    Rangers FC, celebrities to honour Mr Ibu with novelty match

    Rangers International Football Club, celebrities, top  personalities and fans are set to honour late Mr Ibu with a novelty match  for his astonishing comedy career when he was alive.

    Rangers FC just won the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and will honour late Mr. Ibu in the highly anticipated novelty match.

    In a statement by the Chairman Central Planning Committee for the burial,  Monday Diamond Ani, he  noted that the novelty match is a way of honoring the late Mr. Ibu with Rangers being the Nigerian Premier League Champion and the official club of the Enugu State Government, adding  ‘this is an indication that the Enugu State government appreciates  him.’

    He  added: “Also, special thanks go to the General Manager of Rangers FC, Amobi Ezeaku and Commissioner for Youth and Sports Lloyd Ekweremmadu for their remarkable effort and time invested in the planning of this novelty match.”

    Diamond further highlighted that the donations for the funeral service from family and friends are still ongoing and the committee appreciates the goodwill of all who wish to honour the late Mr. Ibu even in death. 

    “A special thanks goes to everybody investing their time, money and effort towards the success of this last remembrance especially to the Best Family who donated a live cow for this event. May your efforts towards the success of this event be returned a thousandfold, “he said.

    The novelty match holds on Tuesday 25th of June at the Cathedral of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu by 4pm. 

  • Rangers not scared of Tunisian clubs, says Chukwu

    Rangers FC of Enugu Technical Adviser Christian Chukwu says the club is not scared of Tunisian sides, CS Sfaxien or Etoile du Sahel.

    Chukwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja that Rangers were familiar with Tunisian clubs, dating back to when he was a player with the Enugu club.

    Rangers are grouped alongside CS Sfaxien, Etoile du Sahel and Salitas of Burkina Faso in Group B.

    Chukwu reiterated his confidence in the ability of Rangers to outwit all the clubs in Group B to qualify.

    “We are not afraid of Tunisian clubs, instead they should be afraid of us.

    “We have been used to each other since the time I was playing for Rangers. We are sure of victory.”

    The former Super Eagles player said he was confident his club would defeat any team from Tunisia.

    According to him, my players are in high spirit and good mood to defeat their opponents.

    He assured that as Nigeria Professional Football League Champions, Rangers would make Nigeria proud.

  • Enugu builds N18m physiotherapy centre for Rangers FC

    Enugu State Government has approved N18 million for the building of a physiotherapy and fitness centre for Rangers International FC, Enugu.

    The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in the state, Joseph Udedi, told the News men on Monday in Enugu that the centre would be sited at the Rangers’ Camp in Emene, Enugu.

    According to him, the sports equipment company from overseas has started installing the machines at the centre.

    “Before the end of next week, the installation will be completed and the company will train local technicians that will take care of the equipment after the installation,’’ he said.

    Udedi lauded Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the project because an injury could sideline a footballer and his trainer for life if adequate medicare was not available.

    “The equipment includes ankle training machine, elbow training machine, sweat treading machine, bicycle timer equipment and body rollers.

    “There is also physiotherapy first aid box, other physiotherapy medical consumables and various massaging machines,’’ he said.

    Imminent massive shake-up in Rangers FC – Official

    There will be massive shake up in Rangers FC of Enugu ahead of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL ) season, spokesman of the club, Foster Chime, said on Tuesday.

    Chime told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu that the club would lay-off a number of management staff, technical crew and players before the commencement of the season in November.

    He however denied that the Rangers FC General Manager, Christian Chukwu, had already sacked the entire management, technical crew and players.

    “The management has decided in a meeting yesterday to reposition the club ahead of the new league season.

    “The shake-up might be unprecedented in the history of the club as it will be all encompassing,’’ he said.

    Chime said that the whole exercise was to reposition the club for greatness in the new season as well as cut all unnecessary encumbrances within the club.

    “All that the General Manager of the club, Christian Chukwu, wants to do is to herald a new beginning for the club in order to enshrine optimal productivity by all involved with the club,’’ he said.

    NAN reports that Rangers fought hard to escape relegation, finishing 13th on the 2016/2017 NPFL log after securing 53 points from 38 matches.

