had identified several key roads within the town and its suburbs that were in dire need of repairs and decided to commence work on its rehabilitation immediately.

     She said that the project would mark another significant milestone in her administration’s commitment to modernising Epe’s infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents, business owners and motorists.

     The Chairperson noted that the projects beyond enhancing smooth vehicular movement and boosting commercial activities, but would also tackle the long-standing issues of flooding in the area, and ensuring a more durable and safer road network.

     “This road from Etitun, NITEL-Odubote, and Ajagannabe, roads are key roads and we need to put it in good shape. This will make the flow of traffic easy and will take off the unnecessary gridlock that we experience around here most times.

    2027: LG boss predicts landslide victory for Tinubu

    The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election with a landslide.

    Animashaun maintained that the victory was already guaranteed considering the superlative performances of Mr. President so far, especially in repositioning the country’s economy and others.

    The chairperson made this known while briefing newsmen at the council secretariat, Ita-Marun, Epe, after the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu to contest for a second term in office in 2027, on Tuesday, October 21 at a stakeholders’ forum, held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

    She said that the stakeholders’ meeting was to engage the Nigerians, especially, the Lagosians to mobilise the people on the importance of the 2027 general elections and for the people to get registered in the ongoing voter registration.

    Animashaun, who highlighted several socio-economic and security reforms within the last two years, noted that President Tinubu inherited an economy that was in comatose and expressed appreciation that the country is now on the path of prosperity.

    She urged Nigerians, Lagosians, as well as Epe residents to have faith in the APC-led administration, pointing out that as challenging as it may look for the common man, very soon, it will translate to improved welfare for the people.

    Animashaun called on Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration to get registered, maintaining that their votes are their power, saying that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

    She lauded the leadership of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the state for following in the footsteps of the president, saying that, thus far, Lagos state has been repositioned for good governance and development.

    Epe chair sponsors summer coaching

    The Chairman, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun, has distributed books and other writing materials to students in her council area at the ongoing free summer lessons she organised for them.

    She made the distribution during the kick-off of the summer lesson on Monday.

    According to her, the programme would run simultaneously across four strategic learning centres; which include St. Theresa Primary School, St. Michael Primary School, Community Primary School, Erepoto, and Zumuratu Islamia Primary School, all within Epe Local Government Area of the state.

    Princess Animashaun explained that the free summer lessons for students across all the wards of the council were initiated to encourage youths to take education as an important tool for development.

    She noted that education remains one undefeated tool to liberate the mind of the upcoming generation and to set them on a path that they would be fit to take on the challenges of life as well as devise solution to life issues ranging from finance, technology, health, governance and other facets of life.

    While describing education as the key to the future, the Chairperson urged the students to take education seriously to their own advantage and national development.

    She said: “This programme is designed to keep young minds actively engaged during the holiday period, reinforce their academic foundation, boost their confidence, and prepare them for excellence in the forthcoming academic session.

    “So, we encourage parents and guardians to take full advantage of this golden opportunity by ensuring their wards attended the centre nearest to them. Together, let us continue to lay the groundwork for an enlightened, capable, and responsible generation.”

    She, however, called for more government investment in education, just as she appealed to corporate and private organisations to also join hands with the government to move the sector forward.

    “I believe education is the most important tool you can receive, that can bring you most success in society today. Education lessens the challenges you would face in life.

    “The more knowledge you gain, the more opportunities will open up to allow individuals to achieve better positions in career and personal growth,” she said.

    The Chairman of Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun, has promised to perform better in her second term in office.

    Princess Animashaun made the pledge during the kick-off of her second term campaign at her office in Epe area of Lagos State.

    She noted that her administration had put in place programmes, strategies, and policies for the betterment of the people in the local government area of the state.

    “In our first term, we worked tirelessly to improve infrastructure, enhance healthcare, empower our youth, and ensure reliable services at every corner of the council. These achievements are a testimony of our commitment to make Epe a place of comfort, opportunity, and shared purpose for all of us.

