Queen Atang escapes injury as POP ceiling collapses at home

Former Big Brother Naija star Queen Mercy Atang has recounted a frightening incident at her home when the POP ceiling in her sitting room unexpectedly collapsed early Wednesday morning.

She credited divine intervention for her family’s safety, stating, “God said, not this family.”

In a social media post, Queen Mercy explained that she had returned home around 4 a.m. after picking up a friend from the airport, finding her sister and nanny still sewing.

She had asked her workers to sleep in the sitting room, but they had just left the area when the ceiling gave way.

This marks the second ceiling-related incident at her residence, following a garage ceiling collapse a few weeks ago.

Atang wrote, “7:58 am God said, not this family. Guys, I worked late into the night. I was at the airport picking up my girl, who just arrived in Nigeria for her Guinness World Record project. Because of the limited time we have, we had to shoot all through the night.

“I got home around 4 am. When I arrived, my kid sister was still sewing. I remember telling my workers to sleep in the sitting room and go home once it was morning. They both said they wanted to go home. The guy left, but I persuaded my girl to stay back; it’s not safe for a girl to be walking the road at night.

“By 6 am this morning, she left. Meanwhile, my younger sister and my nanny were still awake sewing. Normally, she sews till morning and then sleeps off in the sitting room. I thank God they didn’t sleep there today.

“They were still sewing when the POP ceiling fell. They both literally had to run for their lives.

“I was trying to catch a few hours of sleep before starting my day when my mum rushed in to tell me what had just happened. The first thing I asked was, “Mommy, where is Doctor @dr_brightie and my nanny?” She replied, “They’re upstairs.” My blood pressure came down immediately.

“A few weeks ago, it was my garage POP that fell; this morning it’s my sitting room. Now, in the middle of all this, I’m planning my girl’s @kosi_ani Guinness World Record project, which kicks off this Friday.

“As the coordinator of this event, my brain is literally everywhere. Figuring out how to move my family to a more comfortable space while also ensuring this project is a complete success. Dear Lord, I am grateful. Thank You for Your love and Your protection. I’m truly grateful.”

Why I feel like keeping my marriage off social media – BBNaija’s Queen Atang

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Queen Mercy Atang, has shared a disturbing encounter with online trolls, triggered by false divorce rumours about her marriage.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, she exposed the vile messages sent to her husband’s DMs, with one troll referring to her as an “amoeba” and advising her husband to warn her.

Queen revealed that the rumors of her breakup led to an influx of girls flooding her husband’s DMs, badmouthing her and offering to marry him, claiming they would be more obedient.

The experience has left her contemplating keeping her marriage private to avoid the intense online scrutiny.

Addressing her critics, Queen asserted that while she has developed a thick skin for online trolling, there should be limits to what people say.

She warned that crossing the line would prompt her to take action, emphasising her determination to protect herself and her relationship from malicious online attacks.

She wrote: “This isn’t the first time these “strolls” have found their way into my husband’s DMs to say ridiculous things. You trolled me, I reacted, and then you ran to his DMs to say you wanted to drag me. Did someone tell you I’m scared of being dragged? I’ve had enough of it. You have no idea what I’ve been through regarding online trolling; I’ve developed a thick skin for it.

“I now understand why so many people keep their marriages low-key. Trust me, this space is not safe.

“A few months ago, when rumours spread that my husband and I had broken up, the number of girls who flooded his DMs was shocking. Some were bad-mouthing me, others boldly offering to marry him, claiming they’d be more “obedient” than me. I’ve really seen it all in this space.

“Sometimes, I feel like hiding his Instagram account or stopping myself from posting him. The kind of messages he reads about me—only God can help me handle them.

“Please, if you want to drag me, go ahead, but don’t cross the line. If I decide to make an example of you, you won’t like it. “