    Football pundits are still surprised over Rangers poor performance in the league after winning the 2015/2016 edition of the NPFL.

    Rangers player declared missing

    The management of Rangers International FC, Enugu, has declared its striker, Daniel Etor, missing.

    The club’s Director of Media and Public Relations, Foster Chime, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

    Chime said the player missed the club’s training without permission.

    He said: “Daniel Etor’s whereabouts now is unknown and efforts to locate or communicate with him had been futile.

    “The player, according to the club’s coaches, alighted from the official club bus on their way back from Ilorin, where they played league match with ABS FC of Ilorin the previous day and eloped without trace.”

    Chime said the Rangers management on Thursday informed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) about the player’s absence from the team camp.

    Amapakabo assures Nigerians of Rangers’ victory against Algerian opponents

     

    Rangers’ Coach, Imama Amapakabo, has assured Nigerians of his team’s victory over JS Saoura of Algeria in their second leg encounter on Feb. 19.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the second leg encounter will take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday.

    Amapakabo told NAN on Monday in Enugu that there was nothing to celebrate as there was much work to be done in the second leg encounter.

    The coach, who extolled his players for their resilience, said that there was need to conclude the second leg on a “superlative note’’.

    “”There is still much work to be done that is why I will not accept any congratulatory message for now.

    ““It is just the first leg and we have the second leg already awaiting us on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu by 4 p.m.

    ““However, I want to assure the entire nation and football loving Nigerians that we will deliver victory on Sunday.

    ““The technical crew will take a critical view of the tape of the first leg and perfect the team for a robust assault against the Algerian-side on Sunday,’’ he said.

    Amapakabo, urged Nigerians to stand by the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) League Champions, adding that “we are determined to make Nigeria proud internationally’’.

    The Flying Antelope, who are Nigeria’s representative in the Confederation of African Football Champions League, had on Friday secured a 1 – 1 draw against the Algerian side.

  • Rangers FC wants NPFL to schedule league matches

    The Rangers International FC of Enugu on Tuesday appealed to the Nigerian Professional Football League to re-scheduled its league matches.

    The appeal follows the club’s continental engagements, particularly its final preliminary round CAF Confederations match against S.C. Sfaxien of Tunisia on May 19 in Enugu.

    A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Foster Chime, said the re-schedule would help the team to focus properly in its preparation for oncoming engagements.

    Chime said the team planned to resume preparatory camping outside Enugu on Tuesday to elicit a successful outing against the Tunisian side both at home and away.

    He also appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation to reconsider the stringent schedule of clubs involved in continental competitions for leverages in the domestic engagements to allow for optimal performance.

    The spokesman also denied that the team requested for the rescheduling of the Week 11 match against Bayelsa United to Monday.

    “The management officially communicated NPFL to allow us play the Week 11 match against Bayelsa United on Sunday, May 12, while we asked for the rescheduling of the Week 10 match against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi,” he said.

    Chime declared that the match against S.C. Sfaxien of Tunisia on Sunday was a must-win and urged the club’s fans to come out en masse to support their team.

    Rangers FC on track, says Ezeji

    Victor Ezeji, a player with Rangers International FC of Enugu, on Wednesday commended his team’s performance so far in the ongoing 2012/2013 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). Rangers is currently at the second position on the league table with 11 points.

    Ezeji told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that it was too early to predict the outcome of the league but that his club was on track.

    “We are presently second on the table and I must say that we are not far from achieving our goal.

    “Although it is still very early to predict who is going to win, however, Rangers is not doing badly in this early stage,” he said.

    The player who recently lost his mother, said that his bereavement would not affect his performance, when he resumes training with the club.

    Ezeji, who was formerly with Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, also shared his views over the resignation of Austin Eguavoen as Sharks FC’s coach. The erstwhile national U-23 coach had resigned on March 28 during the club’s week four match against Gombe United.

    “Eguavoen is a gentleman and he did what he felt was right for him. For I see no reason for the delay in documenting his contract by the management of Sharks FC, which I hear, was the bone of contention,” he added.
