Cleric urges Fed Govt on palliatives distribution

The Planter of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Adamimogo, Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain World-wide, Prophet Sam Alo, has urged the Federal Government to use another means of giving out palliatives to Nigerians, to cushion the effect of economic hardship.

He said palliatives given out are not getting to the targeted audience.

Speaking in Efon Alaaye, headquarters of Efon Local Government of Ekiti State, the cleric urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act fast by tackling the plight of aggrieved Nigerians, mostly youths, who recently embarked on nationwide protest.

He said: ‘’Although the President has good intention to see that the palliatives are being given to the vulnerable in the society, some of them have been going into wrong hands.

“If the President can find another thing that will benefit everybody, this will be better. In the Western World, the elderly and youths have bank account numbers and these help their leaders to know the poor and the rich over there.

“Through this, helping hands can be getting across to each and everyone of them. The so-called palliatives may not even get to some villages to enable them know the impact being made by the President in alleviating their suffering.’’

Alo suggested that the money allocated for purchase of the palliatives could as well be used to assist farmers.

He said there are food crops that can be planted within a few months and bring appreciable yields.

Urging youths on protest, Alo said although protests take place in overseas, youths should not be violent by making bonfire on roads, adding that they should do away with looting of private and government property.

He advised governors to expedite action on implementation of the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage for workers, warning them against engaging in unprofitable ventures and anti-people’s policies that could aggravate grievances of youths.
