‘Odeda/Obafemi-Owode /Abeokuta North deserves better representation’

The people of Odeda, Obafemi-Owode and Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, Ogun State have been urged to vote for credible candidates in next year’s polls. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain,  Samuel Abiodun-Oni, who is contesting for the House of Representatives in the constituency, said only credible politicians can work for the good of the society.

He said the need to correct past errors and improve the lives of his people informed his decision to join the race.

Abiodun-Oni, who has obtained his nomination form, said he has passion for development.

He said his commitment to the grassroots motivated him to leave his thriving private business for politics.

Abiodun-Oni, who is the Managing Director of Samfem Construction Company Limited, said he would bring his managerial experience to bear on his legislative duties, if elected as a legislator.

He said: “We are blessed with sufficient human and material resources in our constituency. What we lack today are good and experienced leaders to initiate the needed policies and legal framework to aid growth and development.

“That is where I come in. With my experience as a successful player in the private sector, and having been in politics for some time now, I know I could make the difference in assisting the enactment of functional and relevant laws to aid the most needed growth and development.

“I assure that I will also use my influence when I get to the National Assembly to attract Federal Projects and all other benefits to our people and my constituency.”

The aspirant attended the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeotuta and Obafemi Owode Local Government School, Oka via Obafemi, Ogun State.

  • Aspirant promises quality representation

The dividend of democracy is not stomach infrastructure, but valid representation of the people’s interest. This  was the view of Mr Tunde Oyewo while declaring his political interest.

He spoke at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Oyo while revealing his intentions to contest for Oyo Central Senatorial district.

The aspirant, who is currently the Special Assistant to the Governor on Yes O Cadet, revealed that he has been in politics for a long time, even as he said he had served in both the executive and legislative arms of government.

“My combination of executive and legislative knowledge has given me the edge above others and also made me the best candidate for the position,” Oyewo said.

He further reiterated that as a legislator, his job is to address the needs of his constituents and represent them equally. “ “The true dividend of democracy is self actualisation, when you create a level playing field for everybody. Welfare and others are basic needs of the people,” he said.

Oyewo said he is interested in meeting the needs of his people,  adding that if elected, he will give his constituents quality representation.

Soliciting the support of his people, he said: “I cannot do it alone, I do not know what the problem is everywhere but I have to consult the people to know what they need, because it is the people that will direct me to meet their needs.” He also confessed that even though the road is tough, he is adequately prepared.”

He urged the people to elect credible people as the duty of the governor is so enormous that he needs responsible and capable hands to move the ship of Oyo State forward.

Present at the event were the Chairman, Oyo State  APC, Pa Samuel Ogundiran, women and chairmen from the four wards that make up the district,  namely Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West Federal Constituency.

    Women tackle senator over representation

Women, under the auspices of the Concerned Women of Southern Kaduna, have accused the senator representing the zone, Senator Nenadi Usman, of lack of quality representation.

They also accused her of inaccessibility, adding that she is on the run from her constituency for fear of being confronted by women and youths to account for her stewardship.

But Senator Usman, who said she did not feel bad by the accusations, added that the women might have been sponsored by those aspiring to contest the senatorial position next year.
