The RCCG general overseer chided those who always criticise the military, saying they should rather pray for them to curtail insecurity so that the country could be at peace.

“Some of us, all we know is to criticise the military. But we need to know that they too are human beings like us and they have their limitations. What we should do is to continue to pray for them so that they can record success in their operations,” Adeboye said.

The church’s National Overseer, Joseph Obayemi, presented the candidates to the Adeboye for ordination to help in the growth of the church and in service to God.

The candidates were so many that the ordination was done in batches with senior ministers taking turns to lay hands on them. The number of those ordained is 1,563 higher than the figure of last year when Adeboye ordained 11,258 deacons and deaconesses, drawn from various parishes of the church.

Explaining the process of ordination, Adeboye said: “In the Redeemed Christian Church of God ordination is done by laying of hands, proclamation and prayers.”

  • RCCG spends N500m on technical college

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Tuesday said it had spent over N500 million on establishing Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM).

The church said it needed at least N1.2 billion more to upgrade and expand existing facilities and provide new ones for RECTEM’s next academic session, which will begin in September.

RECTEM’s Governing Council Chairman, Pastor Johnson Odesola, who spoke in Lagos at the college’s official public presentation ceremony, implored Nigerians to help fund the dream to produce out world-class technologists.

Odesola explained that the institution was part of the RCCG’s effort to partner the government to fill the “huge gap in technical education development” in the country.

He said: “Technical education development is at its lowest ebb, with the sorry state of many of our national polytechnics, which are seriously lacking in critical facilities, laboratory and workshop equipment with the graduates very deficient in expertise when compared with their counterparts elsewhere.

“More worrisome is the fact that we have neglected the training of workmen and masonries across the professions, particularly in civil works and building, thereby making the quality of our construction very poor.

“The attendant negative effect is that we have to import this kind of manpower from neighbouring countries in preference for Nigerians, thereby putting more pressure upon an already depressed economy.”

Odesola regretted that despite expending over N500 million on buildings, facilities and equipment, more still needs to be done.

  • Adeboye reiterates position on national issues

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has reiterated his position on key national issues and the overall well-being of Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday at the National Headquarters of the Church, he reaffirmed his commitment to the umbrella Christian organizations that are mandated to speak on issues affecting the Church and the nation as a whole.

The statement, signed by RCCG’ Head, Media & Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, said: “As in the past, that the views of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) represented his position and that of the RCCG.

“Pastor Adeboye, himself a one-time PFN President, noted that the aforementioned Christian bodies had spoken on the issues of kidnapping, killing of Christians, herdsmen attacks and general insecurity in Nigeria and that his position and that of the RCCG was not different from their expressed views.

“Besides, as a Pastor and spiritual father to millions of people in Nigeria and across the world, he regularly leads the congregation to pray over the problems confronting the nation at all major programmes of the Church.”

It went further: “The RCCG leader had always called the congregation to prayers against kidnapping, bloodshed and general insecurity at the monthly all-night Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption Camp. For instance, at the July Holy Ghost Service

“That was four days before a group of students and youths under the leadership of some notable artistes like Baba Fryo, Charley Boy and Eedris Abdulkarim came to the Redemption Camp.

“According to the group, they had come to show their unhappiness with his supposed silence over killings of Christians, establishment of cattle camps called RUGA and kidnapping in the Pastor Adeboye led the congregation in supplication for God’s mercy on Nigeria after speaking on the negative consequences of bloodshed and inhumanity.”

    Adeyinka Akintunde

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on youths to stay away from all forms of evil and lusts.

He noted that there is no way a man can run away from the evil he has committed, no matter how long he has done it.

He said this at the Redemption Camp during the July 2019 Holy Ghost Service of the church.

In the programme tagged “Swimming in Glory, Part 7 – Born to be great”, the cleric noted that when a woman accuses a man of an offence, nobody would be interested in the defense the man wants to offer.

He mentioned no names, but he spoke against the background of recent allegation against Biodun Fatoyinbo, senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA).

A celebrity photographer, Busola Dakolo had gone public with an allegation that Fatoyinbo raped her at her parents’ residence in Ilorin when she was only 16. The allegation had drawn flanks from diverse quarters, forcing Fatoyinbo to “step down” from his position.

“It is written, There is nothing hidden that will not come to the open. Sooner or later, your sins will find you out.

“If you have given your life to Jesus, and you continue in sin under the guise of grace, your sin will find you out.

“When a woman accuses you of something, nobody is going to listen to you; they will listen to the woman. When they ask for witness, she will say ‘do they call people to such a thing?’

“The same bible that says, resist the devil and he will flee is the same bible that said when you find yourself facing youthful lust, you should flee.

Reacting to those that call him old-fashioned, the general overseer said: “I agree that I am old-fashioned. That is what they called me when I said that I will never have a private secretary who is a woman.

“I was ordained in 1975 and I am still surviving. It is better to be old-fashioned and live than to be modern and die.”

