Cleric, don, others seek support for less privileged

Cleric and President of Care People Foundation, Rev. Paul Tiouwani-Lesekese, has urged privileged Nigerians to help the needy amid tough economic conditions.

He spoke at the foundation’s carnival for physically challenged, orphans, widows and the less privileged in Ibadan.

Wheelchairs, sewing and grinding machines and foodstuffs were distributed to People With Disability (PWDs), motherless children and the needy.

Tiouwani-Lesekese said even those without disability find it difficult to survive the hunger ravaging the land.

According to him, though the government is doing its best to cushion effects of hardship, the less privileged deserve support.

“That is why we provide wheelchairs, mattresses, foodstuffs, sewing and grinding machines to support the less privileged every December.

“We believe that to get beans, you have to plant beans. So too to get mercy, you need to sow mercy. Anyone seeking God’s intervention must show mercy to the needy,” he said.

Founder/Chair of Ibadan Central Hospital, Dr Abib Olamitoye, also called for support for the less privileged.

“Prayers for blessings receive rapid acceptance when we aid others,” he said.

Former Vice Chancellor of Bell University, Ota, Prof. Isaac Adeyemi, praised the foundation for putting smiles on the “neglected and unprotected children” despite the harsh economy.

Akinola-Hassan urged the government to increase palliatives for the poor and to work towards reducing pump price.

He believes local production will help address the economic challenges that arose from petrol subsidy removal.

“It will help reduce the pressure on our Naira because the demand for Forex will be reduce drastically, attracting both local and foreign investors to go back to business.

“Nigerian will then begin to enjoy our God given wealth just like other OPEC countries that is blessed with oil such as Saudi Arabian, Kuwait, UAE,” the chairman said.
