    Stakeholders to shape packaging at Propak exhibition

    How to shape the future of packaging in the sub-region will dominate discussions at the 12th Propak West Africa exhibition and conference with special focus on access to finance for industrial growth.

    The three-day event, beginning on September 9, and holding at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, is expected to bring together over 5,500 visitors, from 35 countries, the organiser, Afrocet Montgomery Group Marketing and Operations Director, Jamie Pearson, said in a statement.

    Also, 250 global brands exhibitors are expected to attend. They include BBM Maschinenbau, Danfra Solutions, Krones AG, Milacron India, Neofyton, Piovan Group, and Reifenhauser Blown, deco Project Engineering, Ankan Group of Companies, Beaumont Industrial Services, E-One Machinery, JMG Limited, Proxima, SBA Nigeria, Stav Limited and Veepee Group.

    KPMG Nigeria, among others, is the strategic partner for the exhibition with the theme, ‘’Lifecycle data management for sustainable packaging systems’’.

    Manufacturers are set to attend Propak West Africa 2023 which opens from today to September 14, at the Landmark Centre,  Victoria Island, Lagos.

     Mr Jamie Pearson, Marketing Director, Afrocet Montgomery, organisers of the exhibition, said: “Propak is expected to host its biggest event ever to mark the special 10th edition which will see more than 5,000 visitors attending to discover innovations from over 200 brands showcasing their latest equipment and solutions with exciting live machine demonstrations taking place on the exhibition floor.”

     Also, the conference will be held in partnership with KPMG Nigeria, African Packaging Organisation and Institute of Packaging Nigeria.

     Propak is giving special recognition to some companies as official 10th Edition Propak Pioneers. They included AFRA International, BOBST Africa, Lohia Corporation, Neofyton, Newlord Nigeria, Sacmi, Speciality Adhesives and Coatings, Veepee Group, and Vista.

  • Propak West Africa exhibition opens Sept 19

    Propak West Africa, organised by Afrocet Montgomery, will open September 19, at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    In a statement, Emma Hooper, the firm’s Business Development Director, said this year’s exhibition is the fifth edition, and that no fewer than over 3,000 visitors were expected. He said there would be 22 conference sessions with over 30 experts who had confirmed their participation.

    He said the event is a global platform for packaging, plastics and print industry, where professionals and leading brands share market insights, cutting-edge technology developments and expertise.

    Hooper said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome a variety of respected industry speakers to the Propak podium this year who will be divulging observations, experience and topical case studies to attendees. Each session has been selected to reflect a broad range of themes within the industry such as business strategy, efficiency, sustainability as well as sessions focused on different vertical sectors like food processing, print, pharmaceuticals and many more.”

    Among the experts is Tetra Pak’s Managing Director, Phillipe De Louche who will discuss ‘Breakthrough packaging technology to boost efficiency for food producers’ and Ishida Europe’s Managing Director, Steve Jones.

    With the launch of the brand new ‘Print & Digital Expo’ pavilion, a key focus of the conference will be on the print industry with a day dedicated to it.

    “As a sector that holds a great deal of potential, print is something we are very interested in promoting at this year’s show. With the increased cross-over between print and packaging, many of the companies attending this year will be able to discover opportunities for growth and expansion at the dedicated print technical and Conference sessions, Hooper said. The conference is free.

     

  • Propak exhibition ends in Lagos

    A LEADING packaging, processing, printing and plastics exhibition firm Afrocet Montgomery has held its exhibition in Victoria Island, Lagos.

    The event, titled: Propak West Africa, which held at the Landmark Events Centre, was attended by over 70 firms from 15 countres. They came from faraway Asian countries, such as India and Dubai.

    Some of the firms were Bosch, Chellarams PLC, Bobst, Ching Hwa, Aquasagar, Ist Point Digisep and Heidelberg.

    The Afrocet Montgomery Regional Director West Africa George Pearson, who described the three-day event as a huge success, said it afforded the exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their products and  latest developments in the industry, adding that the firms got value for their money.

