    Pomp as football bigwigs celebrate Ojo-Oba at 70 

    Eminent Nigerians  within  the sports sector  yesterday converged in Ibadan to celebrate former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), Dr. Raufu Bolaji Ojo-Oba as he marked his  70th  birthday anniversary amid pomp and ceremony  .

    The Platinum jubilee event which attracted  personalities from within and outside Ibadan, was an opportunity for hundreds of friends, associates, residents and well-wishers in the Nigerian football family to show their appreciations to the celebrant.

    Dr. Amos Adamu, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, the Chairman Shooting Stars Sports Club, (3SC) Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, Prof. Babatunde Asagba from the University of Ibadan, Dr. Ademola Olajire of the NFF , the Oyo FA Chairman, HRH Oba James Odeniran all gave  fitting tributes to the celebrant.

    Former Director General of the defunct National Sports Commission (NSC),Dr. Adamu in his remark,  described Chief Ojo-Oba as a passionate individual who has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian sports landscape, particularly in the realm of football.

    “Dr  Ojo-Oba has exhibited versatility and expertise throughout his career, serving in a variety of roles, including Commissioner of Sports in Oyo State, Instructor and Commissioner for the Confederation of African Football.”

    The celebrant on the other hand,  thanked all the dignitaries that left their busy schedules from far and near to honour him on the occasion of his 70th  birthday while sharing some of his remarkable experiences using them as a point of contact to appreciate the Lord’s protection over his life.

    Dr. Ojo-Oba’s illustrious career spans several decades, during which he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, versatility, and expertise. He was  Secretary-General of the NFF between 2007 and 2010.

    He was  for many years a security  chieftain  for both CAF  and FIFA   which  he served meritoriously.
