Rangers cough out N8m for Agbim

AFTER agreeing in principle with Enugu Rangers, Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim, looks set to complete an N8m move to the Coal City.

Agbim, who is expected to join the camp of the Nigerian squad this weekend for the November 14 friendly against Venezuela, is expected to sign for the Flying Antelopes this month barring any hitch.

The player will seal a one-year deal when the Rangers’ CEO, Paul Chibuzor Ozor, returns from his trip overseas for medical check-up.

A club official told supersport.com: “He is close to signing for us. The (transfer) fee involved is around N8 million but that isn’t concluded or certain yet as talks will be finalised and then a contract signed. He will sign this month hopefully when the CEO of the club returns to the country, Chigozie’s contract will finally be sorted out.”

Agbim has been training with Rangers, as they prepare for the 2012/2013 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) and the 2013 CAF Champions League.

He was the first-choice goalkeeper of Warri Wolves last term before his contract ran out.

SUPER EAGLES’ goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim, has agreed in principle to pen a one-year contract with Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Enugu Rangers.

Supersport.com can also report that Agbim could also have an option of renewal in his deal with the Flying Antelopes.

Agbim is however not the only top player in the camp of Enugu Rangers.

His Warri Wolves’ teammate, Sunday Mba is also in line for a contract as well as Heartland defender, Uche Oguchi.

“There are a whole lot of players in the Rangers’ camp as I speak to you. Some of them are undergoing an open screening exercise. But there are a few of them who are here based on invitation by officials and the coach. They have been training with the team and have to some extent agreed to join Rangers.

“There’s Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim from Warri Wolves. There’s also Sunday Mba from Warri Wolves and Uche Oguchi of Heartland. They have agreed to join the club but nothing is official from Rangers yet,” said a Rangers’ source to supersport.com on Saturday.

Already, Rangers have reportedly signed youngster Anthony Okemmiri for a fee of N3.5 million after he was released by Kwara United.

Former Enyimba forward, Ezenwa Otorogu is still in talks with the Enugu-based club.

Rangers finished in second place last term and will play in the 2013 Caf Champions League.

OFOEDU’S TRANSFER LATES AGENT RIPES OFF RANGERS N27M

THE STORM brewing from Chikeluba Oforedu’s transfer to Turkish club 1461 Trabzon is growing by the day, as sources reveal that Enugu Rangers are infuriated that they were riped off N27m from the full value of the loan deal.

allnigeriasoccer.com sources revealed that reports in the Turkish media disclosed that the value of the loan fees was 160, 000 euros (about N33m).

However, the agents that facilitated the deal had told Rangers International that the deal was worth $50, 000, (about N8m) out of which they had already paid $40, 000 (about N6m) to the Enugu State owned team’s coffers.

When news of the true value of the loan reached Oak Zeel FC President, Okechukwu Omeje and the club’s legal representatives Activity Chambers, they quickly contacted Rangers to find out if they were aware of the true value of the loan and our sources say that once it dawned on Rangers International that they had been taken for a ride and defrauded by the agents they swore to get to the root of the case.

According to the source, all efforts by the Rangers boss to reach the agent Lanre proved abortive as the agent refused to pick the chairman’s call.