    He said over 20 leading experts were invited to speak at the exhibition.

    Besides, he said it afforded them the platform to “meet, network and do business with the very companies driving these industrial sectors’ huge growth.”

    Pearson noted the merger between Montgomery and Afrocet, saying  the later had been in business in the sub-region for over 25 years. “It’s a family business with a long history and deep roots in Africa, and it’s this understanding and knowledge of how to run events in Africa, which has led it to launch, grow and run some of the most successful exhibitions in the region today,’’ he added.

    Pearson thanked the following organisations for their support: Institute of Packaging Nigeria(IOPN),World Packaging Organisation(WPO), Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and World Trade Centre – Nigeria.

    Managing Director Angus Montgomery Damion Angus described the exhibition as the “biggest international forum’’, noting that it was cost effective in terms of the people coming together and the benefits that indigenous distributors got.

    He said Nigeria was chosen to host the event in the sub-region because of its huge population and size.

    A Media Partner with Afrocet Montgomery Joju Adekambi said the multiplier effects of the exhibition were huge. “Propak is selling real value to the industry,’’he added.

    The next exhibition would hold in September next year, the organisers said.

  • Propak holds exhibition Sept 1

    THE leading packaging, food processing, plastics, labelling and print exhibition in West Africa exhibition, Propak West Africa 2015, will hold at the Landmark Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, between September 1 and 3.

    In a statement, its organiser’s, Afrocet Montgomery, Regional Director, George Pearson,  said over 70 exhibitors are being expected from West Africa and internationally. “The show will encompass and showcase the most current, futuristic solutions and highlight leading trends that are rapidly changing the packaging, printing and labelling industries,” it said.

    It added: “Expect to access international, innovative and industry leading solutions, capitalise on extensive networking opportunities with international and local experts, attend dedicated and interactive seminar streams and come for three full days to gain revitalised strategy at the only platform that attracts the most decision makers in West Africa’s packaging, print, plastics and labelling markets.

  • Propak West Africa exhibition for Sept 2

    A firm Montgomery West Africa is set to hold an exhibition for packaging firms, experts and investors from September 2 to 4 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    Titled: Propak West Africa 2014, the exhibition would feature over 50 participants from West Africa and abroad. These include firms and experts from China, Germany, India and South Africa. Chellarams and a subsidiary of Kodak are among new firms that have indicated interest in the expo.

    Managing Director Montgomery West Africa Tori Abiola said the event is aimed at creating a market for stakeholders in the sub-sector to enable them benefit from its attendant advantages, such as networking and boosting their businesses.

    She also said it would provide a competitive advantage for participants. She noted that the subsector could grow by over 10 per cent yearly, if well harnessed.

    She said the expo was unique because it would also hold a free seminar for participants to educate them on innovations in printing and packaging. Besides, there would also be segment titled:’ Print Expo’ and’ Pro Plas’, where new machines and materials used in the subsector would be unveiled.

    Ms Abiola added that the forum would provide a one-stop shop for exhibitors to showcase their products. “They  are not only going to learn about new products but also learn and improve in the industry,” she said.

    Besides, Sales Agent, Montgomery West Africa Joju Adekanbi said: “The exhibition is the biggest event in the subsector in West Africa. We brought it here because Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product(GDP) is the largest in Africa,” adding that it was also in the country about two years ago. Besides oil and gas, the packaging and plastics industry is very attractive, he affirmed.

    “We started in 2012. Then, we had 49 exhibitors. We have more than that this year. He assured of security, saying that was why the venue was chosen.

    The firm has the support of both the Institute of Packaging (IOP), Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON). IOP’s President Mike Adekola said: “Propak is the best thing to happen in West Africa. Its organisers educate people about packaging.We have been involved in the last six years and we are not going back. The first exhibition was very successful; we are hoping that this one would be, especially as those coming to this one could triple the figure of 2012.

    He said Propak is vital because Nigeria needs to boost the subsector. He listed the challenges in packaging as market domination by foreigners and low level of education.
