    JAMB reschedules examination for 62,140 candidates

    THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) yesterday said 62,140 candidates, who had issues with late registration, biometric non-verification and cancellation of results would have to rewrite the examination.

    The board said the rescheduled examination would hold on 1 July across the candidates’ centres.

    JAMB Registrar Is-haq Oloyede spoke yesterday after a meeting of the board’s management with chief external examiners and other major stakeholders on the conduct of 2017 UTME, at its headquarters, Bwari, Abuja.

    Oloyede said the meeting candidatesapproved the cancellation of the results of 1,386 candidates for examination malpractices.

    He added that these candidates would not be allowed to rewrite the examination.

    The JAMB registrar said: “The meeting approved the cancellation of the results of 1,386 individual candidates found culpable of examination malpractice. The cancellation of results of 57,646 in centres-induced malpractice. The cancellation of the two results of the 666 candidates engaged in multiple examinations.

    “The meeting also agreed on the rescheduling of examination for candidates of centres with mass malpractice, but who are deemed innocent, biometric non-verification machine related issues, late registration, four lost sessions in three centres due to malfunctioning of three servers at the centre and incomplete results.”

    According to him, the meeting also approved the delisting of 48 computer based test centres from participating in JAMB examination because of various infractions.

    “The meeting approved the suspension of 24 computer based test centres for one year due to technical issues. These centres would not participate in the 2018 unified tertiary matriculation examination but they can be reconsidered for 2019 and above.

    The delisting of 48 centres from participating in the board’s examination in future as a result of serious technical deficiencies, extortion, organised examination malpractices and other damaging infractions,” he added.

    LMC reschedules five NPFL matches

    The League Management Company (LMC) has rescheduled five matches in this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League.

    The match day 29 fixture involving Rivers United and Ikorodu United which should have been played on July 31 will now come up on August 11 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.

    An auto crash involving Rivers United on Thursday necessitated the change in date for the fixture which could have seen the Port Harcourt club go level on points with Wikki Tourists at the summit of the NPFL standings if they defeat Ikorodu United.

    Meanwhile, four outstanding fixtures involving the champions, Enyimba, have also been rescheduled.

    The Peoples Elephant will now face Sunshine Stars in Port Harcourt on August 3 while their outstanding game against Wikki Tourists will now be played on September 7.

  • Ado Poly reschedules post-UTME test

    The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, has rescheduled its post-UTME screening earlier scheduled to hold from today and Wednesday.

    A statement yesterday by the Polytechnic’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Ade Adeyemi-Adejolu, said the post-UTME will now begin from October 5 to October 9.

    The latest postponement, the statement said, was due chiefly to challenges experienced by many prospective candidates in possessing their e-transact PIN from banks.

    It said: “The rescheduling became imperative to enable a hitch-free preparation and successful conduct of the screening test.

    “We urge parents, guardians, and qualified candidates to note that the Computer-Based Test will now hold from October 5 to October 9 at the Polytechnic Digital Library.

    “Consequently, all interested candidates who are yet to complete their online application now have the opportunity to do so until midnight of Wednesday,  when the admission portal will be closed.”

    LMC reschedules Wolves’ matches

    The League Management Company (LMC) has rescheduled outstanding matches involving Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club Warri Wolves.

    Wolves missed several league games this season as a result of their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

    The club will now face Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on Wednesday, July 15, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

    Wolves will face Kwara United in another rescheduled game at the Ilorin Township Stadium on July 22, while the third of the rescheduled games against El-Kanemi Warriors will be held at the Warri City Stadium on July 26.

    Moses Etu, Media chief of Wolves, said it will be imperative for fans of the club to turn out en masse to cheer the side to victory in the three games.

    “We have just been told of the new dates for the three outstanding matches involving our club with that of Shooting on the 15th in Ibadan, Kwara United on the 22nd in Ilorin while El-Kanemi will come to Warri on the 26th. We want our fans to take note of these dates and turn up in large numbers at the various venues to cheer the team on,” he said.

    Wolves are currently in 12th place in the NPFL standings with 16 points from 10 matches.
