    PZ Cussons, makers of Morning Fresh, a leading dishwashing liquid has launched a new consumer promotion targeted at creating more affinity between the brand and Nigerian consumers. The promotion tagged “Morning Fresh Kitchen Makeover” was unveiled to the delight of consumers and distributors in Lagos.

    Speaking at the unveiling, the PZ Cussons’ Managing Director for Family Care, Mr. Alex Goma said the decision to launch out a new promo for Morning Fresh is borne out of the desire to continue to cement existing relationship with consumers despite the difficult challenge of the time. He admitted that though there are economic challenges, the company remains committed to innovation in order to satisfy the need of its dynamic consumers.

    He added: “for us, it is about doing the right thing and finding the balance of what is it that we can give back to the consumer. Consumers are always looking for a breakthrough. I think buying something for N300 and having the opportunity to win N1million worth of kitchen utensils and appliances is something consumers would find appealing. This is because he/she gets the benefits of using the products, and winning prizes at the same time.” For us, it is a way of giving back and building the brand, Goma said.

    On her part, one of the major distributors of the product, Mrs. Ladun Adebiyi said the company has done well to keep faith with pricing despite the fluctuation and hike in dollar rate. She urged others distributors from competition to patronize the products stressing that she has remained loyal because of their desire to meet the need of their distributor.

    The Brand Development/Activation Manager, Ms. Iminabo Georgewill, said the company considers it necessary to reward consumers for their loyalty hence the launch of the promo.

    She said” The promotion is called Morning fresh kitchen Makeover which has a N40 million worth of prizes. Apart from the instant prizes that come as airtime and other gifts, consumers stand a chance of winning the ultimate prize of kitchen makeover. All they need do is send codes obtained having bought two packs of Morning fresh promo bottles.

    The Morning Fresh can come from any of the variants which include Original, Zesty Lemon or antibacterial. Thereafter, the participant scratches the silver panel of any two (2) of the variants gently, sends name (space) e-mail (space) Location (space) the alpha numerical codes with space between them to 30383. As soon he or she sends the code, she/he gets an instant airtime reward.     Lafarge Africa Plc has rewarded its customers with various prizes with Mrs. Yeside Oduyebo clinching the star prize of 50 bags of cement at the final raffle draw of its Buy & Win’ promo in Lagos.

    During the draw held in Ikorodu, 34 customers went home with five bags of cement, 20 customers with 10 bags of cement, 10 with 15 bags, all totaled 570 bags.

    Its Marketing Director, Bruno Hounkpati said the promotion is part of an overall strategy to win with the customers and create value for them.

    “What we want to achieve is to increase our customers’ loyalty. A repeat business or behaviour can be bribed but customer loyalty has to be earned.  We believe our customers have been good to us in spite of the situation; we are in a competitive environment,” Hounkpati noted.

    He said the promo which started  December last year ends this month, adding that it is targeted at retailers and block-moulders. He said  it is with a view to stimulating end user demand and enhancing sell out from key distributors.

    Explaining the promo works, Hounkpati said: “For the first phase, consumers who purchase 100bags of cement received an instant umbrella gift while in the second phase for every purchase of twenty bags the retailer gets a coupon which qualifies him to participate in a raffle draw with the chance of winning several gift items.

    “The promo is focused on the key regions of Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, West and Southwest has witnessed nine different raffle draws with 60 winners emerging from each location. So far, over 700 customers have been rewarded at the different raffle draw locations which include Badagry, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ajah, Abule-Egba, Oregun, Sagamu and Ikorodu. For the raffle prize, customers were rewarded with cement ranging from five bags to a star prize of 50 bags and other point of sales materials like Shovels, Head-pans, Pouches, Jackets, Almanacs, and T-shirts.”

    According to Hounkpati over 12 trucks each containing 600bags of cement have been given out since the commencement of the promo.

    Meanwhile, the Managing Director, Ebony De Great Nigeria Ltd, Mrs. Modupe Oshibowale, one of the key distributors of Lafarge in Ikorodu has commended the  building materials company for honouring its promise to reward its loyal customers.

Tough time will come, tough time will go.If you don’t invest in keeping that relationship active, when the good time comes, consumers would remember that you did not know them when times were tough,” Goma asserted.

  • PZ Wilmar spends N20m on promo

    PZ Wilmar, producers of Mamador cooking oil has spent over N20 million including three brand new Hyundai Accent cars to appreciate customers in its ‘Mamador cook and cruise promo.’

    One of the winners from Akure, a 19-year-old Emmanuel Enofe, an undergraduate, went home with a brand new Hyundai Accent car presented to him by Head of Sales, PZ Wilmar, Mohit Kumar in Abuja. Two other winners of brand new Hyundai Accent cars emerged from Lagos and Port Harcourt.

    Mrs. Martha Agboniro, a caterer from Benin and Mrs. Anjola Ogunbodede, a banker from Lagos, both won N1 million each in the raffle draws held in November and December last year. Another winner, Mrs. Deborah Ayu was presented N1 million cash prize at the draw.

  • CPC orders MTN to pay N1.85m to promo winner

    The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has directed mobile telecommunication giant, MTN Communications Limited to pay N1,850,000 to one of the winners of its Ultimate Wonder Promo for lack of due diligence.

    A statement endorsed by Mr Abiodun Obimuyiwa of the CPC explained that the order came on the heels of a complaint brought by Mr. Omeje Chukwuma Fidelis against the teleco that he had been underpaid after he was declared winner of N2 million in the said sales promotion  held in 2012.

    According to Omeje, he participated in the promo and was called through MTN line 180 on October 10, 2012 that he had won N2million in the Ultimate Wonder Promo and that on October 12 of the same year, he got a text message informing him of the presentation ceremony fixed for October 19 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

    The complainant said during the ceremony, he was presented with a dummy cheque of N2million with his name on it, interviewed and paraded before the media and the world as a winner of the said amount.

    He recounted further that he was stunned to receive another call from MTN line 180 on November 2, 2012 that his winning was N150,000 and was thereafter given a Verve ATM card for that amount.

    While three customers of the bank were rewarded with N1 million each at the monthly draw,   a total of four and 10 others smiled home with N250,000 and N100,000 during the random electronic  selection.

    VISA, in partnership with Total Nigeria, has rewarded winners who took part in its free fuel promotion meant to improve e-payment card usage in the country.

    Eight lucky customers out of 1,100 who participated in the grand raffle draw by sending SMS to a short-code, were rewarded with free fuel at any Total service station for a year, with customised Visa card worth N260, 000 and billed to expire in four years given to them.

    Also, 3,500 customers participated in the instant winning of N1,000 worth free fuel available daily to 10 Visa card users who buy petrol worth N3000 and above from any of the seven designated Total service stations in Lagos.

    Country manager, VISA West Africa, Mr. Ade Ashaye at the presentation to the winners, said it is a thing of joy to see the number of Nigerians who participated in the promotion to promote and educate consumers and businesses on the convenience of making payments for fuel and other commodities through e-payment.
