“I’m no longer surprised when people who earn next to nothing allegedly buy multi million dollar cars and homes,” he wrote on New Year’s day, “after all the catch phrase is “FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT” but the question is, is faking it a guarantee to making it? Absolutely not.

“I have never believed the principle of faking it till you make it because it is a faulty principle that often puts people in trouble so I want to share a principle that has worked for me, which is the principle of FAITH and utter total trust in God’s word. The principle that is sure to not only produce results but produce results that are long lasting not the fleeting fame and fortune that comes with FAKING IT.

  • Abdulsalami,Soyinka,Akeredolu,others in BEARD identity

NOBEL laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, former head of state Abdulsalami Abubakar, veteran actor Pete Edochie, Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and star actor Richard Mofe-Damijo have one obvious thing in common: their perfectly groomed beard. Although they are renowned for their outstanding accomplishments in different fields, their signature beards are as familiar as their names.

It is no secret that long and medium beards have become one of the most popular trends for men. Perhaps because of their ability to change one’s looks and carve a unique kind of identity, more and more men tend to be embracing the idea of wearing a beard.

However, most men above the age of 60 tend to see the idea of keeping and maintaining a beard as a mere waste of time. But not so for these stylish oldies who started keeping their beards in their younger days and have stayed faithful to them.

By sporting and maintaining their enviable beards over the years, they have transformed not just their appearances but their styles, carving peculiar niche for themselves.

The remarkable thing is that there is a beard style for every man. Whatever style you want to rock, whether it is the handsomely rugged one like Soyinka’s or the soft and subtle type like Richard Mofe-Damijo’s, you are sure of an identity that sets you apart from the crowd.

So, young and upwardly mobile men seeking a new look this season can opt for one of these oldies’ looks to redefine their appearance. Whether you choose a short, medium or a long beard, regular maintenance is key.

  • RMD pledges artistes support to end Tuberculosis in Nigeria

A veteran Nigerian Artiste, Richard Mofe Damijo, popularly known as RMD, says Nigerian artistes will support the efforts to end the scourge of Tuberculosis (TB) in the country.

RMD spoke as part of a TB discussion group during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) first-ever high-level meeting on tuberculosis (TB) in New York.

The UNGA on TB on Sept. 26 gathered Heads of States in New York to accelerate efforts in ending TB and reach all affected people with prevention and care.

This is part of the activities of the 73rd UNGA, the biggest global meeting of heads of states.

The theme was: “United to End Tuberculosis: An Urgent Global Response to a Global Epidemic’’.

RMD said: “From the work we do as actors, all the time we get the attention of people.

“We grow being followed and because of that followership, it gives us various platforms to reach a lot more people.

“Socially in Nigeria today and the world all over, it makes it easier to join forces with TB partners in order to be effective.

“I am sure that we will be able to do everything in our power to get the message out there and we have the artistes’ support, of course, and our government here today.’’

He added: “Another is to have as much information as possible from our partners because it is not enough to just say something once and then you stop at that.

“The depth of your knowledge in the campaign that you are trying to propagate is very important so as to have a good synergy between the partners and celebrities.

“We need the government, our leaders here to support us to get the messages across,’’ he said.

Also, President Muhammadu Buhari reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to eradicate tuberculosis as soon as possible.

According to him, the administration remains resolute in the efforts to address institutional and societal challenges, through the enhancement of strong multi-sectoral mechanisms.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), it is estimated that TB claims no fewer than 420 lives every day.

This makes Nigeria the 7th with the highest burden in the world and second highest in Africa.

TB is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide; it is caused by bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) that most often affect the lungs; it is curable and preventable.

TB is spread from person to person through the air; when people with lung TB cough, sneeze or spit, they propel the TB germs into the air,

A person needs to inhale only a few of these germs to become infected.

In 2017, an estimated 10 million people fell ill with TB and 1.6 million died from the disease (including 0.3 million among people with HIV); an estimated one million children became ill with TB and 230 000 children died of TB (including children with HIV associated TB).

Also in 2017, 87 per cent of new TB cases occurred in the 30 high TB burden countries; eight countries accounted for two thirds of the new TB cases and they include India, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and South Africa.