    “As we are working towards a second term in office, let us embrace hope, hard work, and unity. Together, we will continue strengthening our communities, creating opportunities, and making the council we are all proud to call home.

    “This will present us with an opportunity to reflect on the strides we have made together and to renew our commitment to building a prosperous, united, and thriving Epe LG as well as strengthening communities by creating more opportunities for growth and development,” Princess Animashaun added. She said despite facing great economic uncertainty and limited resources, her administration weathered the challenges to post a good performance, noting that she had transformed the health sector and ensured accessible, efficient, affordable, and high-quality services, despite  paucity of funds.

    Princess Animashaun’s administration has completed new health care facilities and refurbished existing ones to improve health care provision across all the eight wards, and the council has also witnessed the construction of several culverts, and drainages, maintained several kilometres of drainage, and constructed additional networks.

    The council boss reiterated that her leadership was committed to the provision of social amenities for all the residents, adding that her administration did various projects which included drilling of boreholes, construction of classrooms, rehabilitation of roads, drainages, and the construction of staff quarters at the local government secretariat.

    She said the council has great potential and opportunities to create jobs for youth and other residents, promising to continue improving access to healthcare and water, support agriculture, and strengthen the cooperative movement.

    “Indeed, I am going to lead a dedicated team in the local government council in ensuring that we position our economy to grow quickly,” she said.

    Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State Chairman, Princess Surah Animashaun, has restated her desire to transform the council area and make it a shining light among the comity of councils in the state.

    The Chairperson made this commitment at a meeting with the staff members and management , at the council chamber, secretariat, Ita-Marun, after her emergence at the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

    Animashaun assured the people that she would continue to explore all means in lighting up Epe, other major cities, both inland and highland areas within the council metropolis.

    “We shall get to the promised land. Never again will you see Epe being dirty. The council will not be out of electricity again, Epe will never go dark again. There will be a regular power supply. I am going to rule with the fear of God,” the Chairman promised.

    She urged the people to cultivate the habit of support in any capacity they find themselves, urging staff members and management  to join hands with her to develop the council.

    “Indeed, we should not ask for what the council will do for us, but we must continue to ask for what you can do for the Epe Local Government. All hands must be on deck to move Epe council forward. Both the staff and management must join hands with me to move Epe LG to the promised land.

    “We must ensure that the council is clean. I want everywhere in Epe LG to be clean. I want other councils to be jealous of Epe council. From now henceforth, I will be paying unscheduled visits to offices for an interactive session and ways to move the council forward”, the Chairperson declared.

    Animashaun further gave an assurance of her administration fulfilling APC agenda and campaign promises while she is steadfast in her resolve to take Epe council to the promised land.

    Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Omolara Ajarat Ayeola, said that the staff and management of the council were enthusiastic for the Chairperson emergence as the APC Chairmanship flagbearer in the forthcoming local government elections.

    “In fact, we all thank God for what He has done and committing the affairs of the council under the able leadership of the incumbent Chairperson, Princess Surah Animashaun, to the hands of God in the last four years.

    “We are here today to seek the face of God as we pursue the APC agenda of the administration. This is because the administration is set to deliver on its mandate in the overall interest of our people.

    “I must emphasise that, for the administration to meet the yearnings and aspirations of our people, the staff has a lot to do, being the engine room of government. Incidentally, as the Chairman often says, this government is the government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

    “Towards this end, I wish to humbly charge all staff and management to work assiduously towards shoring up the revenue accruing to the council internally so that all can be well. This is the minimum we can do to support the Chairman, who has made the welfare of workers a top priority of her government.”

    Easter: Epe Council boss felicitates Christians

    The Chairperson, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun has urged Nigerians, Lagosians and Epe indigenes to continue being confident and believe strongly in the efforts at making the country, Lagos and Epe council great.

