    Small Doctor, Simi promise to thrill fans at ‘GOtv Boxing Night 13’

    MUSICAL raves, Small Doctor and Simi, have vowed to thrill fans when they perform live at GOtv Boxing Night 13, holding on 26 December, 2017 at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    The two artistes will be joined by Falz The Bahd Guy and Reekado Banks on the stage at the event.

    Speaking in Lagos, Simi said, “I will be performing live at GOtv Boxing Night 13 with my band, The Banjos. I can hardly contain my excitement because I know it will be incredible. I am looking forward to having the time of my life.”

    On his part, Small Doctor said he will put on a performance that fans will never forget.

    “It will be WOW! I promise to thrill fans and give them an experience they will always remember. I am calling on every fan of mine to come to the show to have plenty of fun,” he said.

    Tickets for the event are available online at ariiyatickets.com, SLOT and Ebeano Supermarket outlets as well as the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Free bus rides are also available to take ticket-holding fans to the venue and bring them back at the end of the show.

    Last Saturday, it was the turn of residents of Benin, the Edo State capital, to be thrilled as A-list artistes performed at the ongoing Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour which held at the Best Western Hotels, Etete, Benin.

    With DJ Lambo playing music to set the tone, the fun heightened with the introduction of the delectable duo of Mercy Johnson-Okojie, the Kogi-born actress and Ebube Nwagbo. They were complemented by two Nollywood legends, Patience Ozokwor, also known as Mama G and Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), who made special appearances at the show.

    The stage was subsequently thrown open to budding local artistes with Rasman Sugarrman, 2Soul, Miyake, Waziri Jnr., 3.6, and Viscular making the line-up.

    The first headline act was Marvin Records member, Reekado Banks, who released in quick succession his most popular tunes including Ada, Gbedu and Noni. Music diva Omawumi took over from him and yielded the stage to ladies’ sweetheart, Kiss Daniel who performed Mama, New King, Gobe and Woju. The fun was turned up several notches by dancehall king, Runtown, who sent the hall into a wild reverie with his monster hit, Mad Over You.

    Highlife maestro, Flavour, took over and did not only sustain the tempo, but also raised it even higher with his energetic performance. The excitement in the hall continued when the popular Igbo rap artiste, Phyno took over. Phyno was midway into his hit track, Fada Fada when his music twin brother, Olamide, spotting a grey hairstyle, arrived the stage to a tumultuous reception.

    The next stop for the train of the concert is Old Parade Ground, Abuja this Saturday. Interested Glo subscribers wishing to attend the Abuja show are expected to recharge their lines with up to N2,000 credit and sms ‘MUSIC ABUJA’ to the short code 207.

    Reekado Banks, Simi, others for Alibaba’s January 1st Concert

    ALL is set for Alibaba’s ‘January 1st Concert’ as popular rapper, Olamide, has joined the long line up of A-list artists scheduled to perform. Holding today at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, the concert will mark its third edition since it began in 2014.

    Convener of the concer, Alibaba has promised fans the edition will be significantly bigger than the previous as there are surfeit of surprises for attendees. The comedy veteran also revealed the concert will not only involve comedy and music alone but dance as well.

    Produced by Bunmi Davies, the concert will feature some of the biggest comedy names including Okey Bakassi, Akpororo, Omo Baba, AY, Senator, MC Abbey, Kenny Blaq, Funny Bone, Yaw, Short Family and several other highly sought—after comedians.

    Fans will also witness music performances from other talented artists, including Harry Song, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, Omawumi, Yinka Davies, Cobhams, Simi, Waje and a host of others.

    Like its previous edition, ‘January 1st Concert’ will also have in attendance some of Africa’s most lauded personalities and celebrities.

  • KOREDE BELLO, REEKADO BANKS SHUT DOWN IMSU

    TELECOMS firm, Globacom has wrapped up its campus to campus concert with a superlative show at the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri.

    The show which took place last weekend at the main auditorium of the institution, featured top class entertainers; Reekado Banks, Korede Bello while 2CanTalk, the Enugu-based comedian held the audience spell-bound all evening.

    The artistes gave the university community a yuletide treat with comedy, dance and music at their best; and the crowd savoured every moment of the show, swaying, laughing and clapping  to the music and jokes from the stage.

    The event began with commendable performances from up-coming talents from the university community like Dimky, Roger-Lino, Lee Ray, Lambasixx, Ok David and Young Prince who gave a good account of their talents.

    But the heat of the night was turned up when Reekado banks stepped on stage with his Looku Looku track. From that he shifted the equally hit tracks like Chop Am, Sugar Baby; Problem and Katapot. He ended with the award-winning Oluwa Ni song.

    Korede Bello followed up on Reekado’s sterling performance with a superb show that really connected with the crowd. He sang his Mungo Park track and the hall erupted in wild excitement. He followed it up with the One and Only, Adaobi, Do It Like That and Relative tracks in quick succession.

    He closed the night with Godwin and the hall just merged into one large choir as they sang along.

    There was also a beauty pageant which produced the IMSU “Glo Campus Data Dude” Nnamdi Tochukwu emerged winner to take homeN100,000 cash prize, while Okpala Ugochukwu, Raphael Chindah, Egbule Obinna and Chiamonwu Victor won N50,000 each.

    In the female category, Amamihe Jennifer was crowned IMSU “Glo Campus Data Diva” and she won N100,000.  Runners-up in that category who went home with N50,000 each  included Nzediegwu Adaugu, Emetubelem Grace, Okochie Theresa and Mojekwu Chineye.

    In a twist of events following his exit from Triple MG, Nigerian pop singer, Iyanya has announced that he has officially signed with Mavin Records.

    The artiste made the announcement with the release of a new song featuring Don Jazzy and Dr Sid, titled Up 2 Sumting, the new song, which is produced by Mavin Records’ Don Jazzy, was released on Monday, which happens to be the singer’s 30th birthday.

    The news, which generated a bit of excitement on social networks, was broken by Don Jazzy via his Twitter handle.

    “Iyanya brings his own unique style and sound to the Mavin Records family. From the first time I stepped into the studio with him, there was an instant chemistry and energy.

    “He is an amazing talent and he has great musical versatility. This is an exciting time for us and our fans have a lot of great music to look forward to,” Jazzy stated.

    Iyanya, on his part, says that he is at a decision-making curve in his music career where he has to make the right professional and creative decisions.

    “At this point, I realised the need to put in solid structures in place to move to the next level of my career. I think I have found that professional and creative backbone in Mavin Records,” Iyanya stated.

    With this move, Iyanya now has Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, D’Prince, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks and Di’Ja as label mates.

    Headies 2015: Korede Bello, Reekado Banks battle for Next Rated

    For the first time in the history of The Headies Award, two artistes from the same record label; Korede Bello and Reekado Banks, both of Mavin Records, have been nominated in the Next Rated category, alongside Cynthia Morgan, Lil Kesh, and Kiss Daniel.

    Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, better known by his stage name Reekado Banks, is a recording artist, rapper and songwriter, signed to Mavin Records. He went by the stage name Spicy prior to bagging a record deal with the aforementioned label.

    Korede Bello on the other hand is best known for his hit single, God Win, a semi-gospel and pop song which topped many music charts in Nigeria.

    After the release of his first single which got relatively positive reviews, he was introduced to Don Jazzy by his manager Casmir Uwaegbute after which they recorded some songs together which got Don Jazzy impressed. On February 28, 2014, he got signed to Mavin Records under which he has recorded popular songs like katapot, corner and sugar baby.

    The Headies 2015 comes up on Wednesday, Dec. 30.