The general overseer had previously advised that everyone should always pray that God will have mercy on Nigeria so the shedding of innocent blood will end, noting that God stopped the Ebola virus in the country because at that time, “the cup of Nigeria was not yet full.”

He announced that the church would be holding its annual convention from 5th to 11th August, 2019 with the theme, “And God said”

  • Adeboye to single ladies: don’t marry jobless men

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has warned single ladies to avoid marrying jobless men.

Jobless men, he said, have the tendencies to use, dump and abandon such ladies.

Adeboye spoke on Sunday at the May Special Prayer and Thanksgiving service by the RCCG Throne of Grace, National Headquarters Ebute Metta, Lagos.

According to him, a woman should not marry a man that has no work “if not you will be the work.”

He noted it is not sinful for a single lady to politely ask any man proposing marriage whether or not he has a job.

Stating that women are conceived as helpmeets, Adeboye argued only somebody who has a job can be helped.

Adeboye, who spoke through the Assistant General Overseer, (RCCG) Personnel and Administration Pastor Johnson Odesola, said the man is key and the woman has only come to help.

“Whatever the woman does is help.  The man is major director in the house,” he stressed.

He stated taking care of the homes does not rest on the woman alone but the man and the woman who have come to help.

Adeboye blamed lack of proper home training for most of the ills in the society.

“I still remember when I was young. My father will tell me that this name is the name of my father. Don’t spoil the name. So I was scared to do wrong. I could not shake the hand of a lady until I was 23.

“Learning for any child should start from the home and parents should be their child first teachers.

“The wife and the husband are the main teachers who will teach and model godly character to their children,” he stated.

In his sermon, Adeboye, urged all Christians to strengthen their faith, saying there would always be storm in the lives of the believers.

Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Otunba Gani Adams, who was at the service argued religion, is never the problem of Nigeria.

According to him: “It is sad many people believe religion is Nigeria’s problem, but in truth, leadership, not religion is Nigeria’s problem.

“For instance, I am a Muslim by birth. I grew up from a Christian background and as the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land and culture activist, I also believe in our traditional religion.”

  • I am not God, says Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch  Adeboye has warned persons using his pictures and his wife for various souvenirs for sale to desist from such act as he is not God.

Adeboye gave the waring last Friday at the annual Holy Ghost Congress of the church at the Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The event brought together Christians faithful from 197 countries which featured prayers, Bible teachings, business and marriage seminar and prophetic ministration.

Adeboye said “It has been brought to my notice that people are using m picture and my wife  on key holders, calendars,  books and other souvenirs. Anyone found with such materials should be arrested and reported to the police.

“I am not God. I did not send them. I have nothing to do with those materials. I am an ordinary man. God will never share his glory with any man.”

He noted that what those selling souvenirs with his pictures are doing can lead to serious trouble, not for those selling the wares,  but for him.

“God will not share his glory with any man. If at any time, God senses that a  man is trying to share his glory, the man is dead, and whether the devil likes it or not, I am not going anywhere yet.”

According to Pastor Adeboye, recently a woman bought a key holder with his picture and his wife inscripted on it and  gave it to her child and the child began to eat the key holder and in no time, the picture pasted on the key holder removed and surprisingly what they found was the picture of another televangelist, Prophet T. B Joshua.

During the prayer session, the wife of the General Overseer,Pastor Folu Adeboye lamented the spate of killings, occultism, wickedness being perpetuated by today’s youth which according to her calls for national repentance and conscious appeal to God for forgiveness if Nigeria will ever be great again.

  • RCCG dedicates building after 24 years

In order to further expand the frontiers of the gospel as ordained by God, the National Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Joseph Obayemi has dedicated another church building 24 years after its existence.

The church, Glorious Church, Glory land zonal headquarters, located in Palmgrove Lagos state has a capacity of 450 persons after being renovated and refurbished with almost N20 million to meet modern standards.

Obayemi, who led other men of God to cut the plaque at the dedication ceremony, said the building shows that God works in a wonderful way as it took different men of God with different visions to actualize the goal.

The Provincial pastor, Joseph Adeyokunnu said the building was a testament to the mystery of God and despite the fact that it took that long, the glory of the latter will be greater than the former.

The Zonal pastor, Yomi Lawal said the original plan was for the dedication to be held in December but events shifted it forward to end of August.

Lawal said though he was transferred to the church three years ago, his vision of making the church a befitting place and the insistence of the provincial pastor, Adeyokunnu, spurs him on to see to the completion, adding that it was all due to the grace of God.

He said expansion and acquisition of surrounding buildings for use by the church is part of the long term goals of the zonal branch in fulfillment of the visions of RCCG to reach more people.

Lawal urged other men of God to see God’s duty as one to be done with all intent and not waste time on things that can delay as he borrowed money to start the building which was taken care of by a member instead of waiting.

He said “God’s vision will always come to fruition no matter the delay as long as it is His as he will raise an army to make it happen.”