    In her Easter message, the Chairperson noted that the season reminds humanity that the Almighty God can turn unpleasant situations round for good.

    Recognising that Easter is about renewed hope and a glorious future, Princess Animashaun maintained that it has been a rare privilege for her to serve as Chairman of the Council from 2021 to 2025.

    She advised Epe residents and Nigerians to celebrate the season with family members, neighbours and community members, in love, showing kindness, and forgiveness.

    She noted that the two great events in the Christian calendar – Good Friday and Easter, symbolise the triumph of good over evil, and prays that the season awakens in Christians, the spirit of dedication to public good and selfless service to the nation.

    According to her, the period should herald a rebirth and healing of the country and Epe in general, emphasising the need to use the period to pray for the success of the incoming local government election, scheduled for July, 12 this year.

    Princess Animashaun urged Epe residents, particularly Christians to emulate Jesus Christ’s virtues of humility, perseverance and compassion, which made Him die on the cross for the atonement of our sins and reconciling us with God.

    The Chairperson also implored Epe residents, particularly, Christians to use the occasion to seek the face of God for continuous peace in Epe LG, Lagos State and Nigeria, especially as the state preparing for the LG elections.

    She said: “I wish all Epe indigenes, Lagosians and Christians across the country and other parts of the world a Happy Easter as we remember the sacrifice and love of Jesus towards mankind. The message of Easter is that of sacrifice, tolerance, harmony, perseverance, and undying love.

    “As we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I want Epe residents, Lagosians and Nigerians in general to make togetherness and unity of the country the central goal of our nationalities.

    “We should also use the period to pray for peace in Epe, Lagos State and Nigeria as the state prepares for the LG elections scheduled for July.

    “Let us all emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by simply impacting the lives of friends, colleagues, associates, neighbours, and family members, as well as contributing to the growth and development of our dear Epe LG, Lagos State and Nigeria.”

    Princess Animashaun used the opportunity of Easter celebration to commend and thank Epe indigenes for their steadfastness, resilience, support and cooperation with her administration during her first term, while also reassuring residents of her government’s commitment to continued good governance and more people-oriented programmes during her second term in office if elected.

    The Chairman, Epe Local Government Council Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun, has reassured the people that she would not renege on her developmental plans, adding that she would govern the council with the fear of God.

    She called on the people and residents to be peaceful and embrace peace, saying development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

    Princess Animashaun stated this while on an inspection tour of the ongoing developmental projects across the council area, promising to deliver the projects soonest, as it has reached 90 per cent completion.

    According to her, all these projects would soon be delivered, the state-of-the-art museum and e-library which would serve as a repository of local government’s collective and shared memories, as well as reconstruction of Akodu Street, Adebowale-Logun Street, Shagari Housing Estate Gate and Egbekunle Street, likewise S.Rahman and Alhaja Khadijat Kareem Street are testimonies of the present administration.

    The inspection tour was attended by Vice Chairman, Sikiru Owolomoshe, Rahmon Saheed, Secretary to the Local Government;  Kareem Pitan, Leader of the House;  Odupe Fuad Tunde, Supervisor for Environment; Oniga Kazeem, Deputy Leader;  Bolanle Lawal, Supervisor for WAPA; Oluwo Rasheed, Majority Leader.

    Princess Animashaun said her administration would continue to rule the council with the fear of God and ensure that the dividends of democracy gets to the nooks and crannies of the council.

    She said: “We have promised the residents of our council that we will rule them with the fear of God and that is what we are doing. We also assure them that we will deliver on all our promises. We want our people to live in peace so that we can have development. We should live in peace and harmony.

    “If we live in peace, the dividends of democracy will go round. We are god-fearing and we will ensure that our people feel the impact of our government positively. But, our people must learn to live in peace with one another.”

    She appreciated the resident’s support, patience and resilience on her administration as the people of the council were passionate about her good governance, promised to work harder for the betterment of the people of the council.