  • Celebs embark on PVC campaign

Ahead of the 2019 elections, some big shots in the entertainment industry have taken it as a responsibility to reach out to people to get their Permanent Voters’ Card.

With the process and collection of PVC ended on Thursday, many of them queued to collect their cards at various locations. Some were seen in T-shirts with the inscription: ‘Register, Select, Vote Not Fight, Protect.’

And with the recent killings in Plateau State, veteran actor Richard Mofe Damijo, known as RMD, said that the killings are as a result of government’s nonchalance.

“It’s been a few days of numbness and soul searching for me.  Just last Friday, I was as ecstatic as other millions of Nigerians at the Super Eagles’ victory over Iceland, it was an amazing weekend as I had a constant smile reliving the match, but unexpectedly, evil crept up on us, went to Plateau and massacred about one hundred humans.  After the initial shock, the realisation that the battle for the soul of this nation just intensified hit me hard and I have since questioned myself.

“The Plateau killings had no business happening at all; it is an occurrence that was absolutely perpetrated because of the nonchalant and inactive body language of the government. It is time leadership stop hiding behind long speeches, empty promises and be accountable to the people. We demand justice and refuse to back down because “eye wey dey cry, dey see” as we cry and mourn let our sorrow fuel our passion to go get our PVCs.”

For comic actress Chigul, the process of getting her PVC was done as a step to be part of a process to build a better future. “I’m officially a registered voter…. As we lay to rest tonight, I want us to think again if we had thought against picking up our PVCs. Today, I finally did the do.., I stood the time in the sun to do the do. I did it as a step to be part of a process to build a better future for my children and generations unborn. I did this today for all the ills and mess in our society at the moment, I did it today for the killings and bloodshed in this land.”

ONE ambassador Waje, says: “Resigning your fate is to willingly open yourself to rape. If you are angry at it, do something about it.”

Songstress Omawumi was not left behind in the campaign.  “We must use our voices to speak against issues like this.  “PVC ready! It took me less than 30mins to get mine.”

Actress Lala Akindoju also said that having a PVC is having the power to make a choice as the country is in a state of emergency.

“This is really where our power lies,” she said.

“I’m appealing to everyone to do this. Treat this as an emergency because our country is really in a state of emergency. As citizens, we have more power than them. During the last elections the turnout was higher than usual. In 2019, we can do better.”

Musician Samklef on his part said prayer is not the key now. “We don’t need prayers for this country to be great. Which kind God won’t answer his people’s prayers for almost 60years? The answer is in our hands go get your PVC.”

RMD prods fans on Valentine craze

RMD in his Instagram page on the social media said this advice was necessary as the Valentine Season usually celebrated on February14 on an annual basis draws closer.

He said: “If I wasn’t the six foot, successful, famous, good-looking RMD, will you still love me?

“If not for the level of fame I have achieved and the success tied to my brand; will you still scream my name?

“If I was a middle-aged, gray bearded, emaciated applicant hoping to be your driver, will you give me a second look?

“If I was a half literate Warri boy who said ‘Nyam’ instead of Yam, “Shorsh” instead of Church and “I chock” instead of “I was shocked”, will you not mock and laugh at my speech?

“If I, as RMD, fell on hard times, lost my fame and fortune, became helpless and hopeless, will you show any sympathy?

“I asked, not because I do not know the answers but so that he that has ears will hear and hopefully learn a thing or may be, two, “he said.

He continued by saying, “In your desire to be loved and accepted, it is important to ask yourselves how much of the love and admiration thrown at you are genuine.

“Know that many do not love you; they love the idea of you.

“It is the same people who sing your praises when you’re up, that tear you apart when you stumble, and stomp on you when you fall.

“Don’t let the number of followers you have, the likes and comments on your pictures or the hype fool you, one wrong move and the vultures will swoop down to feast.

“This is why I appreciate the love but stay super selective when it comes to letting people in. I keep my circle small, in fact, very small.

“I keep my private life, private and thank God for the grace to also keep my public life private.

“Don’t put yourself out there and start crying foul when it blows up in your face and stop trying to sit with the cool kids, you are the cool kid. Know this and elevate above the clique mentality.

“This is really the truth, you only gain attention because of what you are achieving, “he said.
